Our mum moved to Mayflower after a stay in a dementia ward where she had complex needs and severe anxiety. From the start, the care has been exceptional.

The home is spacious with a beautiful large garden where we love sitting with Mum. The staff are outstanding-kind, respectful, and experienced

in supporting residents with challenging behaviours. They truly care and treat everyone with dignity.

Communication is excellent. The team keeps us regularly updated, and the app is a great way to check in on Mum throughout the day. Staff are always approachable and supportive whenever we have questions or concerns.

The food is lovely, with a good variety and plenty of choice. A big thank you to the manager and the whole team for running such a well-managed, compassionate home. We're so grateful for everything you do.

Reply from Claudia Ramsamy, Home Manager at Mayflower Care Home

Dear T, thank you for your kind review. We're so pleased to hear that you feel the home has been exceptional from the start of the admission process. It means a great deal to us that you feel the staff are outstanding kind, respectful and experience, and that you feel we are all approachable and supportive. We feel incredibly lucky to have found Mayflower Care Home for my dad. All the staff are wonderful, professional, caring and very approachable. Ashridge Court Care Centre

from Ian W (Son of Resident) published on 28 July 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mother, aged 94, has been a resident since Oct 2023. The care she has received is excellent. All staff(nurses and their assistants, carers, housekeeping, catering, activities, administration, and management) are kind and compassionate and make sure Mum is safe and well. She has a lovely room with
a view that overlooks the fields down to the sea. There are many activities available to residents, and Mum really enjoys the weekly seated exercise session that includes games and memory exercises. The food is excellent, but on the odd occasion, if nothing on the menu takes her fancy, she has the option to request something she chooses herself. The management is very approachable and addresses any issues appropriately that may arise. I have no hesitation in recommending Ashridge Court Care Centre.

I never wanted my dad to go into a home and felt unsure what to expect after many horror stories in the industry.
However, the team in particularly on the Dementia floor were just fantastic. My dad was so well looked after with kindness and understanding of his illness. They also looked after mum and
I and made us feel like it was our 2nd home .
The carers and the nursing team are worth their weight in gold here .
My dad was everything to me , rest assured I couldn't
have asked for any better in a care home . Thankyou to all of you !

The food and drinks are to a good standard and meticulous records are kept of the residents intake and health status.

My dad was pretty new to heathlands before getting a room there on bluebell I was his carerfor 3 yrs but unfortunately I was told it would be best for him to have all round care my dad had a terrible time in and out of hospital with different infections and then a dementia diagnosis before joining heathlands
so I was very worried about accepting a place I felt I was letting him down but he was given a lovely room to stay which was bright and sunny he was able to all his things from home to keep him company & for it to feel home which was lovely I got to know a few members of staff at heathlands & everyone of them was so lovely so helpful with any questions or concerns I had my father stayed with them for about 3-4 months before he passed away in hospital I can begin to tell you how happy & loved they made my dad feel while he was with them I saw a massive change in my dads spirt while he was there to describe it was just pure happiness and full of joy and laughter

Our lovely mum was so happy at The Cedars. She called it her home and told us as a family they are not my carers they are my friends.
The staff went above and beyond caring for mum right up until her final day as she passed away.
The staff asked to care for mum in her final days rather than send her
to a hospice. We are eternally grateful and would always recommend The Cedars.

Barty House Nursing Home

Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

Barty house is a lovely place for my mother-in-law to be, so many wonderful caring people who look after her.
We can walk away knowing she is in the best possible place, any problems they will always give us a call, this gives us peace of mind.
My mother-in-law was put here after an operation to
be assessed, to see if she would be able to manage at home by herself.
As yet we are awaiting the outcome of the assessment.
Us as a family believe this would be the best place for her as she has a few memory issues.
We thought if a nursing home was the outcome we would move her closer to us, but to be honest my mother-in-law has settled in really well, staff are amazing, they have activities most if not every afternoon, this is something my mother-in-law really enjoys, she loves socialising, being around people. If you visit in the afternoon, they will always ask if you would like to join in with your loved one, you can even stay and have lunch with them at a small cost.
Thank you Barty House for making my mother-in-law feel at home

My Brother and I had a difficult decision to make after my mother suffered a stroke. Her independence was completely taken away. After months of home carers, numerous falls and hospital stays we decided permanent care was the only way forward. We visited many, but Maples seemed to fit exactly what we
were looking for, and we definitely made the right decision. Our mother is safe, happy and loved by all who work there. She knows it is her permanent home and loves it. The team work tirelessly to make the home feel like home and the care they give feel like extended members of their own family. We can't thank them enough for all their love, care and attention.

Bright and clean, much larger inside than expected and a private gated car park for visitors.
Very secure, sign in facility upon entry, main doorways and lifts are security accessed (by fob). Friendly reception staff and a visitors area for a drink and a chat. Lovely landscaped garden, with benches
and tables, safe and peaceful.

A good staff to resident ratio and the various rooms are all bright and cozy.
Basic furniture provided but you can take in extras. All rooms have an en suite toilet/shower wet room. fully adjustable hospital beds, with movement sensors attached. My experience has been that the staff are there very quickly

Food is great, lots of choices. The main meal is lunchtime and supper is mostly soup and sandwiches but other options if requested earlier.

Great activities each day, access to them sometimes a little difficult, the activities team arrange singers, trips out, wellbeing and Art/craft sessions etc. They were the deciding factor on us choosing this home

Review of

Mayflower Care Home

from T B (Husband of Resident) published on 3 June 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Mayflower was the only care home we could find due to hospital's reports on my wife. The whole team worked hard to get the medication and care right. Slowly things improved month after month and she has responded so well. All the residents are affected differently whatever their background. The staff
have to deal with so many different issues. So I recommend Mayflower Care Home
