  • Tunbridge Wells Care Centre, Tunbridge Wells
Tunbridge Wells Care Centre is located in a pleasant residential area of Royal Tunbridge Wells. It offers person-centred nursing, dementia and palliative care, plus all the facilities required to provide maximum comfort for residents.

First impressions are important and when residents enter the chandelier-lit reception area with its airy double-height atrium, they get a strong sense of the quality of the accommodation and lifestyle they will enjoy here. And a warm welcome from the receptionist is typical of the homely environment residents and their families can expect when they join the 'family'.

It is the culture of kindness, respect and consideration that sets Tunbridge Wells Care Centre apart, and staff aim to make residents feel completely comfortable and at home, whatever level of care is needed.

The home offers accommodation for 70 residents in bright, spacious and well-furnished rooms with ensuite facilities spread over three floors. There is lift access throughout, and all areas, including the garden, are wheelchair accessible.

Nursing and care staff are on hand 24/7 on each floor, and they are supported by the domestic team via daily cleaning, laundry and housekeeping services, as well as the administration, facilities, activities and catering teams.

The spacious lounges on each floor are comfortably furnished and equipped with TVs, games and books. These communal areas provide relaxed and intimate spaces where residents can socialise with guests or other residents, and bigger areas where activities take place. The dedicated hair salon provides on-site hairdressing services and is popular with residents.

The large, landscaped garden is a pleasant and comfortable space for activities, socialising or watching the home’s resident ducks at play on a pleasant day!

On fine days, it's the perfect place for a cup of tea and some freshly baked pastries.

The staff at Tunbridge Wells Care Centre are excellent. They are headed up by a fantastic care manager who I cannot praise enough. Her compassion, insights and general running of the care centre are second to none.
The staff always greet you with a smile always happy to talk about the care and being
able to visit whenever one wanted shows true transparency. The care centre feels homely but also like a very nice hotel. The dignity that is shown to the residents at all stages of their lives is wonderful. The care manager is always on hand and accessible to talk things through. I am most impressed.

My mum has just passed away here and I cannot fault her care over the past 2 1/2 years. She has been looked after with compassion, kindness and indeed love by everyone. The carers work so hard to look after everyone so wonderfully and the nurses are trained to care for our loved ones to the highest
levels. Cleaners, laundry, reception, admin, activities, kitchen staff - everyone is friendly and extremely caring. Management should be very proud of the team here at Tunbridge Wells Care Centre and I will be forever grateful for Mum being cared for so well.

Management, nursing staff and carers very attentive to our needs. Great empathy and understanding and our wishes carried out.
Activity staff do a great job as do the cleaning staff.
Food is varied with good options available.
Also happy to prepare foods not on the menu that day.
Some agency staff
need to smile more. More male carers would be good. Reception staff are charming.

I visit the home on an extremely regular basis. At all times the staff and management go above and beyond just caring. A recent sunny day provided the opportunity for the clientele to have lunch alfresco, everyone joined in. Carers, activities staff and kitchen staff all worked extremely hard and you
could feel the happiness and enjoyment it provided. They have my limitless respect. Well done Tunbridge Wells Care Centre (TWCH).

My husband has only been in the home a week, having been transferred by the hospital. I find the staff friendly and caring both to myself and my husband. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for them, I am confident all the staff I have met have his best interests in mind. The rooms are spacious and
clean. The garden is a lovely haven to relax and enjoy the fresh air.

I can't of wished for a better place for my mum to spend the last of her days.
The staff are so caring supportive and genuine. They understand each patient needs and inform relatives of any issues with compassion and support, every care home should be like this. Wishing all the staff best wishes. Thank
you so much for everything, mum was happy here.

We moved my mother to TWCC from another nursing home where she has been treated very badly. From the moment I first walked into TWCC, I knew things would be better. A warm welcome from reception, followed by an excellent and thorough assessment of my mother allayed my fears. All staff, including domestic
staff, have been friendly, compassionate, caring, respectful and shown appropriate humour. My mother has at last been treated with dignity and is enjoying creating and entertaining activities. It is the best decision we made.

My husband is well looked after, treated with respect and very happy here.
All staff - administration, nurses, carers, kitchen, laundry and housekeeping work hard to maintain the level of care.
The activities staff organise a varied range of events and activities throughout the year.
My husband thinks
of the Care Centre as his home.
Family members are always given a warm welcome and kept fully informed of the resident's health and welfare.

Very good care for my father who had multiple health issues which required an increasing degree of intervention. Staff displayed a caring attitude, treating him with respect and engaging him in conversation. The home is clean and comfortable with a nice little garden and meals are served in pleasant
surroundings. Staff gave helpful reports on his situation when we called by.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.810)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.810) out of 10 for Tunbridge Wells Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.810 for Tunbridge Wells Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (261 Excellents x 5) + (39 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 310 Ratings = 4.81
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Tunbridge Wells Care Centre is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
