Could not have asked for a more friendly/professional/helpful/courteous staff, they have all exceeded all my expectations. The way they treat everyone with empathy and fulfil everyone's needs, I cannot express my gratitude in helping our family in these difficult times. Cheers.

My partner recently passed away in this specialist Care Home after almost 2 years. Initially, I was able to take her out to continue her outside interests including choirs and concerts. This never caused a problem even when returning after 10pm. The last 10 months were particularly hard as she lost
a lot of weight and was having difficulty in chewing so was moved onto a 'soft food' diet i.e. basically pureed food. This was specially prepared and was made to look as real as as possible: I was initially taken in by the carrots and peas! In the last four months, her needs became more demanding with 2 carers needed for all movements, personal care etc. The care she received was exemplary and was never too much and always given with a smile even after 11.5 hours of working. In her final days, she and I were shown the maximum compassion and contact was always promptly made; the liaison between the home and the medical practice is extremely strong and helped greatly in the last weeks.

My mam has been in care with eothan for almost 2 years now and to be honest there was nowhere else we would of let her be.
When we knew the time came for her to leave her home behind, Eothan was the first and only choice for us as a family.
Our precious mam made herself at home straight away, and
the staff soon got to know her character and she settled really well.
Christine the manager is so lovely (and all the office staff) really understood our worries but gave us so much confidence and reassurance that we knew straight away our mam was going to be in good hands.
The staff in all houses are just lovely and I would like to say a heartfelt thankyou to them all. Nothing is any trouble to them and we now know most of them really well.
The surroundings inside and out are also exceptional, warm homely and very comfortable - Thankyou for keeping our mam safe and loved, her family are beyond grateful for what you all do for Sheila. X

My mam is in your Wallsend Care Home. It is absolutely beautiful staff are amazing with her. It is spotlessly clean and a lovely bedroom. Mam has settled in well, and we have no problems with anything. They let me know if Mam needs her pull ups or toiletries. It looks like a 5* hotel and not a care
home.

This home is wonderful, friendly and caring staff who care for the residents in a way that can not be any better. Before mum was admitted, we viewed other homes, but found this to be the best. Nowhere else is this good.

This care home in Wallsend is outstanding, the staff are brilliant and go above and beyond to care for my mam.
Nothing is a problem, for them, mam is very happy here. I would not want her anywhere else. This place is spotlessly clean. This is more like a hotel than a care home.

After looking at other care homes found this home by far the best. Care staff are all great. Can't do enough for my mam. Care home is like a hotel, lovely. Mam loves food, everything clean, bedroom lovely, staff always happy and polite. Always activities on for Mam. They make sure Mam has fluids and
medication, can not fault this facility enough.

We are very grateful for Simon's place at Eothan. He is settled and calm in himself, very well supported by staff who know him well and gently encourage him to make choices and remain independent where he can. The fact that residents can go freely throughout the building and into the garden is a very
positive aspect of the excellent care offered ( the only locked door is the main exit to the car park).
His bedroom is beautiful; spacious and airy with its own ensuite.
Activities in Simon's house hold are imaginative and fun. It was good to know he joins in enthusiastically.

Staff always greet the family and are easy to approach. Our experience has been that any queries or concerns are addressed immediately.

Christine, the manager, is excellent.

Eothen Care Home, Wallsend,, has quite simply, taken over the care of our beloved mam, when we could no longer give her the level of care she needed. Our family is truly thankful we were able to place her there, as it is a much sought after establishment. Its reputation precedes it, and rightly so.
It is a beautiful home whose ethos is rooted firmly in the happiness of its residents.

It will be two years this coming April, since our mam has lived at Eothen, and we can tell that she is loved and very well cared for. It is an easy going atmosphere where all residents have the freedom to move around at their leisure, whilst being monitored at the same time. The staff and management are lovely and very approachable, nothing is too much trouble for them.

I feel that special bonds have been forged between my mam, our family and all staff. We all feel very comfortable with each other. It is, after all, my mam's home now.

I can't praise the staff at Eothen Homes enough, their dedication, compassion and kindess towards all the residents is second to none. When we took the decision to place Mum in residential care it was one of the hardest things my brother and I had to do, as you worry are you doing the right thing. My
Mum has now been living at Eothen for the last 2 years and the change in her is unbelievable. You can see and feel that the staff really care about the job they do, they treat all residents with dignity and really take the time to get to know everyone's individual needs and see that they are met. They have not only been there for my Mum but also for myself and my brother, their professionalism knows no bounds. I can say without a doubt I would highly recommend Eothen Homes Wallsend to anyone looking for residential care. I cannot thank the staff enough for the care they have given to my Mum.

My sister has been at this care home for over a year now and the care she is receiving is excellent. The management and staff are all very helpful and approachable. I was very upset knowing my sister had to move into full time care, however, from the initial visit I felt supported by everyone I met.
I know my sister is safe and cared for and settled in her new home.
The home itself is always clean and well maintained. The garden areas are also very well maintained and a lovely place to go for a walk or sit outside when the weather is good. Since being in the home my sister has taken part in various activities as well as several trips out too which she has enjoyed. I am very grateful to all the team at Eothen Wallsend for the care and ongoing support they provide.

Beautiful and well maintained gardens greet you upon arrival. The reception is clean and well presented together with a friendly welcome. Upon entering the home itself it always has a fresh smell and not unpleasant aromas. The lifts are also clean and fresh which is most pleasing. The rooms are well
fitted out and have all the needs that you would expect to find in any comfortable living space. The bathroom and shower are cleaned daily and the litter bin is emptied daily too. The staff are friendly, loving and caring. They constantly supply drinks to everyone. The activity planning is excellent and is issued on a weekly basis covering a wide selection of activities to keep mind and body engaged. Overall, a very pleasant environment.

I can't praise Eothen Homes enough for the care and support they have not only given my mam, but to us as family, in what is a very emotive and difficult time. It is never easy to make the decision to move someone from their home into residential care, especially when they don't recognise they need
that extra help and whilst we knew it was the right decision for her, it was hard for us as a family to watch her initially struggle with it all. From the first enquiry, through to my mam going in, the staff have been brilliant and they could not have been more supportive and caring if they tried. It is obvious they are experienced and genuinely care about the people and the service they provide; they recognise that one size does not fit all and as a family we can see the positive changes. My mam is eating again, looking more like her old self and it is down to how they have navigated the situation with encouragement, dignity, humour and care. I couldn't be happier with the choice we made

All staff are absolutely amazing. Thoughtful, caring and very attentive and attend to my dad's needs with dignity and compassion. The rooms are immaculate and secure, there are plenty of activities on offer and well-being exercises if my dad wishes to participate. The food on offer is top quality. Can

My mam moved into Eothen Homes on 20/03/25 - a day in my mind I will never forget. Without a doubt, this was emotional and upsetting - that said, the decision had to be made and the staff there supported this with compassion, understanding and real empathy. All of them deserve thanks and appreciation
from me, my husband and my dad, as without them, I don't know how we would have moved on. They are all like friends now when we visit, and nothing is too much for them. Thank you!

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.974)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.974) out of 10 for Eothen Homes is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 39 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.974 for Eothen Homes is calculated as follows: ( (454 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 465 Ratings = 4.974
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Eothen Homes is based on 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8, which has been reached with 39 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
