The care home and staff excellent. Staff looked after residents very well. Food good. Sometimes unfortunately residents have to wait too long for toilet help. I visit twice per week all excellent.

Fernlea has created, a caring and supportive home for my father, in which he feels, safe and secure.
His room and the communal areas are always clean and tidy. I have witnessed regular deep cleaning, refurbishment & redecoration throughout the home. The dining area is always clean and laid out for
meals.
I have never walked in the home & experienced any unpleasant aromas.
I have witnessed that all the staff, know my father by name and chat to him. I have always found them polite and pleasant to me. The welcome at reception and the security relating to visitors is very comforting to myself as a relative. The management staff are available & very supportive with both advice & concerns relating to having a relative in care.
The weekly entertainment program and the involvement of the adjacent nursery children, provides a positive opportunity for socialising & helps the residents wellbeing.
I have witnessed that the Clinic manager & team are well organised, knowledgeable & handle medication safely & securely. There is a good relationship between the local GP practise nurse and the clinic so any concerns are promptly & efficiently managed.
Dad & I are very happy with Fernlea.

Every member of staff is polite, friendly and professional, from reception staff, cleaners, cooks, entertainers and management. Even the maintenance team say hello. Fernlea is a team. All the staff work together and step in to help each other. This works. All residents are well cared for, smile and
seem settled in their surroundings. Knowwhere and no one can be perfect, but Olea and Fernlea definitely do their best from what I have seen in the last 6 months.

Fernlea is a fantastic carehome with amazing staff that really care about the residents needs, you can really feel their passion for their work and how it's not just a job to them. The facilities are like no other, it has everything you could want, like a 5 star hotel. The selection of food and drinks
are superb and you only have to ask if there's something else you would like, they will always do their best to accommodate for you. With regards to the management, they are on a different level when it comes to compassion and understanding. They helped us every step of the way, keeping us informed all the time, I can't thank them enough for everything they have done for our family. The entertainment/activities department is also just as brilliant, always encouraging residents to get involved and has a busy itinerary everyday to suits everyone's needs and abilities. The overall cleanliness of the place is spot on, always clean as a whistle and has a lovely fresh scent to the place.

I visited on a day when my friend was taking part in a quiz for residents in the common room. Well attended, good fun, lots of interaction between staff and clientele. Spent a little time in the room (with attention from a member of the care staff). Having taken my friend to the dining room, I departed.
All very impressive. Fernlea is a terrific place!

Everyone is very caring towards my mum - but because she still wants to be so independent sometimes I feel that she gets left a bit before anyone is pro- active
Other than that mum is gradually getting used to living here.
Reply from Louise Claffey, Marketing Manager at FernleaThank you for your lovely review and for sharing your thoughts, I will ensure the team receives your kind words. We're really pleased to hear that your mum is gradually settling in and that you feel she's well cared for. We appreciate your comment about independence. I will pass this onto our team and we'll make sure we continue to balance giving your mum space with being proactive when support is needed. If you have any recommendations or suggestions, please always feel free to speak to our manager or our excellent care team - they are always willing to listen and happy to help.

The only real complaint I have is that there should be 4 staff on each floor all the time, as the patients who ned 2 people to toilet them can wait over 1 hour.
Reply from Louise Claffey, Marketing Manager at FernleaThank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, while we are glad the rest of your experience has been positive, we strive to provide timely support for all our residents, so we were surpirsed to read your comments regarding waiting times. We will review the points you have raised to ensure our staffing and response procedures continue to meet the standards we expect. While we appreciate receiving feedback through any means, we would strongly reccommend speaking to us at the time so we can look into the situation immediately.

We visited a friend who has recently moved to Doves Nest.
We were very impressed by:
1. The helpful receptionist.
2. The helpful staff who collected our friend from the TV room so that we could speak to him in his (quieter) room.
3. The staff bringing round drinks.
4. The modern style and decoration
of the rooms.
5. The cleanliness (and lack of smell).
6. the friend's room was tidy but still had personal items.
Our friend seemed very content to be there and was happy with the food.
We are not aware of any activities for residents or whether they have an activities coordinator.

Mum was accepted into Doves Nest Nursing Home at short notice and we were all welcomed so warmly by the staff. Mum had received end of life care within the home with the support of carers & the hospice at home doctors & palliative care, but we had reached crisis point and needed additional help. Doves
Nest was our saviour!

