Dad has had 2 stays of 1 week duration for respite care at Eothen and I was so impressed with the care.
Louise, the manager is approachable and professional and her team provide really personalised care.
On dad's first day there the staff arranged for mam & dad to have lunch together in the family
lounge / dining room, which they both appreciated so much.
The activities coordinator is fantastic, she really encourages everyone to take part, with a range of activities.
The food is home cooked, of really good quality, with lovely home made bite size treats offered mid morning & afternoon.
The rooms are spacious and the home is clean & comfortable, with beautiful grounds, full of colour.
There is a warm and friendly atmosphere in Eothen, which provides great comfort to the residents and their relatives.

Eothen Homes Wallsend is fantastic. In my view, it is an insult to call it a 'care home', it is more a village for people with dementia and their families. My father is cared for by an exemplary team of people, all the staff are so friendly, always smiling and can't do enough to help. There are activities
on twice a day, the food is lovely, there's always a cuppa and biscuits! Entertainers visit regularly, a local football group comes and takes residents to play football, even ice creams vans come! I have watched my Dad flourish with the care he receives and the daily activities designed to stimulate his brain and keep his body healthy. Thank you Eothen for being amazing every day

Dad has settled really well into Eothen at Gosforth and we are delighted with our choice of care home. We had anticipated more difficulties with the transition from being at home to him being looked after full-time. However, much to our surprise, after less than 2 weeks trial, he told us that he wanted
to stay. He enjoys having his meals cooked for him, he's made new friends, and he joins in with many of the activities. His life seems so much more interesting than sitting at home on his own and fretting about his meals. He does still get confused and repetitive at times but the staff are so caring and patient. And the managers are visible and available if we have any concerns. I can't recommend highly enough!
As one resident said to me, there may be homes that are fancier and more modern but you won't beat Eothen for the friendly atmosphere and quality of care

The care & support offered to my relative since admission has been exemplary. Key staff and management show an excellent understanding of her changing needs and respond with sensitivity and professionalism to address these and ease her anxieties. We have also been made to feel very welcome and are grateful
for the on going support for a through a difficult transition in her life.
Staff feedback, both informal or through reviews is detailed and very useful to us and inform and support her other health assessment processes. On a regular basis, we have witnessed the sensitive and caring attitude from staff to other residents, reflecting the nurturing ethos behind Eothen's philosophy. Their humour and adaptive approaches is testimony to how well staff know and care for their different residents, to ensure their safety and well-being.

My mum has Alzheimers and has been at Eothen just over 6 months. I am over the moon with how Mum has settled in. I can't praise the whole Eothen team enough.
We had an extremely difficult start and first few months. The team helped me and my sister manage one of the most difficult periods of our
lives with compassion, patience and some much needed humour. From the start, we have been listened to and been part of decision making. They have excelled in finding what works best for Mum and involving us.
The most wonderful thing is to see Mum now. She has blossomed. Before she came into Eothen she had become almost nocturnal, was asleep most of the time, couldn't manage her personal hygiene and had lost interest in most things. It was extremely distressing.
Now at Eothen, Mum smiles whenever I see her and is always up, clean and dressed. She gives me huge hugs and is the happiest and healthiest I have seen her in years.

My dad is 94 years old and he's been living alone in his home since my mum died in 2011. It became more clear he needed extra care. We knew it was important to find the correct home that suited his varying/increasing needs. In Eothen Homes we have done just that.
We can't believe how blessed we all
are as dad seems to have settled in so well. He seems to have a new lease of life.
Thank you Eothen.

My partner has been in Eothen Homes almost a year ago.
Since then she has received care and attention second to none.
This home is always clean; tidy and free from annoying smells.
The staff are always willing to help with any situation and everything is done with a smile.
I may be looking for
a place there myself.

Eothen Care Homes Gosforth is a very happy family home, as a resident we are cared for be excellent carers they are more like family and friends and are always there to help and comfort you when necessary, we can all have fun together and laugh. I would also like to mention we have a excellent manager
and also her team who are also excellent and will help with anything. I have visited many family and friends in various homes in the region, Eothen above all really stands out. I came originally for respite and stayed on, I have now been here for 2 and half years and I am very happy. I can certainly recommend Eothen-Gosforth. The rooms are well looked after by the excellent domestics.

My partner has been in Eothen for 14 months since when her dementia and associated issues have progressed. All the staff know her by name even when she is not in their immediate locality or direct care. The residents are able to walk around the whole house (over 2-3 floors) and grounds without the risk
of moving outside the safety and security of the home such that it can take time to locate her! Whilst she is able to partake, I continue to take her to attend her 'hobby' interests which can often mean we return late in the evening (10pm ish) when staff numbers are naturally reduced but this has never caused any issues and she is always greeted with a smile and a chat whilst she has a cup of tea. As her health issues deteriorate, I am being kept fully informed and receiving helpful advice. The activities are varied and all are encouraged to take part (some more successfully than others but always with much help and laughter from the carers involved.)

Mum moved into Eothen Whitley Bay in somewhat distressed circumstances and from start they were very supportive and flexible. Everybody is very nice, everybody knows her name, she enjoys the food, and there are beautiful gardens that she has a view over which has really helped with settling in. Whilst
it is always going to be a difficult process for the heart, my head is 100% sure that this was the right decision.

Since moving into Eothen Gosforth, my Father has thrived. The care he receives is consistently high and all the staff are friendly and understanding. He has enjoyed making new friends with other residents and team members. The gardens are always in bloom and can be enjoyed on warmer days by the residents
on the patio areas. Communications from the team regarding my Father's health and any other requirements have always been clear and timely.

This is probably the best care home of which I know. I am now very immobile, so can no longer live alone. Living here inevitably involves some loss of independence - but I've lost that anyway. I am consistently treated with dignity. The staff are efficient, kind, and patient. There seems to be
a very low staff turnover.
I am able to have supper in my room, at a civilised hour - not at 4.30, when it is served in the dining room. The food is usually acceptable, and often excellent, although vegetables tend to be over-cooked.
My room is very pleasant, with a good outlook, and I've been able to bring a lot of personal effects from my former house, which makes it feel like home. Many other residents are much older, and I am quite deaf, so conversation is seriously limited, but - thanks to the internet - I am able to maintain contact with a wide circle of people.
The quiet Christian ethos fosters an atmospehere of generous mutual acceptance.

It's impossible to describe just how amazing Wallsend Eothen Homes is. Everything from the home itself and its relaxed, homely environment to the most incredible caring staff. Everyone in this home, from the manager to the cleaners and chefs, knows the residents and cares about their well-being. After
having a terrible experience before coming to this home, mum is so happy and settled - it's definitely become her second home. I can't recommend this home more highly!

I would not hesitate to recommend Eothen Wallsend to those who have family or friends with dementia. The staff are fantastic and cannot do enough for the residents. The environment doesn't feel in any way like a medical facility, but a home. Lots of activities are arranged for the residents to keep
them as engaged as possible. Just wish we had found the place sooner.
