Appletree Court Care Home

My mother has been at Appletree Court since lockdown in March 2020. We have found the staff and care of Mum excellent. It was reassuring to know Mum was being so well looked after during a difficult time when we were unable to visit due to Covid restrictions. Staff are very pleasant and helpful.

This pandemic has been a lifetime for residents and families; due to lack of visiting. The staff have risen to the stressful challenge and continued to support my Mum; showing her love and kindness and respect, when at this time of life needs and deserves with an abundance. Activity staff are her friends who make sure we talk every day via Zoom. They treat her like she was their own Mum. The management keeps us updated and does everything in their power to keep her safe. They are her extended family and show her real compassion. I will be eternally grateful. They deserve credit where credit's due. I would be first to shout if things were wrong but thank God she is looked after by such people with open hearts. I have written to our Queen and Prime Minister to sing their praises. When I win the lottery I will award them all. In the meantime, I ask God to look after them all and keep them safe; with continued strength to show my amazing Mum the empathy she duly deserves. Thank you.

Loved ones may not be happy with the current situation, but it is needed to protect residents and staff

Thank you so much to the manager and wonderful staff of Appletree Court for the care given to my husband during the very difficult Covid-19 lockdown. Whenever I rang I was informed of my husband's condition by a friendly, caring staff member(s).

I would definitely recommend Appletree.

My husband, who had advanced Alzheimer's Disease, was a resident at Appletree Court for almost 6 months before he passed away in February. I cannot praise the home, its staff on all levels and the care provided highly enough. He was previously at another care home for 8 months so I have a good basis for judging at least a few different approaches. Appletree has a very individual-centred approach: everyone from the manager, who visits every resident each morning, through to all the nursing and care staff and indeed the support staff, has an exceptional knowledge of each resident and what works best in each case. The care staff is exceptional. My husband was at all times treated with respect, dignity, compassion and warmth. His end-of-life care was superb with his comfort and dignity being preserved to the last. The staff at all levels was also hugely supportive of me throughout his stay there. They were always honest and transparent, which is not always the case in social care.

Appletree totally professional and kind. Treated residents and family with respect and kindness. My husband looked after for 10 1/2 months.

My husband was immaculate with his hygiene and personal appearance - a tradition maintained by the caring staff at Appletree. He was treated with kindness and patience when he needed prompting. The management went out of their way to help me when he moved in and to make funeral arrangements when he died.

All staff are considerate and kind. Very happy with the care.

Overall satisfied. Most of the staff work hard and are busy. The only issue is sometimes I hear them complaining. The food is good and varied. The tables are well set out. I would like to see more stimulation and entertainment for the residents.

I see my wife almost every day and she is practically always in bed. I appreciate she cannot be left alone in her wheelchair but I do think she would benefit from being out of bed more frequently. There could be a considerable improvement with food. The menu is utterly boring and the presentation is awful. A TV chef would be appalled.

First time in a care home - it's Ok.

Since my previous positive reviews of October 2017 and June 2018, Appletree continues to flourish, bearing good fruit. A complete refurbishment has enabled residents, relatives and other visitors to feel comfortable, giving a true home-from-home atmosphere. The top floor has now been reopened in grand style; a community liaison coordinator has been appointed to interact with various organisations within the community, in particular, to help with residents' specific wishes (my mother's own wish will soon be realised).

Residents and relatives are involved in meetings to help with good menu choices, plus other aspects affecting their lives. A group of us, as relatives, have become involved, not only with our own loved ones but with other residents and each other, evolving into a relatives' support group with the blessing of management. Increased activities thanks to the activities coordinator include twice-weekly sing-alongs, participation by ALL at Appletree.

I wish to commend this care home for their diligence in the care they are providing/have provided and continue to give to my father. Staff are kind and gentle (this has been observed). Daddy presents happy and well cared for. All staff polite and helpful. All always happy to assist and give information or comply with request pertaining to my father's care/wellbeing.

Great care for my former wife 2013/14 with vascular dementia and fading away. Also own rest care/convalescence early May 2017 - excellent, delightful friendly staff

My mother received excellent care for over the 2 year period she was a resident at Appletree Court. Sadly she died, in Appletree Court, in April this year

I have significant experience in healthcare; I am a Hospital and Hospice Doctor with over 30 years experience. I therefore feel I am in a privileged position to judge quality of care as a fellow healthcare professional. My mother was treated with respect, her individualised needs were catered for and the care was of a high standard. I have nothing but praise for the staff at all levels. The care Home had a relaxed and professional ‘feel’ and I believe this excellent culture was due to the qualities of the leadership team.

In my view, the whole team at Appletree Court function extremely well and left me and my wife feeling confident that decisions that were made about my mother’s care were always in her best interests. Thank you.

My Mum was a resident at Appletree from July 2014 to her death in March 2016! The first anniversary of her death has prompted me to write this review.

From the time of her admittance (Mum had been admitted for respite care previously) her care both from all carers and nurses alike was second to none. She was treated with respect and dignity at all times, her needs were constantly monitored and where changes were deemed necessary these were put into place and at all times I was part of the process! The Managers door was always open to me if I had any concerns and I never had any feelings of trepidation when I left the home about Mum being cared for effectively.

Lovely, warm, homely feeling when you enter the home, this I feel comes from the excellent management in place at Appletree!

I can only say I am so pleased that my husband is contented and cared for and would not wish for a better home.
