Eothen Homes - Wallsend provides an innovative model of care in which a person's quality of life is considered to be the home's main priority. Staff focus on promoting independence and well-being while delivering relationship-centred support to residents with dementia, their families and friends.

The home is split into several households, each with their own kitchen, dining room and lounge areas, while residents at the home have access to spaces where they can enjoy hobbies and activities.

Staff at the home are not required to wear uniforms and work in their designated households, supporting the people living there.

The home has its own large outdoor areas with a special reminiscence areas and an old-style touring caravan to evoke memories of holidays in the past. Residents can also enjoy a sensory garden with birds, animals and plants.

A friendly, reliable, and above all caring staff make a difficult decision (putting one’s loved one into a home) bearable. I know he is safe, well cared for, and protected. Indeed he is being better cared for than me!

Mum was so well cared for by the team at Eothen Homes in the last year of her life. When things got too much for her to remain at home safely as her Alzheimer’s progressed, the family were so pleased to find Eothen Homes Wallsend. It suited her needs perfectly and the staff were always kind and caring
and she looked so much better than when she had been at home. Covid restrictions prevented the family from being able to join her in the home as much as we would have liked but we were always made welcome and the staff worked hard to accommodate visits from my brother who had to travel from Manchester to see mum. In her final few weeks we were allowed regular access and the support was tremendous. A lovely place.

The staff at the home are absolutely fantastic. My great granda suffers from Alzheimer’s and he was so scared to leave his home and move here. He settled in straight away and absolutely loves it. Couldn’t fault the home or the staff.

My father recently moved into Eothen Homes in Wallsend as a permanent resident. He settled in straight away which is a relief and the change in him since he went in is unbelievable. He is so much happier, laughing and joking again which is lovely to see and knowing he is receiving the care and attention
he needs is great. The staff and management team are excellent and make it the perfect home it is today.

Words cannot convey how special a place Eothen in Wallsend is. My mam has lived there for two and a half years now and is extremely happy and well cared for. The staff are truly wonderful and go above and beyond in the care they give to my mam. The home itself is akin to a five-star hotel. Light, airy,
spacious. A central hub of kitchen, dining room and lounge sits in between the two houses on each floor giving residents a wonderful place to sit and eat, either at one of the tables or at the long breakfast bar (where they can chat to the staff working in the kitchen area) or to retire to the spacious, comfortable lounge to watch TV or carry out one of the many activities available. There are 'bar' nights, popcorn and movie afternoons, games, crafts, music, and more. The food is home-cooked on the premises and delicious. The pandemic must have been extremely difficult for the staff. Knowing mam was happy and safe made not being able to see her for long periods more bearable. 10/10.

My sister has been fortunate enough to reside at Eothen in Wallsend since July 2020. Prior to arriving there, she was a resident in another home in the area where I watched her slowly decline. From day 1 she was settled, happy, and displaying her great sense of humour, despite her dementia. I have my
sister back thanks to the love, care, and devotion of her carers, and the freedom she is allowed to just be herself. The home is beautiful and kept in pristine condition but more importantly, the whole of the staff, chefs, domestic workers, laundry staff, and handymen (sorry if I have missed anyone out) all take time to speak with the residents and know them by name. All management are approachable, caring and constantly keeping the families updated, not easy in these difficult times. Well done to everyone you all deserve 5 stars! Thank you.

A lovely home with caring staff, who enable residents to continue being themselves whilst living with dementia. The layout of each house provides a central hub, which means there are no dreary corridors like some homes and the decor is bright and homely. The Resident's rooms are spacious and tastefully
furnished. The whole ambience of the place is light, airy and cheerful. Our mum feels at home, tells us the food is very good and enjoys going to the hairdressers each week. Visiting during covid has been upbeat, in thoughtfully furnished visiting rooms and staff have been helpful in facilitating family Skype calls. I would certainly recommend Eothen, Wallsend.

Everything about this beautiful home is, in my opinion excellent. Even in these difficult COVID times, the care my mum gets is second to none. I know that she is as happy as can be expected. We get regular updates on any health issues etc. The management are always available to chat or answer any questions.

My Mother is a resident of Collingwood House in Eothen Wallsend and she is really well looked after. All the staff are really caring and friendly and they go the extra mile to look after my mam who is really happy living there. During these challenging times, we haven’t been able to see Mam as much
as we would like but have had regular calls and we are just happy that she is safe and happy.

The most beautiful and fantastic home inside and out. After my mam had a horrendous time at another home, the manager and her fabulous staff welcomed my mam with open arms, I knew then she was in very good hands. Fab with communication and all so polite and friendly when I call. When I see my mam now
she’s smiling, looks presentable, smells lovely and well fed and watered, all her needs are truly met without hesitation. Couldn’t be happier that my mam is a part of this Eothen family.

My grandma has recently moved into Eothen Homes. The care is outstanding and very person centred. Their ethos is very caring and compassionate and aimed at the needs of those with dementia. Nothing is ever too much to ask and they ensure the safety of their residents at all times.

My mam went into Eothen Homes in April this year. I have never seen such a change in a woman. She is chatty again, she is always smiling, she has put on weight, and that is thanks to all your staff; they are such a lovely bunch of people, so caring.

My mum has just had respite care at the Eothen Home Wallsend. I cannot praise the staff highly enough for their care and compassion. The layout of the home is really good, and different food choices were available. Mum was entertained with activities and enjoyed the gardens and having her hair done.
She had an enjoyable stay.

Over the past 15-months or so, Eothen has had strict measures in place to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus. As a result, visits have been severely restricted. During this difficult period, the home has kept in regular contact with us and sent photographs of the various internal activities with
which my mother-in-law has been involved. She has remained very well despite the restrictions imposed and has been settled throughout - evidenced perhaps by the fact that she has gained weight! Visits, albeit on a limited basis, have resumed, and it is obvious on seeing her again that she has received and continues to receive the highest level of care. The visiting arrangements are well organised, and the safety of residents remains paramount. On our visits, mother-in-law is always dressed very nicely with her hair done beautifully. The carers are great with her, and she relates to them very readily, obviously enjoying and appreciating all they do for her. We appreciate everything too!

This year has been our first experience of a care home and due to COVID has been extremely difficult to continue to care for my wife. Eothen Wallsend was a delightful, reassuring discovery when Alzheimer’s made it necessary to seek 24/7 care for my 93-year-old mother. Over the past 2½ years, it has been brilliant for my mum to use her rollator to wander out of her en-suite room into large, open, bright, cheerful spaces where she can
walk happily, safe in the care of wonderful staff who are always ready to chat, cuddle and involve Mum in activities as well as meeting all of her care needs. The facilities are great, including a charming garden area, but above all, I want to praise the incredible staff who make Eothen the gem that it is. Before the emergence of Covid-19, I felt that the staff were amazing; I now think they are even more than amazing. Sincere thanks.

Due to the covid 19 problem, my experience of the actual operation inside the home is fairly limited at the moment. But those staff that I have met at reception or visiting have been pleasant, helpful, and keep me informed of my wife's actions and acceptance of her condition at all times.

The staff are very caring and professional. They take excellent care of my mam and are incredibly patient and kind to her. Due to Covid, this has been very difficult to maintain contact, but they have done everything possible to alleviate any concerns and reassure our family.

Good people as carers and admin staff very efficient. Mum's room looks out onto well-kept gardens and she can watch the birds from her window. All the furniture including carpeting is provided and kept clean by the staff. There is an internet service available to connect loved ones with absent friends
and family who cannot visit in person. Medication is strictly controlled by house leaders and onsite management. Lovely place to visit.
