Our mum moved to Mayflower after a stay in a dementia ward where she had complex needs and severe anxiety. From the start, the care has been exceptional.

The home is spacious with a beautiful large garden where we love sitting with Mum. The staff are outstanding-kind, respectful, and experienced

in supporting residents with challenging behaviours. They truly care and treat everyone with dignity.

Communication is excellent. The team keeps us regularly updated, and the app is a great way to check in on Mum throughout the day. Staff are always approachable and supportive whenever we have questions or concerns.

The food is lovely, with a good variety and plenty of choice. A big thank you to the manager and the whole team for running such a well-managed, compassionate home. We're so grateful for everything you do.

Reply from Claudia Ramsamy, Home Manager at Mayflower Care Home

We feel incredibly lucky to have found Mayflower Care Home for my dad. All the staff are wonderful, professional, caring and very approachable. If my family have ever had to ask questions staff make themselves available and are always honest and reassuring. My dad is well looked after in a safe environment,
and we as a family value greatly the dementia experience throughout the care home.

My mother in law was always treated with kindness and dignety even with her bad health she was always clean, check upon needs met.
If I ever had any concerns they were always acted upon even though she was only in for 4 days every need was met. I can not think of a bad thing to say. I needed a disabled
parking spot the manager was going to create me a place for future visits.

I never wanted my dad to go into a home and felt unsure what to expect after many horror stories in the industry.
However, the team in particularly on the Dementia floor were just fantastic. My dad was so well looked after with kindness and understanding of his illness. They also looked after mum and
I and made us feel like it was our 2nd home .
The carers and the nursing team are worth their weight in gold here .
My dad was everything to me , rest assured I couldn't
have asked for any better in a care home . Thankyou to all of you !

Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

Barty house is a lovely place for my mother-in-law to be, so many wonderful caring people who look after her.
We can walk away knowing she is in the best possible place, any problems they will always give us a call, this gives us peace of mind.
My mother-in-law was put here after an operation to
be assessed, to see if she would be able to manage at home by herself.
As yet we are awaiting the outcome of the assessment.
Us as a family believe this would be the best place for her as she has a few memory issues.
We thought if a nursing home was the outcome we would move her closer to us, but to be honest my mother-in-law has settled in really well, staff are amazing, they have activities most if not every afternoon, this is something my mother-in-law really enjoys, she loves socialising, being around people. If you visit in the afternoon, they will always ask if you would like to join in with your loved one, you can even stay and have lunch with them at a small cost.
Thank you Barty House for making my mother-in-law feel at home

Mayflower was the only care home we could find due to hospital's reports on my wife. The whole team worked hard to get the medication and care right. Slowly things improved month after month and she has responded so well. All the residents are affected differently whatever their background. The staff
have to deal with so many different issues. So I recommend Mayflower Care Home

My husband can be very challenging but the staff are caring and patient with him. The 'family hub app' is so good for viewing the highs and lows of his day and his care.
I trust the staff who are always ready to explain any queries I might have.
I am incredibly sad that he is so poorly, and I miss
him terribly, but I trust that he is safe and in a very clean, very caring and actually quite peaceful place.

Excellent care home. The staff are very caring and react quickly to mum's complex needs. I am able to see mum's exact care via a portal which give peace of mind 24/7.
They even formed a mens group for my dad as he finds it hard to deal with the changes in mum and is able to discuss his feelings there.

Staff show care and compassion at all times. Staff keep dad clean and tidy at all times, ensuring his needs are met. A good choice of food that is varied and in dad's case plentiful. Mayflower keep us well informed and are slwsys contactable, especially if there are any issues. They allow us to give
feedback and input into dad's care.
Highly recommended

Mayflower is a warm, friendly, clean and supportive environment. The care that the staff give to my mum is of a high standard as I would expect. They support mum in all areas physically, emotionally as well as all her health needs. Mayflower is very well run with approachable staff obviously it would
have been better for mum to never have had dementia and be able to live out her days in her own home sadly this wasn't the case. Mayflower has made it a comfortable alternative. They organise a lot to involve the service users as well as encouraging family participation which have always been fun and engaging.

My father came to The Mayflower in November 2024 with late stage dementia and he was struggling with anxiety and anger issues at home affecting him and my mum. Since he has been there my dad has flourished yes he has deteriorated a bit but that's the disease but the home is clean fresh and welcoming
the staff are amazing nothing is too much trouble they really take the time with the residents and provide lots of things to do with them and have entertainment regularly at the home and they love it, I cannot thank the enough as my dad has settled in nicely and we would hate for him to go anywhere else I would give it a 5* rating every time

from Allison C (Daughter of Resident) published on 22 May 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mother who is a resident at Barty House for a couple of years, has always been treated with care, dignity and respect. She has complex needs which have been carefully considered and any concerns I have had, have been listened to and addressed, in particular I like the fact there is always an "open
door" mentality by the care home manager if there are any issues that need to be addressed. The Carers are good, and have taken the time to "bond" with my mum.
My mum's clothes and laundry are always clean and housekeeping do their best. The kitchen staff also work hard to accommodate different food requirements. My only critique is that some areas where there is carpet, it is a little "tired" and could do with replacing/ new flooring?
Most of all, I feel that my mum is in "safe hands" which gives me peace of mind. I would not hesitate to recommend Barty House to anyone considering this as their new "home"

We have found the staff very helpful and friendly. They have answered any questions competently and taken on board any concerns that we have had relating to the care of my father. We have been notified if there have been any falls and updated to the outcome. It is very comforting to be able to discuss
