Staff are caring, respectful, kind, patient and thoughtful towards my mum who suffers dementia Alzheimer's and Vascular dementia. They understand how this affects mum as an individual and always treat her with understanding and dignity. It is lovely calm, friendly clean and welcoming home which has
enabled mum to settle in quickly and socialise more freely.

My Mum chose to become a resident at Ashton Manor In January 2026. She had been diagnosed with mixed dementia in November '25 and wanted to move to residential care before her condition deteriorated. The admission process was excellent and we found all the staff to be extremely supportive at what was
a difficult and unsettling time for her and us. The home is beautifully decorated and well maintained. Mums room is very spacious, light and comfortable. We really appreciated being able to bring in several items of her own furniture to help her feel more at home. Without exception the staff are excellent. Always willing to have a chat and encouraging Mum to pursue her interests. There are activities every afternoon most of which mum has joined in with and enjoyed. It is a shame that there are no evening activities though. Mum is happy and more relaxed than she was living alone. The mental stimulation she gets from staff and other residents is quite evidently improving her general mood
Reply from Joanne Tyson, Registered Manager at Ashton ManorThank you for taking the time to provide us with a review. We are so happy that mum has settled well at Ashton Manor, and you have noticed a improvement in her general mood. We will take forward your feedback about evening activities and review this. We strive to make the transition into residential care as smooth as possible, both for the residents but also the family. It is an emotional time for everyone involved. We look forward to continuing to support mum into the future.

I can honestly say the home is fabulous. It always starts from the top and the home is beautifully run and managed and ALL staff work exceptionally hard to provide a loving, caring, respectful and safe environment for the residents and relatives, often going the extra mile.
The facilities are second
to none including a comprehensive activities programme designed to meet the needs of all residents, a cinema, corner shop, beauty salon and library, not to mention the coffee machine in reception!

The care my loved one receives allows me to have quality time and create new memories when I visit and when I leave the home I do so knowing that she will be well cared for, loved, emotionally supported and safe.

As a recently retired nurse visiting every day I write this review with full confidence and I can therefore highly recommend Astley View as an outstanding care home.

Reply from Christina Durnan, Home Manager at Astley ViewThank you so much for your kind review of our home and team. The overall care at Ashton Manor is good although there has been a lack of continuity with care staff.
There also appears to be a delay with some maintenance on the top floor which detracts from the overall appearance of the home.
The food is not of the standard I would expect and needs to improve
and be more suited to the needs of the residents.
Reply from Joanne Tyson, Registered Manager at Ashton ManorThank you for taking the time to provide a review. We always appreciate honest feedback about our services. To maintain the safety of staffing levels across the home, we do ensure all staff work on all floors, to make sure they are aware of all resident's needs, and there preferred ways for care. This ensures that in times of high sickness, or other absences, there is always someone who will know the needs of your loved one. We are about to undergo a series of routine refurbishments, which include the Treetops community of the home, so we look forward to receiving your feedback once this is finished. In respect of the food we offer, the Head Chef spends a large amount of time, engaging with residents to identify their preferred meals, offering alternatives to meet individuals needs, sourcing alternative options for individuals. I will follow up with them, and pass your feedback on.

From 1st contact/enquiry for respite care through to discharge home, the support and care provided have been excellent. Every single member of staff, including reception and housekeeping, have been helpful, respectful and kind. The care staff have gone above and beyond in their care of my dad. I would
not hesitate to recommend Astley View, and will definitely use them again for further respite stays/long term stays when required.
Reply from Christina Durnan, Home Manager at Astley ViewThank you so much for your lovely review of our beautiful home. Definitely five star. Mum went in for respite over 3 weeks. I couldn't have asked for better care. The staff were very supportive and helpful. Mum had 24 hour care and was looked after so well in Astley view. The time she spent there gave family the respite we needed. I couldn't recommend them
enough. From the first meeting to assess her needs where Kristian came to her home and did a thorough job finding out about mum. She really took to him and opened up. When she was in Astley view everyone had time for her from Sharon who's team cared for her to Joy on reception who was a breath of fresh air. Wonderful place, bedrooms very modern and clean with en-suite that had all the amenities you would expect for someone with limited mobility. Lots of things to do if mum wanted to join in, although she wasn't always up to it.
Reply from Christina Durnan, Home Manager at Astley ViewThank you for your kind review. We are delighted that you have been happy with Mum's stay at Astley View - she really was a pleasure to care for and the team really appreciated being able to get to know her and support her during her respite stay. We look forward to seeing her again in the future for any short or long term stays when needed.

