Stoneswood have been superb!
We recently viewed the Stoneswood Residential Home in Delph, Oldham and have since chosen this home for my dad who suffers from Dementia. Sandra, the manager has been at the end of a phone from our first meeting and helped us accommodate a very challenging time for our dad and family. Her team, Emma, Ben, Karl, Ashley, Kelly, Yetunde, Bianca and Kayleigh have all made my dads welcome so personal and reassuring. Short notice visits and viewings, home visits for assessments and promises made have all been kept. My dad has now been settling in for nearly 3 weeks and we feel at ease that he is relaxed, less stressed than trying to live at home with alternative care and is much happier and safe. My dads mental health nurse has also visited him a few times and she is pleased with his progress and his improvement since he arrived. When we visit he is proud to show us around.

Our whole family and his neighbours are at ease knowing dad is in such a lovely place.

All the staff made us welcome when we arrived with my mum
They made her feel special immediately, every staff member acknowledged her and asked her name even though at that point they where not directly at that moment in time caring for her

A great experience from the beginning and made myself wife and myself welcome

My mother Margaret was taken ill last Thursday with an infection she is 91 and has Alzheimer's.
The staff on duty that day were exceptional and I need to give the most praise to Bianca who is a senior carer, she went above and beyond to care for my mum and even stayed on duty later to ensure she happy with my mums condition.
Thank you everyone but big thanks to Bianca.

Sandra runs an amazing home here. My Partners Great Grandfather moved in a month ago, and has dementia.
There has been some confusion with the council about funding, but Sandra and the team have been amazing in finding ways to help us, and make sure my partners gramps is well looked after.
We've visited a few times in the past month, the house is gorgeous, the team are friendly and the activities look great! My partner was even able to put on a flute performance for everyone, allowing his gramps to hear him play live again.

A safe place for your family member.

After finding ourselves in quite a desperate situation and needing respite care for my mother in law, I rang Stoneswood. The deputy manager was so empathetic/sympathetic and informative of what the home could offer. Within a week of calling we chose Stoneswood and my mother in law is now in on a permanent basis as the care is excellent. She is thriving in there with the care of the staff with lots of activities to keep her stimulated and inclusive. Would highly recommend for any loved one.

My mum received excellent care whilst in respite and really enjoyed the basic care, meals, quality of her accommodation, the fantastic location and the regular activities arranged for the residents.

Stoneswood was kept really clean, was very secure and the facilities were excellent.

Many thanks to all and best of wishes.

From first walking into Stoneswood to make enquiries I was made to feel so welcome, I know after the visit this is the best place I wanted my uncle to come and I've not been disappointed.
The level of care has been outstanding.

All the staff are absolutely amazing. It just feels like one big happy family. I really enjoy my visits and my uncle loves it and has settled really well.

The staff are very helpful. My partner needs lots of help, he has deteriorating motor skills and they accommodate his needs very well. He suffers from Lewy bodies dementia and gets very confused but the staff are kind, helpful and pleasant. They understand his needs and look after him very well. I completed an Social Services review with him recently and his responses showed he is happy with the standard of care. He is well fed and enjoys the food. It has taken a long time (he is not really a mixer) but he seems to have made a friend.

Generally care is good and residents are encouraged to join in social activities, but, my mother-in-law rarely takes part in these organised activities even when we are present. She subsequently does not have anything to fill her time as she is reliant on one to one communication, mainly from family. I would like more advice from staff. I feel she may need a keyworker, but am not sure whether she merits one as she is presently quiet mobile and independent.

Reply from Alana Brereton, Hospitality Manager at Stoneswood

Thank you for your feedback, we will be in touch directly regarding the keyworker scheme, which we are currently trialling at other homes within the group. We agree it would be beneficial for all residents and is something we're open to rolling out as soon as possible.

It's a very welcoming home from when you arrive at reception. The home and gardens are well looked after, clean and welcoming. My aunt is well cared for in every respect. She is treated with respect, and dignity at all times by all the staff, they are kind and caring at all times. She is allowed to wander around the home all day if she wishes never being told or pressured to sit down. She is now eating much better than she was at home and is happy in her own world.

The food is good with plenty of choice for the residents and they are given this choice which is very important. There are snacks available at all times in the dining room for the residents to access all day. As she wanders so much I was happy to see a pressure mat at the side of her bed that will alert staff if she gets out of bed or falls in the night. The staff have always been polite and respectful whilst caring for the residents and use the appropriate equipment when necessary.

We looked at several care homes before moving my mum in, Stoneswood was by far the best. Since she moved in, the care my mum has had has been amazing. The staff are lovely, and they not only look after the residents but also give great support to the residents' families. There is a welcoming atmosphere and my mum has told me many times that she likes it. The setting is beautiful and there are organised activities. My mum really loves getting her hair done every week in the salon and she loves being able to have a bubble bath.

It’s never an easy thing to move a parent into a care home, but the staff have guided us through the transition and made things as smooth as possible. I would recommend Stoneswood, and I’m grateful to all the staff.

Mum has been resident at Stoneswood since May 2022. Although she and I were anxious about her move to Stoneswood, the staff really helped to make the move smooth. Mum has never had many hobbies, walking being her main one, but she is encouraged to join in with the many activities that have been taking place over the last few months. Mum particularly enjoys the outings both locally and farther afield. The staff are very welcoming and caring with all residents. They have looked after Mum and encouraged her to maintain some independence. Stoneswood is in beautiful grounds that are well maintained and easily accessible for Mum to walk with relatives. The use of the lodge as a coffee stop whilst out walking is perfect. I really enjoy my visits with Mum as she is happy and content. I feel we have quality time together without any worry.

Mum is very settled and happy here. She enjoys the food, and her room is always clean and tidy. Sometimes, I feel she is left in front of the telly in the lounges on her own more than I would like, but I/she would never complain.

Sometimes, it feels like they are short of senior carers, and there seems to be a lot of staff turnover, so it’s difficult to get to know who does what. But most of the regular careers are lovely and very friendly. I am really hoping the new manager stays and is a success.

My mum has been a resident of Stoneswood since July 2021. It was a major decision on my behalf to accept that Mum was going to need full time care due to her increasing dementia. When Autograph took over the running of the home, I was unsure of how things might change in the light of how my mum’s needs would be managed. However, it has been lovely to see how my mum has been encouraged to take part in the many activities which the Stoneswood staff have planned. This month I accompanied Mum on an evening coach trip to Blackpool. Everything ran so well due to the time and effort put in by the staff. I never thought I’d see Mum sitting in a café eating fish and chips before being driven through the illuminations! I am fortunate that I have total trust in the staff and how they care for Mum. Nothing is too much trouble for them when I call in to see her or when I ring daily to ask how she has been presenting. I am happy and confident that Stoneswood are able to continue caring for Mum.

My mum settled in here very quickly, and is far happier than she was at home. The staff are very friendly and caring, with plenty of activities to keep my mum occupied. The home is always clean and tidy with a really happy atmosphere. It was easy to get her room set up to be familiar to her, making the move in easy and low stress. We are even allowed to bring her favourite four legged friends to visit! I would recommend Stoneswood to anyone needing care for an elderly relative. We wish we’d moved her in earlier.

30th November - Mum very poorly today and we stayed all day. The staff were amazing - especially four staff members in particular - so caring and empathic. We must also mention two other staff members who are equally professional, they are all a credit to the team at Stoneswood. Another staff member manages the kitchen with skill and is attentive to the dietary needs of the residents, talking to residents daily to be able to tailor their needs.
