Homemead specialises in dementia care, offering a comfortable and stress-free environment that is ideal for those living with the effects of memory loss, while being warm and welcoming towards visiting loved ones.

They have a variety of technology solutions that enrich their care offering. This pioneering use of technology saw Homemead named as a finalist in the 2022 Markel 3rd Sector Care Awards, while their ongoing excellence in supporting those living with dementia saw them receive the Dignity Award from Richmond Social Services.

The staff are excellent. This is a warm and caring home that is run by a charity (i.e.not for-profit) that focuses on dementia care. I am so happy I found it for my mother.

I would like to just add to my original review regarding my 95-year-old mother, who has been a resident at Homemead since April 2018. My family and I continue to be very happy with Homemead as we feel that she gets a lot of wonderful care there and the staff are so kind and caring. There is always a
lot going on, which keeps my mother happy as she loves being around people. The manager is extremely hard working, is always very proactive with any concerns you may have and is a great communicator. The team leaders are all lovely, as are the rest of the staff, and all of them are very helpful and cheerful and really care about the residents. As I always tell the manager, Homemead is very homely, unlike some I visited when looking for a home for my mother.

Homemead Care Home in my opinion provided my dementia suffering parent with the love and care they received when living at home with me. I will go further and say the compassion they showed went beyond anything I could ever provide. Through patience, understanding and great communication, we saw how
much our loved one benefited and improved their quality of life. Through continuous engagement my parent had a feeling of belonging, they settled easily and a reduction in anxiety was seen by friends and family speaking to them. The most important aspect of care was the medical duty of care, Homemead managed hospital visits and took ownership of the best next steps which could only be replicated by a close loved one. I cannot recommend Homemead enough.

My Wife became a resident of Homemead 27/12/18 and settled in remarkable quickly in circumstances at the time and undoubtedly this was due to the welcome received and care shown by the Manager and her excellent team then and since.
My wife has always let me know that she is happy, eating and sleeping
and permits me to feel that the selection of Homemead was absolutely the best one for her (and me). The last year has been difficult with lockdown and associated problems but the installation of the visiting pod has helped and demonstrates the thought given to assist the ongoing need to maintain contact with our loved ones in these stressful times.
Phone contact at more regular intervals is never a problem and the team at Homemead are always friendly and cooperative in getting my wife to the phone for a brief but regular chat. I regard it lucky that room was available when needed and I would not hesitate recommending Homemead to anyone seeking care for a loved one in similar circumstances.

The residents are well looked after and seem very happy and content.

The care home is a home from home. When you walk in and look around it's comforting, so calm and a warm light feeling. Every member of staff that I have come across are so understanding of my husband and how I am feeling. This is helping me with my emotions as I know how much he is being cared for and
his needs are being met. I don to worry about his care at Homemead. The home and all the staff are excellent, beautiful people. It is a huge comfort to know he will be fine there. Communication with all the staff is great and I know I will always be involved with my husband.

My great aunt is 105 years of age, and had been living alone at home with support from carers.
Due to multiple falls, it was decided that a care home setting would now be the safest option for my great aunt.
The move from home to Homemead was made easier due to the care/comfort received from everyone
at Homemead.
My great aunt has settled well, enjoying the interaction with staff and other residents at Homemead.
She was very isolated and lonely at home but in Homemead she has found the comfort of the family atmosphere.
For our family, it has been a comfort to know our loved one is looked after and cared for so well.

My aunt has been at Homemead for a while now and is settled and happy there and describes it as her home. The location is close to where she used to live so her friends can visit and stay in touch with her. The staff are all lovely and really care for the residents, making the place feel like a proper
home.
Since the Coronavirus outbreak everyone there has stayed healthy which, given some of the terrible news stories, is an achievement in itself.

Mum has settled in extremely well in the last six months. She loves being surrounded by people, something she was missing when she was alone at home with one carer and one temp carer (holiday cover). Now she has more stimulation with a range of activities throughout the day and a bigger choice of food
which has helped her enormously. The carers have got to know and understand her too. The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming as soon as I step in the door.

My 98 year old father, who has Alzheimer's, moved to Homemead from a home on the south coast a year ago. He moved to be nearer the family and because of concerns I had with the previous home. I was very worried about how my father would cope with the move. Thankfully with the support and kindness of
the staff at Homemead he settled in very quickly. I have been very impressed by the caring ethos of Homemead and have always found all the staff to be very friendly, kind and understanding. The management team have a refreshingly hands-on approach and there is always a senior member of the team available to discuss any concerns. Communication has been excellent and a senior member of staff has always phoned as soon as any health issues, however minor, have occurred. Whenever I or any of the family visit, we are always made very welcome. In the current 'lockdown' situation personal visits are understandably not possible but it is reassuring to know that my father is in safe hands.

Mum has been looked after by the amazing staff for the last three years. Mum can be “tricky” at times - since day one the staff have bonded with her and given her amazing care! I would not hesitate to recommend.

A very warm, caring staff who do their utmost to create a happy, relaxed and joyful atmosphere for all who reside, work and visit. Be sure, no matter how informal things maybe, everything is dealt with quickly and professionally. Whatever you may ask of them, however busy they may be, they deal with
it straight away, with a smile on their face and with grace. This gives my mother and me great piece of mind and reassurance for the safety and well-being of my uncle. We know without any doubt we made the right decision when we chose Homemead.

For the last 7 months Mum has been a resident at Homemead where she is happy and well looked after.
During this terrible pandemic, the staff have worked tirelessly to keep the residents safe and I cannot thank them enough for their hard work in these difficult times. The staff have had to take on
additional tasks as no external entertainers are allowed into the home but they are always happy to facilitate telephone and video calls so I can keep in touch with my mum. Nothing is too much trouble for them.
We are so lucky that we found this home for Mum.

Right from visiting the home I felt it gave the vibes I wanted for my Mum. She has recently been widowed and sufferers with Alzheimer's. Finding Homemead, I knew it was right for my Mum. It's not been easy for Mum to settle into new surroundings, but the caring staff have helped tp the highest level.
She now is part of the family at Homemead, and I can visit whenever I want. I feel she is safe, cared for and happy.

A very welcoming home with attractive residents lounge. My friend is well cared for, enjoys the activities and the food. The staff are friendly, caring and take time to engage with residents and assist those needing extra help. There always seem to be a good number on duty.

All the staff at Homemead have worked extremely hard to settle my father into the home and make him feel looked after. They have bent over backwards to arrange items he needed, and we feel that they would make every effort to attend to his needs. They have allowed him to follow his old routine, which
I am sure is more difficult and time-consuming for them, but they clearly want him to be comfortable and happy.
I would not hesitate to recommend Homemead.

With six years as a Registered Manager, she has also held roles such as Operations Manager overseeing seven mental health and learning disabilities services, Care Home Manager, Deputy Care Manager, Health and Social Care Trainer, Field Care Supervisor, and Senior Care Coordinator.


Her background includes experience in the NHS as a Practice Manager, NHS Patient Care Manager, Health Advisor for NHS111, and Administrator.
