Unfortunately, my mother's health deteriorated in March/April this year. We have always been completely satisfied with the care our mum receives from all the staff at Davids House and cannot thank them enough. During her last days, she was given exceptional care and compassion. When a loved one is in
care you have peace of mind and that's what Davids House gave us over the time she spent there.
Reply from Ruth Woodford, Administration Manager at Davids HouseThank you for your review and we are very pleased you put your trust in us to take care of Mum, she was "one of the family" and will be greatly missed by all of us.

Initially, my Brother was very hesitant to come but eventually, he realised he needed care. We believe he was well cared for. He was always well-dressed and presentable when we visited. He enjoyed the food and found it nourishing. He found the staff very compassionate and caring We would recommend David
House as a caring, loving, and all-encompassing wonderful place for those who require long-term care.
Reply from Ruth Woodford, Administration Manager at Davids HouseThank you for your review - I have passed on your comments to all the staff who greatly appreciate positive feedback. We will have lasting fond memories of your brother - he loved his chair next to the window, where he could people watch, and could always be relied upon to have a dance with the staff!

Mum has been at Davids House for some time now, and her dementia has steadily gotten worse. The staff here are so caring and attentive. It doesn't matter what time of day I arrive, Mum is always dressed, clean and well-looked after. If I phone first and ask to take her out, they make sure she is ready.
The continuity of staff and the size of the home makes it very personal and perfect for Mum's needs.

Mum moved into Davids house in May and is already very settled and happy after some initial reluctance. The Staff are helpful and attentive and do all they can to keep Mum comfortable. Mum enjoys the many activities and is helped to join in if she needs it because she is registered blind.

We have visited our friend several times during the last 10 months, each time we have been made welcome and enjoyed our visits. I've noticed that Davids House staff have treated the residents with dignity and empathy. Davids House is always spotlessly clean and is a pleasure to visit.

My father passed away at David's House this month after spending over two years at this care home. I can't praise the staff who cared for him enough. They were always kind and respectful and took time and trouble to learn who my father was and what made him happy. My strong feeling is that the staff
came to know my father as well as any family member and they built a beautiful rapport with him. It took me quite some time to find a home that I believed would be the right place for my dad but after a talk with the manager, I knew he would be safe and well-cared for at David's House. Individual staff are so kind and devoted that I would leave the home feeling secure and happy that there was no better place for him.
Reply from Ruth Woodford, Administration Manager at Davids HouseThank you for your warm, encouraging words. Your Father was a true gentleman; very kind, caring and considerate of others. He was a joy to know and care for and will be missed by all of us here.

David's House accepted my mother straight from the hospital at very short notice. They made the whole experience as easy as possible at a time that was difficult for us as a family. Every member of staff I have met at David's House has shown great kindness to my mother and I believe they have tried
their best to make her stay as comfortable as possible. The staff do a great job and I felt my mother was in safe hands - thank you.

The staff at David's House are gentle and loving; the atmosphere is relaxed and homely; the management is professional and thoughtful; communications are clear and friendly.
We never once regretted our decision to choose David's House to care for our almost-92-year-old mother. She lived there for three
years and was always understood and valued as a unique individual.

I didn’t know David’s House existed and wanted my mum to go into a different care home nearer to where I lived. However, there were no spaces available so the local authority suggested David’s House. My mum has been a resident there since August now and I’m so glad she’s there. She’s happy and is very
well looked after. Mum’s even managed to put on 3kg since being a resident, which is great news and very reassuring as she was getting too skinny and frail whilst at home. I now wouldn’t consider any other care home for her as she loves the staff and has a laugh with them and is so well looked after. Even the non-nursing staff are great and such a help.

My experience of David's House Care Home over the last eighteen months has been strongly affected by Covid-19 and the consequent restrictions placed on care homes. Throughout, the staff have been helpful in setting up Zoom calls with the resident, which has shown us that she has remained in good shape,
contented and her usual friendly self. This was confirmed a few days ago when we were able to visit her in person. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, helpful in enabling the visit and David's House was, as before Covid, clean, fresh and homely. I remain very thankful that the resident is being cared for in David's House.
Reply from Ruth Woodford, Administration Manager at Davids HouseThank you for your review and entrusting us with the care of your friend. Cleanliness and a homely atmosphere is our aim, so we are thrilled you believe we have achieved this. Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.787)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.787) out of 10 for Davids House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 24 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.787 for Davids House is calculated as follows: ( (233 Excellents x 5) + (45 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 286 Ratings = 4.787
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Davids House is based on 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 24 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
