Review of Wren House from Jo B (Daughter of Resident) published on 3 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My mother has been resident in Wren House for 18 months. During this time her health has varied from being reasonably independent, (which is actively encouraged by management and staff), to being close to death on one occasion. At all times, she has had superb care by Tracy, Magda and the team. My sister and I have also received marvellous support when Mum has been particularly vulnerable. Every resident is treated as an individual, and Justine's sense of humour has certainly helped Mum. A special mention to Abi who goes above and beyond in providing in house activities and sourcing external ones. Mum particularly enjoys the visits from the children at the local junior school. The food is excellent (Mum isn't the easiest to please!)

All in all, we couldn't be happier with Mum's care at Wren House and feel incredibly lucky that it is on our doorstep.

I have been in for just over 2 years, having had a fall in my home with fractures. I cannot praise this home enough, everything is catered for with immense care and kindness from all staff, beautifully treated.

Overall Experience

My mother moved into Featherton House at the age of 99. We were impressed from the beginning by the friendly atmosphere. Mum had her 100th (and indeed 101 and 102!) birthdays here, and the staff did so much to make her feel special. The food is always freshly cooked, with a choice, and there's plenty of fruit and vegetables. Staff are friendly, patient, dedicated, and good at letting me know about mum's care. They handled mum's end of life care with respect and support - for the family too. I feel that mum was in exactly the right place for her final years.

My dad lived in Featherton House for 6 years. The care provided was excellent and he was very happy during his stay. Featherton provides a home from home experience, the staff and residents are like family with care really tailored to the residents' wishes.

If you are looking for care for your loved one but aren't sure that they will settle in a care home I really recommend visiting Featherton. The atmosphere and environment really suited my dad and I couldn't have wished for better for his final years.

I was very impressed with the care and consideration given both by the staff and management. The ambience and layout was ideal for my mother in law and it felt like a home from home. Both Tracey and Magda gave us great confidence in the way that the team looked after and cared for everyone in the house. The food and fresh cakes were excellent with tea and cakes being offered every time we visited. The activities offered by the team were encouraging and helped to make everyone included. Contact from the staff ensured we were kept up to date on care and any medical concerns.

My mother was a resident at Wren House for a short time. The care she received from Tracey, Magda and the whole team at Wren House was fantastic - they treated my mother with kindness, gentleness and dignity. Granny has been at Wren House for nearly 10 years. The care she has received over the years, including end-of-life care, has been amazing. The atmosphere is lovely and guests always receive a warm welcome. The staff, many of whom have been there for over 10 years, are caring and compassionate, outstanding in every way.

June's story on 15.11.2016 - 10 years ago, mum and dad moved into Wren House. Sadly dad passed away after a short stay, and mum, loving Wren House, decided to make this her home. Wren House is a big family. The staff, many of whom have been there longer than mum, are caring and affectionate, becoming our extended family. They are supporting and encouraging mum to remain independent for as long as she was able, offering physical and emotional support. Mum is now receiving outstanding end-of-life care. It is heartwarming to see the gentle, affectionate care mum is receiving as she slips away. It has not only been a wonderful gift to mum, the way her Wren House Family has cared for her, but a gift to her family, knowing she was so happy and well looked after, allowing us to get on with our lives. Wren House is a jewel in the crown.

June has been at Wren House for 10 years. Her quality of life has undoubtedly been enhanced and extended by the outstanding care she has received. She has been treated at all times with compassion and dignity by all the staff, many of whom have been there longer than June. As a family we have always received a warm welcome and made to feel part of the Wren House family. The end of life care June has received at the moment is truly heartwarming, not just the care, but staff sitting holding her hand and talking to her.

I honestly cannot fault any part of the process and care for my mum when she needed urgent respite care. Their kindness, care and compassion made her stay a pleasure, as my mum said 'it's delightful here' and she is happy to return should she need it. Thank you to the amazing management team and all the wonderful carers.

I visited my stepmother on 17 August 2025. I was with her most of the day and joined her for lunch, as I have a dietary need. The lunch was delicious. I would like to thank the chef for accommodating my diet. All the staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble

A very enjoyable Sunday spent chatting and laughing with Brenda

There is a variety of activities here but my mother is 100 years old is unable physically to go down to them so some are done in her room. We have had children come from a school to read to her in her room.
