Thank you for your very kind review. It was an absolute pleasure providing care and support for your mum, and being able to support you, and your siblings to spend some quality time with your mum. I only wish we had more time to get to know your mum better, and have more time for those wonderful stories you all shared. It is inspirational how you all wrapped around your mum, providing emotional, physical, and spiritual support to your mum right up to the end. How you accepted where your mum was on her journey and kept watch, her children around her in the room, sharing stories, reading her bible and poetry, is a testament to your cultural roots. In my 40 years as a carer and nurse, I have never experienced the dept of spiritual peace your mum demonstrated up to her last breath. I shall never forget this and wish that I will show the same strength when my time comes. We are proud of our staff, and the fact they wrap around families and not just the resident. Thank you for your kind comment. Your mum is a pleasure to care for, and her sense of humour brilliant (personally give me a boost). She keeps us on our toes with her knowledge of the world of care, instructing us on how she wants support provided. It is wonderful to see her face light up when any of her children visit, and even more so when grandchildren come too. You are right; some people look at glossy brochures and amazing new builds and think that is it when in fact its the love care and attention that takes place within the care home that is the magic. We are a home that has stood the test of time over the last 39 years, and are still going strong.

It saddened me when I first met your dad in another care environment which failed him; a place that didn't appear to listen to him, both his words and actions. The right thing to do was to step in and support him and his family.

When your dad moved into Plessington Court the important things were to listen to him, see him 1st and his condition (a label) 2nd, be patient, treat him with dignity & respect, and work with family to get things right. What is important to us in Chapel House is that anyone in the end stages of their life have their loved ones around them, are symptom free, and have a peaceful passing. We talk about someone having "a good death" in our care, something we would never advertise, but you have experienced. You really wrapped around your mum and stood beside us as we got things right for your mum, so a big thank you to you and the rest of the family. For us, person centred care doesnt stop at the moment your mum passes; we offer bereavement support through our Admiral Nurses based in the home should you or any of the family wish their support. Read less

She has taken everything in her stride, made Plessington Court her home, and has helped others to settle in. It is lovely to see how connected she is with her family with regular post cards, visits, and social media. It has only been a success due to the whole family working closely with us to ensure your mums move went smoothly; starting with that initial visit to us, my visit to mum in the hospital, all the family visiting, decision time, and then the actual move in.