My mum was moved to Doves Nest Nursing Home from hospital on end of life care. The hospital, unfortunately, didn't pass on all of her requirements to the home, but that didn't prevent the staff from putting everything into place asap. One nurse in particular should have the biggest shout-out as she
made this happen. Your professionalism and vigilance is exemplary and is equalled by your never waning kindness and empathy to my mum and my elderly father and I. You are the home. Your presence and smile alone make it the success it is. You will forever have a place in my heart.
Another staff member each day would check I was ok emotionally, even making sure I was fed and watered. Thank you.
Another staff member's words as you hugged me when mum passed will stay with me always.
Every member of staff including maintenance, reception, kitchen, care
assistants...you are all incredibly special. You ensured that my mum's final few days were calm, and as peaceful as could be for her and my family.
Thank you

My friend didn't want to go into a care home which is understandable I don't think anyone really wants to leave their own home if they have been happy there. Now she has settled in and likes it she only asks about her own flat once in a blue moon, she joins in all the activities and is in serious competition
with another resident for the scrabble cup for top player. My friend says the food is nice and whenever we go a nice person from the kitchen will make us a drink. The way the staff talk to the residents is lovely, they obviously know a lot about them and care for and about them a great deal, but the one big thing I notice is it doesn't smell like a care home & I've been and looked round others that do. Thank you to the staff who treat my friend like their friend it really is appreciated a great deal.

The outstanding feature I see at Fernlea is that all of the staff who I have come into contact with, care. The word care in this situation covers all aspects of my mother's care. From meals, to entertainment. From personal care to visits out. Not forgetting all the emotional/religious support given
when her loved ones die. This care does not stop with my mother, the staff at Fernlea care for the whole family.
Yes, there are times when my mother doesn't have her call bell answered within a few minutes, but that is usually at the times of day when everyone needs to go to the bathroom. The social activities range is very varied, and should suit most tastes. When moving into a care environment my mother had 2 wishes, to have an ensuite and to have a bacon sandwich for breakfast that someone else cooked. She has her wishes and I can see that although it is not her own home, she is very settled at Fernlea and is being exceptionally well looked after.

My Dad has recently moved to Fernlea from living independently at home. Sadly, his health declined and after a very hard decision, he moved to Fernlea. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a very caring team and as a family, we felt so very reassured by this. My Dad has settled so well and just feels at
home. He's absolutely delighted with the care and wellbeing he is receiving by all the staff. I know he's now in a safe and caring residential home which gives me such peace of mind.

What more can I say other than I'm so glad I waited for a placement for my mum here. The quality of the food and facilities is by far the best we have seen in the North Manchester and Failsworth areas. The neighbourhood is excellent, no gangs of youths hanging around. Don't be put off by it being in
Newton Heath, it is an oasis that should really be under Clayton Bridge. The staff will do anything for you at the drop of a hat from the management to the maintenance team. The best team of people working in the best environment always makes a difference. Go visit it, it is more like a hotel than a care home. You do pay more but you get what you pay for, thats for sure.

A very pleasant and well-kept care home. Lovely grounds and facilities. Staff are excellent with high levels of care and attention. Décor is modern, bright and clean. When visiting care home in the evenings, doesn't appear to be enough staff on about 7 PM as when outside call button was used, there was a 20-minute delay in any staff at the main door, although busy, which is understandable.
Residents needing help (buzzing) and shouting, no staff around. Then as a
visitor, found a member of staff on a mobile phone sitting in corridor, while residents needing assistance, are they interested in their job!
Leaves a lot to be desired!

Absolutely disgusted with this place. Every time I visit my relative here the alarm bells from patients are just ringing and ringing. I visited my sister the other day who needed the toilet. I literally sat there for a whole hour and no one came to tend to her toileting needs, it is not isolated either
it is every time I visit. All you can hear is alarms ringing for hours.
It seems very understaffed and in my opinion, is a disgrace. It should not be functioning if it can not provide the level of care our loved ones require. I am currently in the process of making a complaint with the local council and this place should be closed and shut down until it has the staff to function correctly and provide a suitable level of care, not leaving my sibling sat for an hour in their own faeces.
On speaking to my son about it he knows a girl who works there and after discussing it with her she said that it is understaffed and when they do get the extra staff they quickly leave due to the high workload with short staff.
Reply from Louise Claffey, Marketing Manager at FernleaWe pride ourselves on the resident experience and providing a high quality service and take comments such as this seriously as it does not reflect the usual positive feedback we receive. We are disappointed that you felt the need to air your complaints on a public platform rather than discuss your concerns with our manager as per our complaints procedure, and in your failure to respond to any of our numerous attempts to communicate with you regarding your claims. After thorough investigation, including conversations with your sister and her family, we have concluded that your review contains claims which are wholly and factually inaccurate. For the avoidance of doubt, our investigation found that none of your claims regarding your sister's care could be substantiated. Additionally, we have a robust system for determining staffing ratios and at no point has Fernlea been understaffed.
