Woffington House Care Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My aunt who suffers from mixed dementia, has been living at Woffington since October 2023. She is very happy there. She enjoys the food and the company there. The staff are excellent and very caring. The staff treats each resident as an individual. The rooms are kept very clean and the laundry service
is impressive. The manager phones me with any health updates which is reassuring.
Reply from Kole Grewal, Director at Woffington House Care HomeThank you so much for your lovely review and kind words. We are delighted to hear that your aunt is happy and settled at Woffington House. It is wonderful to know that she enjoys the food, company, and the care provided by our team. Our staff work very hard to treat every resident as an individual and to ensure they feel safe, comfortable and well cared for. Your comments about the cleanliness, laundry service and communication from the manager are greatly appreciated. We will be sure to share your feedback with the whole team, who will be very pleased to read it. Thank you again for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review.

Basically it's my mother's personal care I feel needs addressing, sat for maybe a period of time when she has had an accident and washing and making sure her nails are clean and not dirty.
My mother wears glasses and when I visit her there is times when's she hasn't had them on and when asking where
they are they are either in the office or in her bedroom, she can't see see and they are her eyes, ensure they are clean.
Communication with family could be better.

Please please please don’t send a person you care about here. This is honestly the worst place for them. They would have their needs met better in prison. They have absolutely no care for the people they are supposed to care for. All they want is their money. An absolute gentleman of a man who was my
grandfather went there. On arrival he was a man needing extra care, in a few months of being there he has now passed away. They don’t write reports or check on individuals. All they say is do they want a hair cut or nails cut that’s an extra £50. Something needs to be done about this place. Do not send anyone you care about here please!
Reply from Ian Hutchinson, Director at Woffington House Care HomeIt is not uncommon for absent family members to experience overwhelming feelings of guilt and grief at the deterioration and passing of a loved one and this is often manifested through anger and blame. We are sorry that you feel this way and that we did not merit more than a single star in any section of your review. If we are able to support you in any way through this difficult time then please do not hesitate to contact us.

Woffington House Care Home

Apart from other concerns I have had with the home (unable to take further than the manager, the information on this web site being outdated by over a year), today I visited my mother, the visit lasted only 10 minutes as I had to sit in the pouring rain to talk to her regardless of whatever excuse they
try and make. I am disabled myself, previous visits have at least used a canopy while visiting, this was for whatever reason unavailable, I was not told this. It is at the side of the home and not visible to me without walking to it. I could visit her anytime, they know I am disabled, have little respect when I am spoken to. As for her care, they do keep her alive but for example, I took her false teeth back to her after repairing them, it took maybe a couple of days before they gave them to her.
We had to provide a better mattress for her, chair and commode.
Reply from Ian Hutchinson, Director at Woffington House Care HomeI’m sorry that you feel that you’ve been mistreated. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, you were aware that visiting was restricted to outside visits only and that pre-booking an appointment was requested in order to manage the safety of the residents and not overstretch the staff. It has to be said that you have repeatedly ignored these restrictions. On this day - you had not booked in, you blocked an active ambulance with your car as you attempted to park in the bay reserved for emergency services and nearly ran over a staff member in the car park. Despite this, the staff were accommodating and facilitated your visit for the benefit of your mother. The canopy had been lost in the high winds of previous days.
Your mother’s teeth were returned to her immediately after they were repaired but her notes state that they still hurt and she refused to wear them. As for the kit - specialist bariatric kit is not provided for in the basic contract and the kit remains your property.
