Although my dad is currently receiving respite care at Waterloo House, the warm welcome and care has been first class. All of the staff, without exception, have been very helpful, kind and supportive. Nothing is any trouble and they have done everything possible to help my dad settle into his temporary
, hopefully permanent home. I am very grateful for all of their hard work as it really does give me comfort and peace of mind knowing that my dad's needs are all taken care of. Thank you.
Reply from Paul Smith, Director and NI at Waterloo HouseT N, we are delighted that your initial experiences of our care home are proving so positive for your dad. We look forward to any decisions in regards his long term future where we would continue to provide the warm, tender but fun care this home is renowned for - Paul

July 25 Mam moved to Harwood Court due to declining health, from day one staff were attentive and friendly. They interacted well with family and always treated mam with dignity and respect encouraging her to keep her independence, but they were on hand when she needed them. Mam chose not to take part
in the activities but staff never gave up trying to encourage her to interact. The many fairs and coffee afternoons were superbly organised and usually finished off with a good singalong!
The building and gardens were clean and well maintained, the laundry was immaculate and prepared quickly for the residents. There was a great choice of freshly cooked food and staff would willingly accommodate the resident's needs where possible.
Overall, there was a great team spirit making for a welcoming atmosphere, we felt reassured that our mam was safe and well looked after 24/7.
The Chaplin visited mam in hospital a number of times before she passed away and this was a great comfort to her.
Reply from Paul Smith, Director and NI at Harwood CourtThank you, Linda. I will ensure that our manager and his team are made aware of your generous review. I am so pleased that her final home was everything you and she wanted and that our in house Chaplin was a comfort when needed, Paul

The care my husband received here during the 7 months before he died in early December was exceptional. The carers The carers worted tirelessly to keep him: to keep him safe, comfortable and treated with dignity and respect - even when he wasn't always easy to care for. They also gave our family peace
of mind. We were always made to feel welcome, listened to and supported. This is a wonderful care homeand that is entirely because of the wonderful staff. Thank you for everything you did for him and for us.

My relative was in Harwood Court for just over 2 years. In this time, her care was exemplary. She was always treated with dignity and respect. Staff could always be found if needed, and their interactions with family were as good. The homes care of my mother in her dying days was amazing. They could
not do enough for me or her. Their management of the moment of death and the aftermath can never be represented in words: it was perfect.
Reply from Paul Smith, Director and NI at Harwood CourtThank you, Richard. I am most pleased to read that the family were contended and comforted by the actions of our team spanning the period of the two years but most poignantly at the time of the last of our acts. I will ensure the whole team learns of your review. Paul

Mum was a resident for a year, and we found Harwood to be welcoming and serene. Staff retention is good and provides consistency of care, which is compassionate and dignified, especially during end of life. The food is freshly prepared on site and always appetising. The activities of late have been
excellent, but were lacking before the current activity manager. The safety and security of residents is good, but consequently can be difficult to get in. The residents and family meetings were beneficial and acted upon.

The care received by mother has never fallen short of outstanding. I absolutely cannot fault Harwood Court in any respect and my mother is very happy to live there. All staff are welcoming and friendly and all residents that I have seen are so happy as Mum is. I believe the fees are in line with other
care homes in the area.
Reply from Paul Smith, Director and NI at Harwood CourtWe are delighted by your review. I will make it my business when visiting the service to ensure all employees and the management learn of your satisfaction. The manager and his team work very hard to deliver a service that meets not just the regulations but that further stands up to the 'Mum' test. It is gratifying to learn that in your eyes, we are meeting the 'mum' test fully.

My dad moved into Waterloo Care Home in January 2025. The staff treat my dad as part of their family, the kindness and respect he is shown is just so lovely. The food is fab and as my dad's weight had been worrying he's putting weight on weekly. His mental health is improving and he is settling into
his new home so well. I am so pleased my dad is a resident there, I feel like his daughter again not his carer. Outstanding care and I would highly recommend this home.

I first came upon Harwood Court when my mother became a resident in June 2023. Prior to that, her health was failing and a number of consecutive falls meant regular visits to A&E. I had never experienced life in a care home before my mother's inception and although it was difficult at first, visiting
and then leaving her, not knowing how she was coping with the new surroundings, it soon became apparent she was settling in really well. The carers are very friendly and attentive and always have a smile on their faces. Nothing is too much for them. Her room is always clean and tidy, bright and cheerful. The management have always made themselves available and have been very helpful when required. In short, my mother is very settled and happy with her surroundings and the care she is receiving. I too am extremely happy and have confidence in the way she's being cared for at this time of her life. Thank you to each and every member of staff.

My mother-in-law became a resident of Harwood Court over a year ago. At that point, her health was failing and she had suffered from ongoing falls that had generally led to almost routine visits. Although being naturally anxious at first, she quickly became comfortable and confident within her care
setting and the improvement to her health and overall demeanour was a joy to see. Without exception, each and every member of staff have proved to be very helpful and friendly. We cannot fault the Management who have always made themselves available and gone that extra mile to ensure that all needs are met. Her room is always clean and tidy, and she is afforded the privacy and dignity of having her own private toilet and wash basin. The staff continue to support my Mother-in-law in every possible way. From the everyday needs of dressing, bathing, and mobility to a weekly visit to the hairdressers and nail bar, a highlight in her diary. Thank you everyone.

When Dad needed respite care about 4 years ago we visited other more modern care homes but chose Harwood Court over the others as we got an immediate positive feeling about the staff who took time to introduce themselves and ask questions of Dad.
After a week of respite, he asked to stay permanently.
He
passed away on 30th June 2023 in the home.
The staff here are superb and made Dad feel like a member of a bigger family. His care was brilliant and he really loved everyone at Harwood Court.
I would certainly recommend this care home and believe that Dad's life was extended as a result of living here.
Reply from George Ward, Home Manager at Harwood CourtThank you for your review; I will share it with the team. Your dad was such a huge part of our home and helped shape so many parts of what we do here at Harwood Court; setting our tables daily ready for our lunch service. It was a privilege to take care of your dad and the whole team felt so much grief when he left his home for the last time, he will never be forgotten.

I brought my friend up from Ipswich nearly 2 years ago to be nearer me when his health dictated that it was not safe for him to stay at home anymore. It was the best decision for my friend and myself because it gave me the peace of mind that he would get the 24-hour care that he needed which he received
at Thomas Knight. I was very impressed with the calming atmosphere in the building. Every time I visited, sometimes unannounced, everything was always the same, with friendly and approachable staff. His room was always clean and he was cared for with professionalism and empathy. The staff knew my friend's needs inside and out and they were genuinely saddened by his passing, so much so, that many came to his funeral to say farewell. Finally, I take my hat off to the staff who cared for my friend. Their patience and expertise is amazing and I commend their fantastic commitment and dedication to the residents.

I am a friend of a resident at Harwood Court.
On the occasions, I visit the home I have been impressed with all I have encountered. Through my involvement and connection with the local methodist church, I have a long standing connection - the main advantage I feel is the size of the home which appeals
to most.
