Eothen Homes Ltd provides care for the elderly with a focus on Christian values where all residents’ spiritual needs are met. The group is a charity and was established in 1950 offering high standards of individualised care to their residents.

Eothen Homes have three care homes situated in Sutton, Gosforth and Whitley Bay, each of which have dedicated and highly trained professionals providing personal and 'home-from-home' care.

It also has a home in Wallsend which offers a ground-breaking model of care in which each person’s quality of life is the overriding priority, taking precedence over structured processes and schedules. The focus is on independence and wellbeing through a relationship-centred style of support involving the person with dementia, their family and friends.

Each home is set in attractive and spacious gardens and are all situated close to local high streets and public transport links, allowing those who are used to leading an active life to continue in this way.

Eothen offers everything we were looking for when we were searching for a care home. We were grateful for their excellent advice around talking to an elderly person about moving into a home.
The staff are highly committed and caring and did everything possible to make my mother welcome: everyone seemed
to know her (and us) immediately. Because the home is very relaxed, she has retained a sense of her independence while enjoying a wider range of activities and social interaction than before.
The building is cosy and my Mum has enjoyed getting out in the gardens every day with a member of staff.
She feels at home.

The staff at Eothen (Gosforth) put a lot of effort into making all the residents feel safe and cared for. They are all friendly, caring and create a lovely homely atmosphere. There is an excellent range of activities and residents are encouraged to participate. It gives the family a lot of comfort

This care home is not only really well run, but also it has a lovely, caring atmosphere. My mother was made very welcome here when she first arrived. She has been a resident here for several years, and I have not had any concerns about her care in that time. I would not hesitate to recommend the home

My partner recently passed away in this specialist Care Home after almost 2 years. Initially, I was able to take her out to continue her outside interests including choirs and concerts. This never caused a problem even when returning after 10pm. The last 10 months were particularly hard as she lost
a lot of weight and was having difficulty in chewing so was moved onto a 'soft food' diet i.e. basically pureed food. This was specially prepared and was made to look as real as as possible: I was initially taken in by the carrots and peas! In the last four months, her needs became more demanding with 2 carers needed for all movements, personal care etc. The care she received was exemplary and was never too much and always given with a smile even after 11.5 hours of working. In her final days, she and I were shown the maximum compassion and contact was always promptly made; the liaison between the home and the medical practice is extremely strong and helped greatly in the last weeks.

My mam has been in care with eothan for almost 2 years now and to be honest there was nowhere else we would of let her be.
When we knew the time came for her to leave her home behind, Eothan was the first and only choice for us as a family.
Our precious mam made herself at home straight away, and
the staff soon got to know her character and she settled really well.
Christine the manager is so lovely (and all the office staff) really understood our worries but gave us so much confidence and reassurance that we knew straight away our mam was going to be in good hands.
The staff in all houses are just lovely and I would like to say a heartfelt thankyou to them all. Nothing is any trouble to them and we now know most of them really well.
The surroundings inside and out are also exceptional, warm homely and very comfortable - Thankyou for keeping our mam safe and loved, her family are beyond grateful for what you all do for Sheila. X

Mum has struggled to settle in but I think it will take time and the staff are wonderfully patient with her.


I can't fault her care, and all the staff are warm and friendly.


An additional benefit for me personally is that it's close enough for me to visit easily.

My mother is very happy at Eothen, Whitley Bay. Care and support are excellent, and the residents are treated with dignity by the staff. The garden view is greatly treasured.

My mother-in-law has been a resident at Eothen for almost a year and we visit her at least once a week.
We find the staff very professional and kind, and they are always responsive to any concerns we may have, whether that is medical or personal.
They always treat my mother-in-law with dignity and
respect, and I find the care and management team always attentive and always keep us informed of any changes. The care home is clean and always smells fresh, and there are daily activities to keep the residents engaged. We would recommend Eothen Care Home to anyone requiring care and we feel reassured knowing our mother-in-law is safe and well cared for.

I am very happy with the care my mother receives in the Gosforth care home. She is always treated with respect and enjoys taking part in the activities.
She enjoys the choices of food.
I am delighted with the refurbishment carried to the building and particularly enjoy being able to have a cup of
coffee with her in the Dining / Lounge rather that sitting on her bed in her room.
I find the staff and managers very approachable and friendly whenever I visit

My mam is in your Wallsend Care Home. It is absolutely beautiful staff are amazing with her. It is spotlessly clean and a lovely bedroom. Mam has settled in well, and we have no problems with anything. They let me know if Mam needs her pull ups or toiletries. It looks like a 5* hotel and not a care
home.

Dad has settled well, and we are all pleased with the home and care. It is so easy to visit and feel welcome, and to contact management by phone is important. We like seeing the photos of him joining in and the weekly printed diary, too. The food is better than previous home due to in house kitchen.
