Staff extremely caring, nothing too much trouble. Food is hot on time and cooked on premises. Room is cleaned every day. My brother is washed and shaved, and head shaved when needed, or have a shower if wanted. Visiting is quite flexible.
Reply from Jodie Nelder, Registered Manager at Mount Olivet Nursing HomeThank you for your kind words. The team at Mount Olivet work hard to ensure we offer high standards across all roles. It is always lovely to hear feedback of this being recognised. I will ensure this is passed on to the team.

My mother initially chose Kings Mount after seeing how my father Jim was being treated, some years ago. They moved into a double room and thoroughly enjoyed their life, being pampered. After my father passed away, Mom was very happy to stay in the residence in a smaller room, but still being pampered.
Towards the end of her life I never had any worries about the wonderful care she received. I give a very heartfelt thanks to all the lovely staff who tended her.

My husband has been in this nursing home since July 2025 he has received exceptional care and kindness. All the carers and nurses at Mount Olivet make sure all residents are well looked after, and treated with respect. The managers are also very caring and interact with the residents and are very kind.

My Uncle arrived at "Kingsmount" in 2018, with his wife joining him a few weeks later. The care that they both received was exemplary from both the staff and the management that the both of them decided it was sensible choice for them to stay at "Kingsmount" permanently. Upon the sad death of my Uncle
in 2019, my Aunt was relieved to be able to move the single room that she desired (with views across the bay). That was it - she was settled and being looked after and this was her home! Every Christmas and Birthday (and National Day I understand) was celebrated with cakes. The excellent weekly entertainment varied from singers & magicians to animal encounters. All of her care needs were met and reviewed constantly and she was always saying that she was putting on weight because the food was so tasty. She made many friends with the staff, in particular Di, Min and Brennan, and I want to thank you all for the peace of mind you provided in the care of both my Aunt and Uncle
Reply from Brennan Wilson, Registered Manager at Kingsmount Residential HomeThankyou so much for this lovely feedback which I will share with the whole team. Your aunt was a pleasure to support and communications with the wider family always easy and relaxed. Thankyou for trusting us with your aunts care.

The care my nan has received is second to none. She was admitted with EOL from hospital as was in a very bad state. Kingsmount gave excellent care and gave her a new lease of life. Personal centred care is excellent, helping her with her hair and make up and eccentric clothing. Management and Staff
has always be open and transparent about all nans care and door has always been open if i need to discuss anything. They are able to identify her early signs of detiorioration and act promptly. Being in healthcare I have always been weary of any homes, but I feel safe and at ease knowing my nan is in safe hands. Entertainment and social activities are extremely good, always stuff going on, nan likes her room mainly has the option to go to the lounge if she wishes, Dianne is brilliant with 121 activities. Thanks Kingsmount for being caring and providing excellent care.

My mother stayed for a whole year at Mount Olivet Nursing Home. It was the most loving and happy home we could have wished for. The pleasant environment and view from her room wa a joy and I knew she would like it there. Most importantly the staff were so caring, competent and thorough I could relax
knowing mum had everything she needed and extras like activities, outings and musicians. The management staff were reassuring and nothing was too much trouble. Kitchen staff taylored meals to suit and I will miss them all very much. Thank you to cleaners, maintenance & laundry staff also.

We placed our father in Kingsmount in November 2025 as his dementia meant he could no longer live alone. Although the home claims dementia care as its specialism, the manager, Brennan, gave notice to the local authority on day six without informing us first. He stated my father's behaviour was "too
extreme" for them to manage, despite initially assuring us they could meet my father's needs. When I asked Brennan for guidance, he offered none and instead said he had never had to give notice to a resident before, which added shame and anxiety during an already difficult time. After this, Brennan often seemed too busy or distracted to address our concerns. With the local authority's support, we found a more suitable home. When the social worker asked about our father's stay, I relayed what Brennan had told me. The social worker was concerned, explaining that Brennan has issued notice to residents many times. A distinct lack of care from a 'care' home manager, at an immensely stressful time
Reply from Brennan Wilson, Registered Manager at Kingsmount Residential HomeThank you for the feedback, it has saddened me to read this amongst more positive reviews. I will investigate where we can improve our assessment process for new residents. We receive information from referrals and visit potential residents at home, often a family member will be present so that we are fully informed. Unfortunately, sometimes residents display behavior's we cant support in the long term. We are sad Kingsmount was not the right care home for your father. We were in constant communication with the wider family at each step as we received updates from involved parties. We appreciate family members cant always answer our calls, at these times we rely on families sharing information with each other. It is heartwarming that you reviewed our staff, care and support so highly. I would appreciate hearing from you regarding the lower scores so that we can identify specific areas for improvement. I sincerely hope your father settles at the new care home.

