  • Tunbridge Wells Care Centre, Tunbridge Wells
Tunbridge Wells Care Centre is located in a pleasant residential area of Royal Tunbridge Wells. It offers person-centred nursing, dementia and palliative care, plus all the facilities required to provide maximum comfort for residents.

First impressions are important and when residents enter the chandelier-lit reception area with its airy double-height atrium, they get a strong sense of the quality of the accommodation and lifestyle they will enjoy here. And a warm welcome from the receptionist is typical of the homely environment residents and their families can expect when they join the 'family'.

It is the culture of kindness, respect and consideration that sets Tunbridge Wells Care Centre apart, and staff aim to make residents feel completely comfortable and at home, whatever level of care is needed.

The home offers accommodation for 70 residents in bright, spacious and well-furnished rooms with ensuite facilities spread over three floors. There is lift access throughout, and all areas, including the garden, are wheelchair accessible.

Nursing and care staff are on hand 24/7 on each floor, and they are supported by the domestic team via daily cleaning, laundry and housekeeping services, as well as the administration, facilities, activities and catering teams.

The spacious lounges on each floor are comfortably furnished and equipped with TVs, games and books. These communal areas provide relaxed and intimate spaces where residents can socialise with guests or other residents, and bigger areas where activities take place. The dedicated hair salon provides on-site hairdressing services and is popular with residents.

The large, landscaped garden is a pleasant and comfortable space for activities, socialising or watching the home’s resident ducks at play on a pleasant day!

On fine days, it's the perfect place for a cup of tea and some freshly baked pastries.

Lovely friendly staff from the lady emptying the bin to the care home manager.
It is wonderful to be able to take the dog in, it was so clean too.
Mavis was well looked after and it was good to see them tailoring food to her needs. They were expedient when she needed help getting to the toilet and
you could see that they cared about her dignity.
The vast majority of the residents were up and in the communal areas when we last visited and they all appeared content and looked after.
Reply from Donna Barks, Home Manager at Tunbridge Wells Care CentreMany thanks for this review, the staff and residents love it when family pets come into the home, especially when they areas lovely as your dog.

My wife was admitted to the care centre for end of life care, from hospital. Sadly she was only here for 5 days, but in that short time the care compassion and will to make her as comfortable as possible was excellent nothing was to much trouble. The way I was treated was beyond my expectations and
was wonderful. I cannot express my gratitude to all the staff enough in making my experience with them as stress free as possible at a very difficult time.

I never wanted my dad to go into a home and felt unsure what to expect after many horror stories in the industry.
However, the team in particularly on the Dementia floor were just fantastic. My dad was so well looked after with kindness and understanding of his illness. They also looked after mum and
I and made us feel like it was our 2nd home .
The carers and the nursing team are worth their weight in gold here .
My dad was everything to me , rest assured I couldn't
have asked for any better in a care home . Thankyou to all of you !

When my husband was first sent to Tunbridge Wells Care Centre from hospital I was very upset, and would have preferred somewhere closer to home. However due to the really good care and improvement in his health, care, and contentment I no longer have any concerns. He is being exceptionally well looked
after, is putting on weight, and is happy.

Tunbridge Wells Care Centre is like home-from-home. Mum was cared for beautifully by lovely carers. Nursing staff were on the ball/kept you informed. Doctors visited regularly. An online portal allowed updates on a daily basis. Mum's room/en-suite was cleaned daily and we never found it dirty. The food
was good with lots of choice. Residents were encouraged to eat or were helped. Residents can wander around the floor where they reside with no restriction, but they are secure. Daily activities were varied. Mum would be up dancing/enjoying the games, the live singers and coffee mornings held in reception. She enjoyed the beautiful garden and the ducks walking around. We sadly lost our mum in July, but we know she was well looked after and so were we as a family. This care home should have a CQC rating of excellent. We spent most of every day/all day with our mum, as there is no restriction on visiting. We would highly recommend this home.
Reply from Donna Barks, Home Manager at Tunbridge Wells Care CentreThank you for a lovely review, your mum became our family along with you, your brother and your dad. My brother has been in the Care Centre for several years now, and I cannot praise the care he receives too highly. All the staff, whatever their status, are warm, friendly, truly caring and draw out the best in him, talking to him about his pet subjects. Their communication with me is also extremely
good. He always looks clean and tidy, and he is extremely happy there, loving the food, activities and his surroundings. The building is light and beautifully designed, and the garden is a delight, where he spends many happy hours. Above all, the Centre is spotlessly clean and smells fresh, unlike other care homes which I visited in the past, in respect of my mother and aunt, and more recently, when looking for a home for my brother. I feel very grateful that the Centre was recommended to me, and I now recommend it to others whenever the opportunity arises.
Reply from Donna Barks, Home Manager at Tunbridge Wells Care CentreThank you for taking the time to write us a lovely review; your brother has many friends in the home, residents and staff, he loves to spend time in the garden, and in the evening he walks around to check all the outside gates are locked, informing the staff that he has completed the checks. I know he loves the ducks and spends many happy hours watching them in the garden.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.810)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.810) out of 10 for Tunbridge Wells Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.810 for Tunbridge Wells Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (261 Excellents x 5) + (39 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 310 Ratings = 4.81
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Tunbridge Wells Care Centre is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
