MY mum has been part of the Freshfields "family" Residential Home for 2 and a half years. We have nothing but praise for all the staff who work there. Mum settled in very well and is very happy to call it her home. It's always such a hard decision to make to select a home, but Freshfields have exceeded
our expectations with care, dignity, cleanliness, and all the activities arranged for them. The food is all home cooked and is outstanding. Peace of mind to our family that mum is so happy there.

Freshfield felt homely and friendly from day one for mum and visiting family. We are always made to feel welcome on the phone and in person. Staff are very caring and like friends, not just staff. All treat her with respect and dignity in her cosy room. There is a nice choice of food, and lots of activities
are available, including themed days, with special birthday treats! Mum has been resident in 'her home' for over 3 years and feels safe and content. As a family, we have peace of mind with the great 24 hour care she receives, and totally recommend Freshfields.

The staff are caring and attentive, and any issues we have are dealt with immediately. Just little touches like a visitor tray and a British TV series make it feel more like a home.
The food always looks appealing, and I know Mum enjoys it.
The kitchen always makes a birthday cake for every resident.

My brothers and I looked at various care homes and none came close to Freshfields. My mum is so happy there... she is so settled and content, we have no worries or concerns. My mum is very vocal when she isn't impressed, and she constantly says how lovely the carers are, how she loves the food too.
Home from home. Mum does lots of activities, which keeps her being sociable, as well as keeping her mind busy and using her hands.
Everyone is so kind to mum, and we are made so welcome whenever we visit. It's an open door policy and nothing is too much trouble. Freshfields are supportive of our wishes and mum's needs.

My mother has been a resident here for nearly 3 years, and we have been very happy with the quality of care provided. Mum is also happy there are always says how kind the staff are.
The home itself is in a pleasant location, and her room, although small, is cosy and equipped with a comfortable, adjustable
bed and chair.
There are a wide range of activities provided, but because mum finds it painful and difficult to move, she prefers to stay in her room to watch TV and read.

Freshfields is an amazing, caring home with skilled, dedicated and wonderful staff. All staff are very helpful making residents feel safe and cared for. The food is always lovely and my mum enjoys the home cooked meals provided. Additionally visitors are always offered drinks and cakes every visit.
My mum has been a resident for 18 months now and nothing is too much trouble in ensuring her comfort from kitchen staff, maintenance man, carers and management alike. They are quick to respond and engage the doctor to attend to her whenever needed. A truly great place offering peace of mind!

I have been very impressed overall by the standard of care at Freshfields. There is great interaction with the residents. My dad is treated with respect and his personal carers ensure he is always clean shaved and dressed appropriately. The staff are welcoming, the food is high quality. Management and
staff are very approachable always happy to help with any concerns. My dad would not have better care. Freshfields is a very homely home not clinical at all. I don't need to worry about my dad anymore.

It's always a very upsetting time when a dear relative enters a care home, but the staff were so friendly and supportive, my mum then preferred with her new friends. Freshfields is such a friendly home that 2 of my friends now have their parents living there too as my recommendation was so high. The
doctors and day-to-day care with medication and personal hygiene have been dealt with great dignity.

The staff are lovely and all treat Mum with dignity and compassion, almost as if she was their own Mum. The turnover of staff appears to be very low which is a good sign. There is always a large number of staff on duty to look after the residents.
Tasty varied menus are on offer each day. Themed
menus are often put on to commemorate special events (St Patrick's Day, etc.)
The bedrooms and community rooms are always spotless, airy and staff make every effort to personalise their bedrooms with family pictures etc
There is a wide range of activities organised for the residents with frequent quizzes, craft work, singers, and days out.
Medical care is amazing day to day and a doctor who visits every week.
Hairdressers, Chiropodists, Opticians, Dentists etc.. regularly attend for checkups and pampering.
We are so lucky to have found Freshfields for Mum. It gives the whole family great peace of mind knowing that Mum is being looked after so well.

Our father has become more difficult to deal with recently and requires a lot of additional care. Words cannot really convey the care and attention the team at Freshfields Care Home has dedicated to trying to help our dad during his stay. The home is very clean and tidy and the food is excellent. Dad
is treated with complete dignity and respect.
Our thanks to all the team at Freshfields for your dedication to all the residents and the love you show them all.

Thank goodness we chose to reserve our judgement - despite the CQC report, which says this residential care home ‘requires improvement’ - which turned out to be simply because in 2020, they were not computerised!
My 99 year old mother-in-law became a resident at Freshfields in January of this year.
My husband and I have been very impressed with the outstanding care and attention that she has received during the last 9 months or so of her life.
The manager and her deputy are exceptional in their duty to both residents and staff, making this residential home very special indeed. The atmosphere is so homely and you are always made to feel welcome. Many of the dedicated staff are long-serving, which always says so much for the management.
Never an easy job caring for elderly/frail folk, but at Freshfields it is carried out with great care and understanding. Thank you so much Freshfields.

Freshfields has been a home away from home for my father-in-law. It was the ‘homely’ feel that was the deciding factor when it came to choosing Freshfields. The staff are very accommodating to his needs and provide a really friendly and personal/kind touch to the care they give. The activities and food
are particularly a hit with my father-in-law, and his room and the rest of the home are always clean and comfortable. Thank you to all the staff at Freshfields for providing such good care.

Can’t recommend enough what an excellent home this is. All staff are very friendly caring and helpful. Mum was there for nearly 2 years and we couldn’t have wished for any better care for her especially during these difficult times. We were always made welcome with refreshments and the end of life
care she was given helped Mum and our family so much.

After the very very difficult decision being made that nan needed to move into a care home, we put all our efforts into finding somewhere that was perfect for her. We looked at over 20 care homes in the wider area and Freshfields was the only one we were willing to let her stay in. It feels like a house,
not a typical care home and is lovely from the staff to the place itself. We are so so grateful that nan was able to get a room here and to know that she is safe and taken care of. Thanks to all.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.586)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.586) out of 10 for Freshfields is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.811 for Freshfields is calculated as follows: ( (109 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 132 Ratings = 4.811
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Freshfields is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 36 registered maximum number of service users is 7.2, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
