Oakwood Court care home is one of the most homely and friendly around and they welcome people with open arms, like a big family. Their focus is on brighter living, so every day they bring a ray of sunshine to their residents. Their seven day a week sunny moments club provides a variety of one to one and group activities, based on residents hobbies and interests - there's something for everyone.

Oakwood Court provides accommodation for 62 residents, made up of 59 single rooms and one double room. Each room enjoys a pleasant outlook and has its own en-suite facilities. Respite facilities can also be provided for those in need of a short break.

Each resident has an allocated key worker and the staff team receive regular training to make sure they provide the best care and support 24 hours a day - they put residents at the heart of everything they do. New facilities opened in September 2025, including 30 new bedrooms (some with private patios), an activities room, cinema, additional lounge and dining room and a state of the art hair and beauty salon.

The home has a 5* food hygiene certificate and the in-house catering team create delicious, nutritious home-cooked meals, reflecting residents preferences.

Engaging and involving residents is important and the team welcomes ideas, feedback and suggestions from all residents and their families so their service is continuously improved.

The home is surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens. The comfortable modern residential care home is in a lovely setting and the neighbouring Oakwood Flats sheltered scheme make this a welcoming community of older people.

The beautiful Beech Hurst Gardens are close by and Haywards Heath town centre is only a short walk or drive away, with a mainline train station and excellent connections to London.

All inclusive pricing - Our care fees include all accommodation and household bills, personal care, all meals, snacks and non-alcoholic refreshments, and the cleaning and laundry service. Extra services can be purchased as required, such as telephone, hairdressing and chiropody.


We are a not for profit organisation which means any surplus we make in income is invested back into our properties to improve the quality of life of our residents. Sussex Housing & Care has been supporting older people to live brighter lives since 1946.

I have been extremely impressed by the standard of care and support the staff at Oakwood Court have shown to my mum. They treat everyone with dignity and nothing is too much for them. I feel confident in leaving my mum in their care - they're very observant and quickly identify when my mum needs additional
help. My mum likes being at Oakwood Court - she says this to me often. They have regular entertainment - I've also been Impressed by the resident council - Oakwood responds to all requests and concerns.

My mother-in-law was a resident for just over a year. After the initial uncertainty (lasting less than a week) she settled very well into life at the care home and grew to like and appreciate the great level of care that she received without fail. All the staff always treated her with dignity, respect
and kindness and it really did become her home. After her last hospital stay, she was discharged for end of life care. We thought that we would need to find a nurse home, but Oakwood Court said they were able and pleased for her to return. They said it was her home and they wanted her to spend her last days and weeks at home.

This is a very caring, friendly home. All the staff are excellent, from the top to the bottom. Nothing is too much trouble. There is a choice of hot meals twice a day, with coffee, tea, biscuits, fruit throughout the day. I was even included in the fruit kebabs - one of their initiatives to keep the
residents hydrated. I am very impressed with the range and frequency of activities provided. There is something morning and afternoon. Last week my father was taken to the seaside for fish and chips. The bedrooms are of a very generous size with ensuite bathroom.

Our mother has been living in Oakwood Court for eight months, she is very well cared for there by the staff, both in terms of medical and pastoral care. She is stimulated by the activities they put on, likes her accommodation, enjoys the food and the company and community there. When we visit her, we
are impressed by how well presented and well maintained Oakwood Court is, how friendly the staff are and by the lovely atmosphere. It gives us peace of mind that she is very happy living there, and is so very well looked after by the staff.

We are very pleased with Oakwood. The carers are very good and patient with my father. We are able to see him a lot as we live close by. The building is purpose built, well kept and clean.

Dad has been in Oakwood Court for three and a half years and I have no complaints, the staff are very approachable when I need to see them and they keep me informed about dad's problems. Dad is deaf and almost blind.

My mother has been at Oakwood Court for nearly 3 years and she suffers with dementia and Alzheimer's. The staff are outstanding as is the management. The level of care has exceeded my expectations, they always phone with any comments/problems so I always feel well informed. I visit about 5 times a week
and my mother is always clean well tended. I would not hesitate to recommend Oakwood Court to anyone. I liked the fact she was able to provide all her own furniture so that her room felt like home immediately.

My father arrived at Oakwood Court following a fall and a spell in hospital. When he arrived he was very frail and insecure. Within a week he looked 10 years younger. This entirely due to the staff of all levels. Nothing is too much trouble. Everyone is friendly, caring and supportive, he is helped
where necessary but is doing things for himself too which had been too much trouble, well done Oakwood Court.

My mother has been a resident at Oakwood Court since September, initially for respite care and then for full care. My mother made this decision herself after being at Oakwood Court for a few weeks. She was happy in such a safe environment and so impressed with all the staff who treat the residents to
cheerfully with patience and dignity.
The atmosphere is relaxed and approachable and residents are encouraged to have visitors at any time. we have enjoyed having meals with her; the food is excellent, very varied and of high quality. The knowledge that my mother is being so well looked after has been a great support for the family.

I love my job because it's so rewarding leading a team and supporting our residents to live a bright life and putting them and their families at the heart of everything we do.

Mealtimes are one of the most important parts of the day, especially for socialising and residents' wellbeing. There's nothing better than seeing residents tucking into a home cooked, hearty meal and getting good feedback from them, it brings joy to me and makes my job rewarding. I am supported in the kitchen by a Chef and two Kitchen Assistants and spend time with residents listening to their feedback and menu ideas.

I started working at Oakwood Court in April 2022, and coming from mainly an administrative background, this is my first role in a care home. After only being here a short time, I sensed what a warm, friendly, caring home it is. It really does feel like “home from home”. I am the first port of call for all visitors to the home, such as relatives, friends, nurses and tradespeople and I keep all the administrative paperwork up to date. But what I enjoy most about my job is interacting with the lovely residents.


I deliver their post and help read letters from family and friends if they are unable to do so themselves. Seeing the joy on their faces when I am reading to them is what I find so rewarding.

"I take care of the day-to-day maintenance of the building making sure all the checks have been done, including fire and gas safety, water and electrical testing. My role includes more basic tasks such as unblocking shower wells, checking light bulbs and cleaning the bins - just as important! There is generally a lot of cleaning, tidying, and ensuring everything is in safe working order. I will also decorate rooms when they become vacant and keep the rest of the home looking as good as it can be.


I very much enjoy spending time talking to residents when I’m working in their rooms and supporting the care team in any way I can. Sometimes I have the opportunity to join in activities with residents such as gardening or singing, which is a great privilege.


I may have my week planned, but often my work can be reactive, you never really know what you’re going to walk into in the morning, one of the many reasons I love working here."
