Mom was admitted to hospital Dec 2024. I was informed that she was very poorly and needed palliative care. She was returned to Portway House (her home) and at the start of Jan 25 she was slowly picking up. The staff at Portway were so supportive and she is now back to her usual self. I couldn't wish
for a better home for my mom. I have so much peace of mind knowing how well they look after. They are always to listen to me also, if I'm having a bad day. Thank you with all my heart.

Overall good.
Sometimes no interaction with residents, sat apart in the lounge, which makes it difficult to talk to each other.
Residents need to be out in the fresh air now weather is nice, too much sitting inside.
Reply from Lavinia Tudora, Home Manager at Warrens Hall Care Home

Thank you for taking time to share your feedback .We are pleased to hear that your overall impression is good ,and we appreciate your observations regarding residents interaction and time spent outdoors. The residents recently enjoyed spending time in the courtyard ,and as the weather continues to improve ,we have a number of outdoors actives planned to make the most of the sunshine.Thank you once again for the comments ,they will be passed on to the staff at Warrens Hall.

I had no previous experience of other homes. My wife has been here for just over 3 months, where she has had 2 visitors every day.
The staff are very friendly to us all, especially my wife.
After having several weeks in hospital it has been a great relief that my wife is now being cared for.
Sincere
thanks to Warrens Hall Care Home for your continued support.

Mom has always been happy here.
Carers are always friendly.
I think Mom has missed getting around in her wheelchair since she broke her finger. I understand she has received a new safer one, but I don't think she's been in it yet.

Portway House Specialist Care Centre is full of very caring staff. The manager is always there to help with an open-door policy. She is always ready to listen to anything anyone has to say and offer help and advice. The deputy is one in a million and will always go the extra mile to help staff, residents
and family. The care and all other staff are brilliant at what they do, very caring and all work to a very high standard. Once you have been to Portway in any capacity, you will never forget it.

I came here from hospital, I have been here for 3 weeks. Portway House is very big inside with 3 floors for different people. There are activities for all people to do in different ways. It's very well looked after the cleanliness is spot on. I'm waiting for a permanent bed. I thought to myself is this
the place for me? But you know what made my mind up simply it was the people who work here. Carers Nurses Managers activity planner. They put a smile on your face every day. They are the easiest going have a chat with and a laugh with and make you feel very welcome. I think that's the best thing ever being in a different place that's what you need. Comfort and friendly staff. Makes a world of difference. It's hard at first being in a care home but the rooms are lovely nice-sized en suite. Press the buzzer if you need help or a cup of tea. Recommended 10 out of 10 by me. Happy Days.

So many Safeguarding issues! Includes two broken femurs and more falls and bruises than I can remember. Very poor comunication. Clothing ruined, items missing - even after leaving (family pics). Very slow to respond to official communication if at all. Mom has gone from feeding herself, sitting in the
lounge and talking to nonverbal, bedridden and is so weak.
Reply from Kam Kaur, Home Manager at Newbury Manor Nursing Home

Thank you for your review and comments. Ensuring patient safety is of utmost importance, and while we cannot completely eliminate falls, we can certainly take measures to reduce the associated risks. It is essential to acknowledge that certain health deteriorations and comorbidities are beyond our control. However, please rest assured that any issues that arise are addressed in accordance with our home's policies and procedures. We sincerely apologize if you feel otherwise, and we hope that your mom is finding happiness in our sister home.

Do not place a loved one in here. My Dad was a resident for 14 months and only had 1 shower in all that time and we had to beg for that! Some of the staff are rude and think nothing of shouting in your face when asked questions about the lack of basic care your loved one receives. The food was the same
slop, day in and day out. It is no surprise that Dad stopped eating and lost a lot of weight! When in an emergency, DIY as it takes staff 5 mins to arrive after the emergency bell is pushed, our Dad nearly choked to death! He's been left sitting in his own mess, as a high-risk choker he's been laid nearly flat and has the bedroom door closed so he can't raise the alarm if needed as he's bedbound! There's zero interaction in activities for bedbound residents, they're just left in their rooms alone. The manager, well, just beware, she's not as friendly as she pretends! And she lies! Sorry, but it is the truth and we have evidence! She evicted our Dad due to our complaints of lack of basic care! Disgusting place.
Reply from Faye Gailey, Home Manager at Portway House Specialist Care Centre

Thank you for your review and comments. When your father was admitted into Portway House, the team ensured that all care preferences were discussed with the family upon admission. Many discussions were had with many family members about the care and food provisions within Portway House to try and meet the needs of your Father. All of the concerns that you have made were raised with management and higher management via our complaints policy and were investigated and evidence based responses were provided to family members, social services as well as CQC. We wish your father health and happiness in his new placement and wish you all the best for the future.
