Oakwood Court care home is one of the most homely and friendly around and they welcome people with open arms, like a big family. Their focus is on brighter living, so every day they bring a ray of sunshine to their residents. Their seven day a week sunny moments club provides a variety of one to one and group activities, based on residents hobbies and interests - there's something for everyone.
Oakwood Court provides accommodation for 62 residents, made up of 59 single rooms and one double room. Each room enjoys a pleasant outlook and has its own en-suite facilities. Respite facilities can also be provided for those in need of a short break.
Each resident has an allocated key worker and the staff team receive regular training to make sure they provide the best care and support 24 hours a day - they put residents at the heart of everything they do. New facilities opened in September 2025, including 30 new bedrooms (some with private patios), an activities room, cinema, additional lounge and dining room and a state of the art hair and beauty salon.
The home has a 5* food hygiene certificate and the in-house catering team create delicious, nutritious home-cooked meals, reflecting residents preferences.
Engaging and involving residents is important and the team welcomes ideas, feedback and suggestions from all residents and their families so their service is continuously improved.
The home is surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens. The comfortable modern residential care home is in a lovely setting and the neighbouring Oakwood Flats sheltered scheme make this a welcoming community of older people.
The beautiful Beech Hurst Gardens are close by and Haywards Heath town centre is only a short walk or drive away, with a mainline train station and excellent connections to London.
Our care home fees are based on the care needs of each resident and their choice of room within our home. We have varying levels of care provision and different types of room, based on the size, outlook and facilities.
All inclusive pricing - Our care fees include all accommodation and household bills, personal care, all meals, snacks and non-alcoholic refreshments, and the cleaning and laundry service. The rooms are fully furnished and include a bed, bedside table, chest of drawers, wardrobe and an armchair. Extra services can be purchased as required, such as telephone, hairdressing and chiropody.
We are a not for profit organisation which means any surplus we make in income is invested back into our properties to improve the quality of life of our residents. Sussex Housing & Care has been supporting older people to live brighter lives since 1946.

Oakwood is a very caring environment, staffed by empathetic and caring carers and admin people. I am often impressed when I see the interactions between the staff and my mother-in-law. It is also a safe environment for residents and the special events put on by staff are a credit to the home.

I would like to say that during my visit staff were very kind, attentive, friendly and engaging at all times, with all Residents as well as us. The surroundings are comfortable, very clean ( but there was one toilet without a light functioning that could have been marked as out of action, rather than allow Residents to get halfway in before we discovered this!) We were told the maintenance person was off this week, and were waiting for their return. Staff were very warm and friendly with us, ensuring we had drinks being a very hot day as well as the Residents, and when we asked for support with our family member were available immediately ( Thank you Gill) and interacted with dignity and respect, gaining consent at all times. It was a great shame that afternoon tea did not come with the same lovely treats as our relative is gluten free, just a dry old biscuit and no choice with that, it was all that was on offer. Other Residents had a choice of homemade cakes, so sad to see.

Our team hadn't been made aware of this fault at the time of your visit, and so fixed the problem soon after it was reported. Your feedback about the gluten-free refreshment is important to us. We're sorry that on this occasion there wasn't a gluten free cake available. We cater for a variety of dietary requirements and usually have cakes for everyone, we will improve this going forward. Mum was with Oakwood for 5 years. She struggled to settle due to her Alzheimer's/dementia and the home was so supportive during that time. We found the staff to be friendly and caring throughout. As Mum's dementia progressed I felt reassured that she was being well cared for. The home was always spotless and light and airy and most importantly full of life. We sat by Mum's bedside for many hours in her final 9 days and were so impressed with the care and dignity shown to Mum and also for us. Nothing was too much trouble and if you have to make the difficult decision of care for your loved one. I would not hesitate to recommend Oakwood. Thank you!

At 91 years old our mother recently came to the decision that she could no longer carry on living independently. She wanted more help and above all companionship. Having visited a few care homes, the moment she walked into Oakwood Court she knew this was where she wanted to be. From the outset everyone involved couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating and have gone out of their way to help ensure a stress free transition. Nothing has been too much trouble. Her needs and wishes are sought and acted upon by everyone and Steve, the wonderful handyman, has done all he can to ensure her room is as cosy, comfortable and homely as can be. We were also impressed with how a recent medical situation was dealt with quickly and efficiently. What we her daughters always imagined would be a difficult time, has proved anything but. In just a few weeks, our mother has settled in, is happy and feels very safe and secure in her new home. Maybe the delicious food she enjoys plays a part too.

After only being here a short time, I sensed what a warm, friendly, caring home it is. It really does feel like “home from home”. I am the first port of call for all visitors to the home, such as relatives, friends, nurses and tradespeople and I keep all the administrative paperwork up to date. But what I enjoy most about my job is interacting with the lovely residents.
I deliver their post and help read letters from family and friends if they are unable to do so themselves. Seeing the joy on their faces when I am reading to them is what I find so rewarding.

My role includes more basic tasks such as unblocking shower wells, checking light bulbs and cleaning the bins - just as important! There is generally a lot of cleaning, tidying, and ensuring everything is in safe working order. I will also decorate rooms when they become vacant and keep the rest of the home looking as good as it can be.
I very much enjoy spending time talking to residents when I’m working in their rooms and supporting the care team in any way I can. Sometimes I have the opportunity to join in activities with residents such as gardening or singing, which is a great privilege.
