Mum has been at Drumconner since April 2025 she has received such kindness and excellent care. All the staff are always cheerful and helpful. The food is good, nutritious and healthy. Any queries or questions are answered promptly. The residents have a good variety of activities to attend which are
delivered with enthusiasm and encouragement.
Mum is content, comfortable and happy there which is very reassuring for our family.
I feel strongly that the recent damming CQC report does not reflect the high quality of care I have witnessed.
Reply from Oliver, Senior Manager at Drumconner Homes LancingThank you so much for your lovely message, Elaine. It is wonderful to hear how happy and settled your mum has been at Drumconner since April 2025. Your kind words about the staff, the food and the activities really mean a lot. Most importantly, knowing your mum feels content and comfortable is so reassuring.

I will first say what fantastic care my aunt received when living at Drumconner. Each time I visited my aunt the staff were all very friendly and helpful. My aunt enjoyed engaging in cheerful banter and seemed to have a good rapport with everyone.
Sadly, in December my aunt became unwell and was admitted
to hospital where she passed away later the same day. However, my mother was unaware of this and only found out six days later. My mother was very distressed and disappointed not to have been informed.
I subsequently rang Drumconner to ask why my mother had not been informed on the day my aunt was taken to hospital. My mother had ensured that the home had her correct contact details as she was the only close relative living locally. If my mother had been informed she would have gone to the hospital to sit with her sister.
I requested that the home manager contact my mother (or myself) so she could explain the circumstances and answer my mother's questions, but this has not happened.
Reply from Oliver, Senior Manager at Drumconner Homes LancingThank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for your kind words about the care your aunt received at Drumconner. We are pleased to hear that she felt comfortable, supported and able to build positive relationships with our team.
We are very sorry to hear of your aunt's passing and extend our sincere condolences to you and your family. We understand how upsetting this must have been.
When a resident is admitted to hospital, we are legally required to notify the registered next of kin on record. In your aunt's case, her son and daughter were listed and were informed at the appropriate time. Due to confidentiality and data protection regulations, we are unable to share medical or hospital information with anyone not recorded as next of kin. We recognise that this was distressing and we are sorry for the upset caused. We would be happy to speak with you or your mother to answer any remaining questions or provide further clarification.

One of the most remarkable things I've noticed about Drumconner, is the real care factor from the staff and the extra mile the team go. After a serious fall, my nan went from independent living with support from family. To needing full-time care, after a stint in the hospital, she was very frail upon
arrival to Drumconner. One of the most amazing things is that she's gone from being fully bed-bound to being able to get outside and even participate in a few activities. Considering how vigilant and independent my nan is, and struggles to ask for help. It's been lovely seeing her regain some of her mobility near the end of her life, and work with the team there. For the family, it's been wonderful to use the time we were committing to care, and instead, spending quality time making some last few memories.
Our family have been in constant communication with all the team there, as well as being supported as well. It's a beautiful nursing home with clean and excellent facilities/food/activities.
Reply from Oliver, Senior Manager at Drumconner Homes LancingThank you so much for your review. We're truly touched to hear about the positive impact our team has had on your grandmother's life and are grateful for the opportunity to support both her and your family. It's wonderful to know that she is regaining mobility and enjoying her time with us.

I was initially very worried about how my mother-in-law would settle into Drumconner. The staff have been brilliant in helping her to settle in look after her and involve her in the daily activities of the home. This is appreciated by the family.

I have found all the staff to be really kind and helpful. They made my mother's first few weeks comfortable and helped her to settle into a new environment, especially after being so independent. They have taken great care with her health issues ensuring she received prompt attention from medical staff.
I cannot fault the kindness that has been shown to her.

My Mum went into Drumconner from hospital after breaking her hip, and could not return home. This was my Mum's 'Be all and end all', if she had to go into a care home then it had to be Drumconner. From the first steps into the reception, we were greeted in a warm friendly professional way. Extremely
friendly and helpful. On my return with my Brother, we experienced the same welcome. Every member of staff whether it was reception, nursing, or maintenance always greeted you and helped you, even if it wasn't their job area. The new rooms were amazing and Mum was in one overlooking the front and the sea. The rooms are 5*. The amenities they offer are second to none.
We cannot 'wax lyrical' enough on how pleased we were to get our Mum into Drumconner. Thank you to all The Team/Management for their kindness, cheerfulness, and professionalism. We would certainly recommend Drumconner to anyone who is seeking care.