My 96 year old mum stayed for two weeks to enable us to go on holiday. She loved her room and the care given by all. She really enjoyed the activities such as the harpist musical afternoon, cinema afternoon, and games afternoon as well as socialising in the lounge areas. She really appreciated the weekly
hairdresser visit, too.
She said it seemed like being in a luxury setting, with excellent food and attention to detail.
By the end of her two weeks weeks she felt comfortable and relaxed with both staff and new friends. She is looking forward to a longer stay in May and feels this will become her forever home in the not too distant future. .

From the day I went to explore Astley View Care home for my mum (which I did without booking) Catherine on reception was really lovely - she made me feel completely at ease showed my round the facility and showed me a few rooms that were available. Her kind and friendly approach made me feel the care
home would be perfect for mum for short term respite care. When mum arrived the staff were friendly and supportive and due to complexities of mum's medication and follow up appointments they were really helpful in chasing things up or taking mum to appointments when I couldn't. Mum felt so at home there, she loved joining in the various activities/trips out - thank you to all the staff that helped her. An amazing lovely clean and friendly care home.

After visiting several other local care homes there was a clear winner for us. From the moment we walked through the doors, it just felt right. The staff are so friendly, from the carers to the laundry staff and chef.

Mum feels so well looked after and supported which gives us such peace of mind.

The facilities are great and there is a good range of activities, something for everyone.

Visiting mum is a pleasure, the time we spend together is quality time.

Our experience as a family was very good. Friendly and caring staff, good facilities & food. The most impressive thing was the care as the staff don't leave anything to chance and will air on the side of caution if they felt someone was not their usual self. Physical support was also very good.
Bedrooms were modern, and clean and the bathrooms were very well equipped for anyone with physical challenges. Unfortunately our dad was not very engaging during his 3 week stay but this was no reflection on the environment, staff or care.

My mother in law moved into Astley view at the end of February 2025 and she is very happy there. As a family we do not worry about her care as we know she couldn't get any better.
Every member of staff we have come into contact with are friendly and helpful. They go above & beyond to ensure the residents
are looked after with respect and dignity.
The rooms are clean, spacious and beautifully decorated and the home is kept spotlessly clean. The food is so good my mother in law has gained weight and looks much better for it.
They have a fantastic activities team who keep the residents engaged and active. I always say they have a better social life than we do!
The home holds both resident and relative meetings where you can raise concerns, ask questions and make suggestions for improvements. We have attended these and seen all plans put into action which is great as you feel listened to.
If you're considering Astley View for your loved one, just do it you won't regret it.

If you are wondering if Astley View is the right care home for your relative then I can honestly say whole heartedly it is.
My Mum has been a resident for approximately 18 months, and myself a regular visitor.
She has been so well looked after, whether it is visits from district nurses, doctors visits,
help with her personal hygiene, medication given on time or her 3 meals a day plus cake and biscuits served every day.
The menu is varied and quite often when I visit I wish I was having what she's having. In particular the homemade soups which are delicious.
The staff are very friendly and also very good at their jobs. Nothing is too much trouble and the care and attention they give is very much appreciated. Regular teams work together on the same unit which gives continuity.
Lots of activities are organised and are very well attended. Activities range from a knit and natter session to a movie in the cinema or an interesting talk, plus music.
Would highly recommend Astley View

After moving my Aunt into Ashton Manor I sent this email to the manager.

I'd just like to say thanks to all your staff, who have been so helpful and caring during this couple of days. I've spoken to several members of staff, seniors and carers and without fail they have been kind, helpful and caring.

This experience has reinforced my initial impression from observing staff when I have been there and seeing them interacting with residents. I made the right choice of care home.
