Mum has been in Edgecumbe Lodge just over eight months. I find it a happy place where mum is treated with care, dignity and respect. The staff treat mum and the other residents like family. There are regular good quality activities - I arrived in the middle of a session when residents were doing arithmetic and it was wonderful to see them recalling the arithmetic methods and getting sums right. The home took the residents out for a Devon cream tea and it was clear mum was having a good time. The summer party was also good fun and despite mum being disabled the staff included her in the dancing. The food was very good and plentiful, suiting all tastes. The staff and owners brought their families and with the residents families too, it was a wonderful fun afternoon.

My mum has been here for many years and she is very settled within the home. The staff are very welcoming and know how to handle her moods and act accordingly. I'm happy that my mum is safe here and that she is cared for.

Great care and professionalism and feels like a family home. A lot of effort has been made to help my parent to settle and it has been much appreciated. Staff are friendly and appear to show respect.

My mother moved to Edgecumbe Lodge as a permanent resident a week before Easter 2026. I have found the staff, without exception, to be friendly to family and caring and devoted to the residents. Unfortunately my mother was in hospital on her 97th birthday but the staff made up for it when she was discharged. I secretly think the staff enjoy parties as much as the residents! The needs of my mother and some of the residents I have met during visits can be challenging but they are all dealt with calmly, efficiently and professionally. I think my mother summed it up perfectly when after being resident for a month she said, "When I came here I thought I would have to do more for myself, but they do EVERYTHING for me". It is of great comfort to me to know that she is being looked after so well.

The care given to the residents is outstanding. The staff are always on hand, keeping an eye on the residents whether to see to their needs or to offer comfort and reassurance. They are always patient and I have never observed any worrying incidents.

Overall Edgecumbe is a very friendly and pleasant care home and my mum is happy and healthy.

A wonderful caring, safe & family environment for both residents & visitors. All the staff are very caring, patient, engaging towards my partner & myself. He is treated with dignity & fully supportive with his complex dementia condition & abilities. All the staff, the director, manager, care staff & all other related staff at the care home go above and beyond, are both passionate & compassionate in their roles. The home, his room & clothes are always fresh & clean. The food is excellent, well cooked & varied. I also appreciate the hard work & therapy that goes into the varied social activities for the residents to add stimulus & memory boosting. This is a home from home & I could not wish for a better place for my partner. It is lovely to be able to visit at any time of the day and all are so friendly, highly trained & cheerful at all times. They are all so amazing and my personal thank you for all they do & comforting to see the stability of having regular & familiar staff here.

MY father stayed Edgcumbe Lodge for 6 weeks while i was recovering from surgery.My father was well looked after by the staff,while he was there.The staff were lovely and took great pride and care in there jobs ,also very accommodating when i came to visit..over all lovely place and staff

Whenever we visit we are made very welcome and always offered a drink. The staff are relaxed with every one and are on very easy going and friendly terms with everyone. The place is very clean always, the food looks good and dad has found his appetite again. He is happy and relaxed. I want to thank everyone for their dedication and professionalism.

Very caring staff and very good care provided to my aunt who was very happy living there. Good food, a clean and safe environment. Lots of activities for residents. Nice rooms and lovely homely accommodation.

I am at Edgecumbe Lodge 2 days a week and I am there for about 4 hours each visit. I feel happy that my mum and dad are being looked after really well and the staff truly care about them. For me, it's the care that is of paramount importance and it is definitely there. It's not just about the residents, it's about the families also. I have been supported from the first day and still am now, as it can be overwhelming at times. Things have improved hugely. When things are not perfect, we work together to resolve things. And anything I bring to the attention of any member of staff is dealt with. There is constant effort made with activities.

The care of my mother was excellent. Mum was always clean and looked after. Staff always contacted me if there was any medical issue. Staff were always doing activities with the residents, either singing or gentle physical exercise (which I participated in on one occasion!) and residents go into the garden. Family are always kept up-to-date with emailed newsletters and there are meetings and events at the home one can attend. Staff are always kind and upbeat with the residents.

We have no hesitation in recommending this establishment.

My honest opinion of Edgecumbe Lodge is that owners, management and carers is to provide care, compassion and empathy to all in their care, and a welcome to all family visitors.

In sum, 'dignity' means different things to different people. It is much to do with respecting personal space and an individual's self-esteem and way of life. We want our relatives to be: pain-free; clean; nicely dressed; well-fed; and never under-valued. Edgecumbe Lodge welcomes visitors and caters so well for our loved ones. The staff at Edgecumbe Lodge show great empathy, care and compassion. We could ask for nothing more. I thank them all - every one.
