Reviews

8.5 Appletree Court Care Home has a Review Score of 8.5 (8.546)

The Review Score of 8.5 (maximum of 10) for Appletree Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 7 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Appletree Court Care Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.536 for Appletree Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (50 Excellents x 5) + (29 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.536

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.01 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Appletree Court Care Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 3.75

    2. Target of 15.4 positive Reviews (77 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 4 Reviews ÷ 15.4 Target = 0.260

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Each person's experience in relation to care homes will naturally differ, but in my case, since my 93-year-old mother was admitted in September 2016 and also twice before for respite care, I have always found only positive things to say in relation to the home. How it is run and maintained, plus all levels of staff from managers, through to admin, nurses, activities coordinator, carers, cleaners and kitchen staff, all of whom I have interacted with.

I truly enjoy my 5-weekday visits - all are friendly, concerned and caring, also accommodating. On the rare occasions when issues arose re diet or personal care, I found that by dealing with them as soon as possible, help/action always followed.

Please, could the outside name boards have the word "care" added to the signage?
At present this reads "Appletree Court Care Home with Dementia". Thank you.

My mother received excellent care for over the 2 year period she was a resident at Appletree Court. Sadly she died, in Appletree Court, in April this year

I have significant experience in healthcare; I am a Hospital and Hospice Doctor with over 30 years experience. I therefore feel I am in a privileged position to judge quality of care as a fellow healthcare professional. My mother was treated with respect, her individualised needs were catered for and the care was of a high standard. I have nothing but praise for the staff at all levels. The care Home had a relaxed and professional ‘feel’ and I believe this excellent culture was due to the qualities of the leadership team.

In my view, the whole team at Appletree Court function extremely well and left me and my wife feeling confident that decisions that were made about my mother’s care were always in her best interests. Thank you.

My Mum was a resident at Appletree from July 2014 to her death in March 2016! The first anniversary of her death has prompted me to write this review.

From the time of her admittance (Mum had been admitted for respite care previously) her care both from all carers and nurses alike was second to none. She was treated with respect and dignity at all times, her needs were constantly monitored and where changes were deemed necessary these were put into place and at all times I was part of the process! The Managers door was always open to me if I had any concerns and I never had any feelings of trepidation when I left the home about Mum being cared for effectively.

Lovely, warm, homely feeling when you enter the home, this I feel comes from the excellent management in place at Appletree!
