Thank you Sandy Banks!

My wife spent four and a half years in Sandy Banks Care Home and during this time was treated with respect and dignity. The staff were always sympathetic to the individual needs of the residents and also to the residents family members. My wife always looks clean and tidy and responded well to the carers which helped her to have a comfortable time during her long stay in the care home due to her condition of Alzheimer's disease.

The manageress at Ash Grove is the most caring and lovable person I have ever met. She has opened her arms to me during my heartbreaking time. The staff are the same; all have cared for my son as if he were their own.

As a family, we all feel that the service and care are extremely high. My mother is in the best place and we are all very happy that she is being looked after so well. The home is happy, warm and clean and mum has a lovely room where she feels safe. The staff really do care; they make connections with the residents and recognise their individual needs.

From the moment my father arrived at Sandy Banks to the moment he passed away, the care he received was outstanding. Whenever I visited I could see how settled and content he was despite the ravages of dementia and that is testament to the skill and caring nature of the whole staff team. Communication with the family was great , especially at the end of life stage. Thank you to the whole team.

My dad has settled really well and his care needs appear to be being met. All the staff are very friendly and obviously care about the residents. They all work very hard. I've given the care home 4 stars because it's a bit tired. The newly decorated lounge is lovely but the other areas need upgrading.

Since Mum moved into Sandy Banks Care Home, we've seen such a wonderful improvement. She is so much better in herself-happier, brighter, and even eating solids again. The care here is excellent, and it's clear the staff go above and beyond to make sure residents feel safe, comfortable, and loved.

The activities are also fantastic. Just last week Mum was up singing and dancing at a birthday party, and they even brought Shetland ponies in for everyone to enjoy! It's heart-warming to see her so engaged and having fun again.

We couldn't be more grateful for the kindness, support, and dedication shown by all the team.

As the wife of a resident at Ash Grove, I cannot single out one month to review. There is activities going on. Also if there is a problem with your relative you are informed by telephone. The staff are caring and considerate.

My mum became a resident at Sandy Banks in 2024 , moving from Meadowbank. From the very first day our family felt confident my mum would receive the care she needed from staff and management who really do have the residents best interest at heart. We've been 100% confident she is given the best care in an environment that is safe, friendly and supportive. My mums room is always spotlessly clean and comfortable, her dietary requirements have been very well catered for, her medical needs have been met with excellent care and consideration for her best interest, all staff and management are approachable and friendly, the entertainment program is excellent with soo much effort put into ensuring the residents have enjoyable activities and regular entertainment. All the staff provide caring , understanding dementia care to a very high standard. Most importantly my mum is happy and appears much more settled than in her previous placement , which has been soo good to see

Staff were very accommodating and went over and above for my aunt's 100 birthday last year. She had a wonderful time.

Although the home is an old building there are renovations being done but this has not had any effect on the care that my sister receives

All the staff at Sandy Banks Care Home have been wonderful, their devotion and care has been outstanding. They were always so kind and caring and nothing was too much trouble when anything was asked of them. It was a home from home for our mum and we always felt welcomed on our visits as a family to see her. The staff gave exemplary care at a time when mum needed it most, I can not praise or thank them enough.

I can't praise them highly enough. Their compassion to care for everyone is truly commendable.

Staff kind and responsive, work very hard. Bedroom clean and tidy. Always dressed in own clothes, it helps because his name is embroidered on his chest. The home smells clean. A cheerful place.

The home is beautifully decorated and extremely clean.

Mum became a resident in Sandy Banks in October 2019 due to her dementia deterioration during the COVID lockdown restrictions. Although we couldn't visit, she was made to feel very welcome by the Manager, staff and care team and settled in really well. Sandy Banks Care Home is well-led with a dedicated team who provide outstanding professional support and care at all times. Mum was always treated with kindness, patience, dignity and the upmost respect during her time in the home and was always encouraged to join in the various activities each day which were adapted to individual resident needs. During the end-of-life phase, the whole team showed empathy and compassion not only to Mum but to family members with their continued daily updates and support for which we are forever grateful. Would highly recommend Sandy Banks Care Home as they always go the extra mile and consider each resident's requirements/needs before making any decisions.

It's only been a few weeks since Mum moved in, but we now leave after a visit knowing she is cared for, and that's all that matters.

Mum, who suffers from severe dementia, has been resident at Sandy Banks for 9 months. Her care here has been outstanding and little things that had been a problem at her previous care home have been resolved or just magically disappeared. Mum is happy and since a daytime personal was instituted by the home in coordination with social services has been a lot more engaged with her surroundings. Mum is getting all the care she needs and the family are all extremely happy with the care she is receiving.

My mum has been resident at Sandy Banks for about four months and suffers from severe dementia. She settled in very quickly after spending quite a few weeks in hospital following a stay at another care home in the Lake District. Sandy Banks is more local to us so we are able to visit her much more often than previously. Since arriving at Sandy Banks my mother has improved her sleep patterns, is gaining mobility that she lost in the few months before her move, and is clearly very comfortable in her surroundings. The staff at Sandy Banks provide excellent professional care and are very responsive to all our questions and comments. Sandy Banks has given us much relief from our anxiety about my mum's situation and we are completely happy that she is being looked after very well.
