We recently celebrated my mother's birthday at the home, and they put on a small gathering for her family with drinks and a cake in the new cafe area, which has been made much more comfortable and inviting with hot drinks available at all times.

Such a warm and caring home for my mum. The carers take time to get to know the residents and what makes their day better. Management are always available should you need them and the nursing team is always excellent. The activities for the residents are very well thought out and appropriate theming them to the seasons and events throughout the year.

Everything about Woodlands was excellent until my cousin suffered a fall and her behaviour and personality changed. Sadly Woodlands found they were no longer equipped to meet her new needs and the trees had to move to a home that could provide for these new needs.

Reply from Lizzie Gurr, Communications and Engagement Officer at Woodlands

Thank you for your review. We are pleased that your cousin enjoyed her time at Woodlands, and flower arranging was a favourite activity of hers. We are a dementia-friendly care home, and many of our residents live well with dementia in our community, however, we are not a registered dementia home,...

Mum moved in back in May and was very unsettled for a while. The staff have gone above and beyond to help her settle in. Everyone is friendly and cannot do enough for her. The daily activities are a good distraction for her. I cannot praise the Woodlands Staff enough.

Mum has been living at Woodlands for just over two years now, having moved there with Dad, who sadly passed away in December 2020. The staff are all very caring and nice, and Mum has never complained since she's been in the home. The staff go out of their way to provide lots of different activities for the residents, and Mum really enjoys the entertainers that go in regularly. During the pandemic, despite many care homes going into complete lockdown, Woodlands adapted one of their rooms to enable pre-booked visits which were really important for the resident's well-being. You would have to go a long way to find a better place for care.

We could not have found a better care home than Woodlands. This was reinforced recently by paramedics visiting Mum who said they go to many care homes, but Woodlands is one of the best! It was a huge decision for Mum to move from assisted living to a care home but it was the right one. Mum is treated with kindness, compassion and respect by everyone. She has settled in so well and enjoys her new life which makes her and us very happy. Despite the immense pressure care homes are under now, Woodlands staff are amazing and do a wonderful job. Thank you all, we are very grateful.

My mum lived with me for two years and I cared for her but it was time that we both needed more help with her care. In the two months that she came to Woodlands, she has settled very quickly and already feels like it is her home. All the staff have been wonderful, caring, kind and respectful. We feel very lucky to find a care home like Woodlands that can provide all the support and care that my mum and I so needed due to her advancing years, fragility and health issues. My mum has capacity and she constantly praises the care she and the other residents are given. I would highly recommend Woodlands to anyone who needs a wonderful caring home for their loved ones.

My mother arrived at Woodlands initially for one month's respite in early May 2022. Understandably, she took a little time to settle in but she soon did so. She has not had company for a long time and enjoys chatting with other residents and staff who are all so caring and attentive.

My mother spent a week at Woodlands for respite care. I visited her a couple of times that week and found the staff very pleasant and helpful. Everyone knew who my mother was and I was impressed with the facilities and the care she received. Mum also spoke very highly about the kindness and support she received from the staff.

I was unsure about staying at Woodlands for a week and on arrival was very anxious about how I would manage, especially as my room was on the first floor and I would have to use the lift. I need not have worried as the staff were helpful, kind and supportive. I was able to sit outside on a patio in the afternoons - lovely and several day rooms to use in the mornings where one could be quiet and write letters etc. My overall impression was of a well-run home, well-ordered meal times and really kind staff.

As a visitor, everything about the care home is good. I am not so sure about the opinion of a resident with Alzheimer's and have no interest in anything other than going back home! Very difficult for the staff to deal with.

"I joined in April 2024. My journey in the care field started in 2017, beginning with my BTEC in Nursing, which equipped me with a strong foundation for my career. Following comprehensive training in various hospital settings, including emergency, intensive care, and palliative care, I transitioned to roles in care homes. Starting as a support worker and progressing to assistant general manager back in Spain, I discovered genuine fulfilment in this environment.
