My dad came for 2-week respite. He seems to have been happy and taken part in the activities. Should he need further time in a care home, I would be happy for him to return.

This was a last minute booking. Immediately upon walking in, I could see that this is a happy, homely place. All the staff I came in touch with were lovely. The food looked fabulous, which would make my dad happy. It is clean, comfortable and run by kind, caring staff. Will definitely use again. The
most important thing, of course, is that my dad was happy!

This is a lovely, homely, and well-maintained care home surrounded by beautiful gardens. The staff are so welcoming and the management of the home is excellent. My Mum has advanced dementia, but she seems content, is very well cared for, and enjoys her food! She clearly likes the staff, who work hard
to make her feel comfortable and included. I really appreciate the relatives' meetings to keep us informed, and an excellent training session run by the Activities Manager to better understand dementia. I love the way that Saxonwood encourages other groups from the Battle community to engage with the residents - such as a very enjoyable intergenerational art session with local playgroup, primary and secondary school children held recently. Communal areas have recently been redecorated to a high standard, and the layout of the bright, comfortable lounge thoughtfully redesigned to facilitate a range of activities, rest and conversation. I am very happy that Mum is living at Saxonwood.

I would like to say that during my visit staff were very kind, attentive, friendly and engaging at all times, with all Residents as well as us. The surroundings are comfortable, very clean ( but there was one toilet without a light functioning that could have been marked as out of action, rather than
allow Residents to get halfway in before we discovered this!) We were told the maintenance person was off this week, and were waiting for their return. Staff were very warm and friendly with us, ensuring we had drinks being a very hot day as well as the Residents, and when we asked for support with our family member were available immediately ( Thank you Gill) and interacted with dignity and respect, gaining consent at all times. It was a great shame that afternoon tea did not come with the same lovely treats as our relative is gluten free, just a dry old biscuit and no choice with that, it was all that was on offer. Other Residents had a choice of homemade cakes, so sad to see.
Reply from Lizzie Gurr, Marketing & Communications Officer at Oakwood Court

Thank you for your review . We're pleased to hear you found our staff to be kind, attentive, and respectful to everyone. Your kind words about the warmth and professionalism of our team, especially Gill, mean a great deal and will certainly be shared with them. We apologise for the inconvenience caused by the light not working in the toilet. Our team hadn't been made aware of this fault at the time of your visit, and so fixed the problem soon after it was reported. Your feedback about the gluten-free refreshment is important to us. We're sorry that on this occasion there wasn't a gluten free cake available. We cater for a variety of dietary requirements and usually have cakes for everyone, we will improve this going forward. Thank you again for your thoughtful and constructive feedback. We hope to welcome you again soon.

My mother( who has been a resident in Saxonwood for almost thirteen years) recently celebrated her 100th birthday. I had originally booked a local restaurant for a gathering of family and friends, but the venue cancelled this a week later. As it transpired, this was highly fortuitous, because the team
at Saxonwood stepped in and accommodated us all.
The level of service and quality of food were beyond what we would have otherwise received and the care and attention lavished upon us all was incomparable.
Every member of staff, whatever their role, made everyone feel so welcome, for which I am eternally grateful.
Special thanks to chef and her brigade!

A lovely sunny and warm weekend in the lounge, visiting Saturday afternoon and Sunday Morning, he was quite relaxed and content. The afternoon visit was more laid back, chatting a little with the resident, then several of the others and one other visitor. Things picked up with tea and dinner, so I left
to go and cook mine. Sunday ... and he was deep in the observer... and a hot chocolate. The county life and history magazines were welcomed but more important matters no dust prevailed! It was time for lunch and he was hungry and so was I a little peckish, so away to cook my own lunch after a good visit.

During her time with Aokwood, she was always treated with kindness, patience, dignity and respect by all of the wonderful team there. Mum was with Oakwood for 5 years. She struggled to settle due to her Alzheimer's/dementia and the home was so supportive during that time. We found the staff to be friendly and caring throughout. As Mum's dementia progressed I felt reassured that she was being well cared for. The home was always spotless
and light and airy and most importantly full of life. We sat by Mum's bedside for many hours in her final 9 days and were so impressed with the care and dignity shown to Mum and also for us. Nothing was too much trouble and if you have to make the difficult decision of care for your loved one. I would not hesitate to recommend Oakwood. Thank you!

At 91 years old our mother recently came to the decision that she could no longer carry on living independently. She wanted more help and above all companionship. Having visited a few care homes, the moment she walked into Oakwood Court she knew this was where she wanted to be. From the outset everyone
involved couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating and have gone out of their way to help ensure a stress free transition. Nothing has been too much trouble. Her needs and wishes are sought and acted upon by everyone and Steve, the wonderful handyman, has done all he can to ensure her room is as cosy, comfortable and homely as can be. We were also impressed with how a recent medical situation was dealt with quickly and efficiently. What we her daughters always imagined would be a difficult time, has proved anything but. In just a few weeks, our mother has settled in, is happy and feels very safe and secure in her new home. Maybe the delicious food she enjoys plays a part too.
