  • Tunbridge Wells Care Centre, Tunbridge Wells
Tunbridge Wells Care Centre is located in a pleasant residential area of Royal Tunbridge Wells. It offers person-centred nursing, dementia and palliative care, plus all the facilities required to provide maximum comfort for residents.

First impressions are important and when residents enter the chandelier-lit reception area with its airy double-height atrium, they get a strong sense of the quality of the accommodation and lifestyle they will enjoy here. And a warm welcome from the receptionist is typical of the homely environment residents and their families can expect when they join the 'family'.

It is the culture of kindness, respect and consideration that sets Tunbridge Wells Care Centre apart, and staff aim to make residents feel completely comfortable and at home, whatever level of care is needed.

The home offers accommodation for 70 residents in bright, spacious and well-furnished rooms with ensuite facilities spread over three floors. There is lift access throughout, and all areas, including the garden, are wheelchair accessible.

Nursing and care staff are on hand 24/7 on each floor, and they are supported by the domestic team via daily cleaning, laundry and housekeeping services, as well as the administration, facilities, activities and catering teams.

The spacious lounges on each floor are comfortably furnished and equipped with TVs, games and books. These communal areas provide relaxed and intimate spaces where residents can socialise with guests or other residents, and bigger areas where activities take place. The dedicated hair salon provides on-site hairdressing services and is popular with residents.

The large, landscaped garden is a pleasant and comfortable space for activities, socialising or watching the home’s resident ducks at play on a pleasant day!

On fine days, it's the perfect place for a cup of tea and some freshly baked pastries.

My father, an Alzheimer sufferer, spent the last year of his life in this care home. I cannot praise this home enough, the staff, at all levels including, nurses, carers, housekeepers, cooks and laundry staff, worked so hard to make our father and our family comfortable during this difficult time and
treated my father with compassion to the very end of his life. I therefore, cannot recommend this home enough.

My family and I cannot praise the staff and facilities enough at Tunbridge Wells Care Centre. My father was a resident from January 2016 until his passing and was so well cared for throughout that time. Everything was spot on, and I cannot think of a time that I had to complain about anything. My father
was happy and content, and we were too knowing how safe and cared for he was. If only all care homes were like Tunbridge Wells Care Centre! Thank you, all, for taking such wonderful care of our father.

The Tunbridge Wells Care Centre, a 5 star home from home, a place where our loved ones are safe and lovingly cared for by a team of wonderful and hard working staff that always seem happy and always have time to talk to family and friends and always show respect. Staff that not only the ones they care
for us but also for family and friends. Staff are a big help when loved ones are lost too. They all make the centre what it is, a friendly and happy home for our loved ones that we can no longer look after. From day 1 we knew the care would be okay. After a previous year of hell we had with care for mum it was wonderful to have the weight taken away. Thank you all at Tunbridge for an extra wonderful year with mum.

My mother spent the last 7 months of her life in this home (she died in February). She entered the home an anxious, distressed 95 year old woman but she settled in immediately. She was never alone, joined in all the many and varied activities. She went on every shopping trip and took part in everything
that was on offer. My mother ate well, always had beautifully painted and manicured nails and had her hair done regularly. I loved visiting her, everyone was so kind and cheerful and most of all it was fun. I was so happy for her.

My father was admitted from hospital suffering dementia and terminal cancer and care was evident throughout the whole process from his assessment to after his death. The staff at his home are beyond excellent helping my father to remain comfortable (and drug free) to the very end and also kindly helping
my fraught 90 year old mother to cope with the process both emotionally and practically. It goes without saying that the rooms are spotless, food excellent and the facilities for residents and relatives are marvelous. I've seen a few nursing homes and I work as a GP (in a different area) and this one is the best I have encountered, no ignored call bells and no evidence of under staffing, best kindness and compassion.

My friend was admitted after an unfortunate experience in a previous home. I was concerned that she would take a long time to settle because of her Aggressive Anxiety states. However the staff were marvellous and my fears were aborted in that she responded to the care she received. Very soon she
was relaxed and within less than 3 months she is able to converse in a meaningful way although her memory and anxiety persist, much less so, and she loves the staff, food and the care they receive.
I have no qualms in recommending the home to anyone and I speak as a retired nurse.

My father benefited from 2 weeks respite care after a rather traumatic stay in hospital as a result of various falls. He became more physically able and mentally more alert as a result of his two week respite care but did not accept or join in with other residents. he enjoyed the friendly manner of
the staff and was very comfortable in his room.

Despite my husband needing one to one care most of the time as he has quite challenging needs, the staff are always friendly and welcoming to my family and myself and keep me up to date with his condition and incidents. They are always keen to address any medical problems as well as hid deteriorating
Alzheimer's and do their best to keep him clean and tidy whenever possible.

My mother had a stroke 6 months ago and my dad wanted to be with my mother. Tunbridge Well Care Centre have been very helpful and organised admission very quickly and efficiently. My dad although 91, is still active and the staff accompanied him to the local paper shop until he got used to his route.
They
have also taken my parents out for walks. The staff are all very caring and approachable. I am kept regularly informed of any issues regarding my parents. The home is clean and holds regular activities.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.810)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.810) out of 10 for Tunbridge Wells Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.810 for Tunbridge Wells Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (261 Excellents x 5) + (39 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 310 Ratings = 4.81
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Tunbridge Wells Care Centre is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