My husband and father was in your home for the last 3 1/2 months. His care was excellent, the staff were friend, respectful, kind and went beyond their duty caring for him. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The chef would oblige with any food that was asked for. The management team kept us informed
of every level of care dad was at. You also looked after our mum everyday she was with dad. We thank you for everything.

Although my neighbour waa only in for 5 days, the care and attention that he received from staff can not be faulted. They looked after him extremely well and also looked after his wife and I. The wonderful staff at Kingsmount cared for our 93-year-old Mum during the last two weeks of her life. We simply couldn't have asked for better. There were constant checks to ensure that she was comfortable, and caring chats from staff who did so much to preserve this proud lady's dignity. Communication
from management was superb and I simply couldn't recommend them highly enough.
From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU to the wonderful staff at Kingsmount who allowed our Mum's final days to be so peaceful and dignified.

Kingsmount Care Home was truly amazing both before and after my husband passed away. While staying for his care and rehabilitation needs at the nursing home after his long complicated hospitalization following an emergency cardio-thoracic surgery and series of life-threatening conditions, unfortunately on a nice day while having a nap time, I woke up next to my partner gasping for air
as he was suffering a Cardiac Arrest. The staffs promptly came to our rescue as I have pressed the emergency button and shouted for help. The manager and the on-duty nurse alternately provided chest compressions while I give breaths (as I am also trained to give CPR working as a carer myself) to my partner while someone immediately call 999 for assistance which came quickly followed by an air ambulance team. The staffs are trained to use a defibrillator device which has been used to my partner with the guidance of the individual who took the 999 call. I am very grateful for the immediate response and help from everyone that day because of their help I still have my partner alive with me.
Reply from Jodie Nelder, Registered Manager at Mount Olivet Nursing HomeThank you for your kind words. I feel these words evidence the great team we have at Mount Olivet. As stated due to their swift action a residents life was saved. I was present on this day and remember how everyone played a part with their basic life support training, to communication and supporting family with their caring and compassionate nature. We would also like to thank the South West ambulance crew who attended.

The staff were very attentive and professional. When I went to sit with my mum, if I was there for an hour, two or three different people would come to check she was comfortable. The home called nurses and ambulances when Mum needed them. The room was spacious and clean. All staff were caring and I
really felt that they looked after my mum well.

She loved all of the staff from management and care staff to cleaners and catering staff. As relatives we were kept informed of everything that was going on regarding Mum and always made

The review only specifies 1 month but my review is based on a 12 month residency.
I visited the nursing home prior to my Mother taking up residency. I was struck firstly by the cleanliness of all areas I saw. The rooms I saw, that my Mother would be offered, were all light, and well decorated. These
rooms either had views onto a well kept garden, with patio door access, or on upper floors, a sea and coastal view.
The manageress was both professional and reassuring. I made my decision on my initial assessment, not the CQC rating. The latest rating is now rated at 'good',which is well deserved.
All carer staff are very well trained and carry out their role professionally.
The home has its own transport, and driver.
A variety of interests and entertainment is provided.
The nursing staff listen to residents families and do carry out their wishes if these are sensible and do not jeopardise the residents health.
The management is excellent, giving confidence in the care provided.

My uncle moved to Kingsmount on 30th June 2021 and sadly passed away on 21st Feb 2025.
He was looked after wonderfully for the three and a half years and I was always impressed with the cheerful and positive attitude exhibited by all the staff I met and spoke with on the phone.
The manager, in particular,
has always been a calm and capable voice at times of concern and I was moved to hear that one staff member in particular had visited my uncle in hospital in his final few days.
