Review from E W (Son-in-law of Resident) published on 25 July 2017 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

I have found the whole set-up at the Woodlands care home extremely acceptable.

The location, access and the general surroundings are perfect for my mother-in-law.

The staff, who are mainly local residents, are very friendly and efficient and their caring attitude is very apparent and applies right across the board from senior management downwards.

Review from Jonathan U (Friend of Resident) published on 24 July 2017 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

I have been visiting regularly for several years. I have always been impressed with the general ambience, the staff are welcoming and attentive, everywhere always looks clean. I often see the activities taking place in the lounges, the friend I visit rarely takes part which is a shame.

Reply from Lizzie Gurr, Communications Executive at Woodlands

Thanks for your review Jonathan. Getting our residents involved in our daily activities is a great way of supporting them to be physically and mentally active, as well as socialise with staff and fellow residents. We will see what we can do to encourage your friend to take part if they would like to.

I started working in care in 2010 and worked my way from Care Assistant, through senior care roles, Deputy Manager to finally becomming the Care Home Manager.

I am passionate about my work. I enjoy the variety of work and meeting new people and supporting them at time when they need help and reassurance. I absolutely love bringing energy and creativity to every activity and watch how residents’ faces light up.

Residents are at the very centre of our Woodlands family. Everything I do is with their wellbeing and happiness in mind. Each member of our team is dedicated to giving the best care and making a positive difference to residents’ lives every day.

Woodlands has a very homely and friendly atmosphere, together we're one warm and friendly community.

"I joined in April 2024. My journey in the care field started in 2017, beginning with my BTEC in Nursing, which equipped me with a strong foundation for my career. Following comprehensive training in various hospital settings, including emergency, intensive care, and palliative care, I transitioned to roles in care homes. Starting as a support worker and progressing to assistant general manager back in Spain, I discovered genuine fulfilment in this environment.

Since relocating to the UK, I've served as a Senior Carer whilst qualifying as a Biomedical Scientist. What draws me most to working with older people is the profound sense of gratitude they express when receiving care and support. Witnessing their appreciation fuels my passion for this work every day.

In my role, I support the manager and team to make sure our residents receive the highest standard of care possible. I'm dedicated to providing compassionate support and assistance and fostering a sense of security and comfort for residents in our care."

I joined the Woodlands catering team in 2024 and I love seeing the joy of people eating my food and the benefits it brings to them.

It's great to see residents together in the dining room, socialising over my dishes and benefitting from a variety of homecooked dishes and a nutritious, well-balanced menu.

Hi, I'm Liz, I am the care home administrator at Woodlands and am often the first point of contact when you call or visit our home. I enjoy liaising with residents and their families and helping to make sure new residents settle in well. I often show people around the home, answering questions and making the transition to moving to Woodlands as smooth as possible. We look forward to hearing from you.