This was Mum's third respite visit. What an amazing investment in the rooms and building. So lovely. The food was, as always, excellent and the staff fantastic. Nice to see the owners on site and a great manager! Great value for money, considering 24/7 care and physio and activities, allowing her to
be more active than usual. Mum is worth it! Anyway, she won’t go anywhere else now!
Reply from Stacy Burkett, Head of Welfare at Drumconner Homes LancingThank you for this wonderful feedback, we are delighted that you all had a fantastic experience. We look forward to welcoming you again soon.

Whilst care is generally good, the staff seem happy (mostly), it is the little things, such as attention to detail that are truly lacking eg when it was Mum's 95th birthday she did not even get acknowledged by the home with a card (Since filling in the form, one was provided later, after the actual
day). Also, emails are very rarely answered. Several times we found Mum staring at a blank television screen (batteries needed replacing in the remote control! We provided new batteries). Value for money? No! Another issue is that if we buy her plants/flowers, the plants never get watered and the flowers never get the water in the vase topped up, so both generally die very quickly because of the heat in the room, therefore mum does not get to enjoy them for long.
Reply from Stacy Burkett, Head of Welfare at Drumconner Homes LancingGood morning, Thank you for coming in to meet with us on Friday to resolve the issues raised. Whilst Mum did have a birthday cake and card on her birthday we did not relay this to you and that was an oversight on our behalf. As I explained on Friday with the new IT platform coming into effect around May 2023 this will no longer be an issue as the new system has the family portal where you will be able to access all Mum's day-to-day activities and her care plan. The problem with the remote was again an oversight but as Mum never wishes to have the TV on when asked, we can probably be forgiven for it being mislaid. We agreed that the issue with the plants is industry-wide as we need to keep the home warm for our frail residents. This is not healthy for the poor old flowers. We were delighted to hear that you and your family are pleased with the care we deliver as Mum came to us very frail and vulnerable but now some two and half years later is still doing well. Many thanks. Management

My gran was staying at Drumconner Homes for a while after she had a fall at home. We chose this home as they have a great nursing team and they provide complementary physiotherapy. All the staff were so lovely at Drumconner and we are so happy the physio has enabled my gran to get back on her feet and
return home. The food was of a very high quality and they would always consider grans likes and dislikes. The rooms are also very large and have modern bathrooms and the latest equipment, I would highly recommend Drumconner to any family looking for a lovely nursing home in West Sussex.

Our mother entered Drumconner in Lancing on April 1st from the hospital. She passed away under your care, from cancer, on May 3rd 2022.
Mum had a beautiful big room, very homely. She settled quickly and was so well cared for. We had a blip with food which was quickly resolved. Wonderful to have
an on-site hairdresser who Mum visited, lovely reception rooms, comfy chairs, felt like a nice house, not a home.
Mum was as happy and comfortable as she could be under the circumstances. All staff were so kind, patient and caring. They were so wonderful and kind to us when we visited.
Mum's general care was excellent. Her specific medical care, also excellent. She was handled with kindness, respect and dignity at all times. She passed away peacefully and we feel she is at peace now. We thank everyone who cared for her and the kind reception staff too. Thank you.

All of the staff at Drumconner nursing home in Lancing were wonderful. They could not have been more caring or kind in the way they looked after my mother during her year-long stay with them. Because of covid, they were working under the most difficult and almost impossible of circumstances. But that
never stopped them from giving first-class care in every respect to my mother during the time she was with them. All of the staff were always so kind and considerate both to my mother and to my husband and myself. Considering the pressures they were all under they always responded to our questions and did their very best to make my mother as comfortable as she possibly could be in the circumstances. We feel so lucky that we chose Drumconner when the unexpected need for my mother to have nursing care and support arose. We would have no reservations in recommending Drumconner to others who may be searching for a nursing home for their loved one.
Reply from Charlie, Admin at Drumconner Homes LancingThank you so much for the lovely review, it was a pleasure looking after your mother and getting to know you in these unusual circumstances. We will let all the staff know your appreciation, all the best - Drumconner

I am a temporary resident (due to a fall). I have been at Drumconner for eight weeks so far. All the staff - night or day staff, housekeeping, laundry, kitchen, activities organiser, reception, gardening staff, maintenance and anyone I may have left out - everyone has treated me with kind, respect,
dignity - we always manage a laugh.
Reply from Charlie Creasey, Admin at Drumconner Homes LancingThank you, we all love having you here - best regards from all the team.

Really happy with how they're looking after my grandmother, especially as she needs extra care which the staff are able to provide. Speaking of staff, they're lovely and very knowledgeable which is enormously reassuring. Gran loves it there, she's always singing its praises (she jokes that if she had
known the food was going to be that good she'd have moved in long ago!). They have a lot of activities too, which is so important, and as for facilities, all very modern and the place is spotless. With everything going on right now, it's such a relief that Gran is getting the best care that she can. Thank you!
