Here's a review for Lawnfield House:

---

My mother was a resident at Lawnfield House, and I cannot speak highly enough of the exceptional care she received. Every staff member demonstrated genuine compassion and professionalism, but I must particularly commend Nora, Edna, and Casetta, whose dedication

to my mum's wellbeing was truly outstanding.

Lauren, the manager, was exemplary in her communication, keeping our family consistently informed about any changes to my mother's care. This thoughtful approach gave us tremendous peace of mind during what can be a difficult time.

Monique at the front desk went above and beyond in coordinating external appointments for hairdressing and podiatry, handling these arrangements with efficiency and care.

The facilities themselves were impeccable. My mum's room was always clean and comfortable, while the communal areas and gardens were beautifully maintained and created a welcoming, homely atmosphere.

Reply from Lauren Sparg, Home Manager at Lawnfield HouseI would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you for your really wonderful, kind, complimentary and inspiring words that you have shared on your review for Lawnfield House. They were so lovely to read. I will certainly be sharing your wonderful words with the staff team, particularly with the staff who you have especially mentioned.

It was an absolute pleasure having your Mum stay with us at Lawnfield House. She had sincere empathy and care in her eyes. It was a joy caring for your Mum up until her last day here and we feel honoured to have been a part of her life journey in the final stages. She is definitely missed, and we will always remember her.

My father is a resident at Lawnfield House and has dementia. He is treated with the utmost respect and dignity by all the staff, who are kind, patient, and always make sure he's comfortable and supported. The home is well managed and has a lovely, homely feel. The management team are professional and
approachable, and communication is good - we're always kept up to date and feel confident that he's in safe hands. There's a real sense of community, and there are plenty of activities to get involved in if you wish. Every time we visit, we're made to feel genuinely welcome, which really means a lot to our family. It's a warm, caring environment, and we're very grateful for the wonderful care my father receives. I would highly recommend Lawnfield House.

Both of my parents resided at Lawnfield House for more than 3 years until their very recent deaths. During that time they were treated with respect and compassion by all of the staff, who dealt with their complex health needs, hospital stays, and many other day to day issues in a friendly, supportive
and patient manner. This was extended to all visitors who were always welcomed.
Some things really stood out as making a difference:
Getting to know the residents and their families very well and encouraging everybody to join in.
Keeping us informed of any illness, concern and the overall well-being of our parents.
The size and layout of the care home. Lawnfield House has a small number of residents, with just a ground and first floor with some outside space, so it always felt intimate, safe and very caring.
We are extremely grateful to everyone at Lawnfield House for the love and attention they have shown to our parents and to us, and for making a difficult time so much easier.
Reply from Lauren Sparg, Home Manager at Lawnfield HouseI would like to take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to post a review for Lawnfield House. Your kind words about our staff team are very much appreciated, valued and welcomed. A little praise can go a long way for our staff team for the work that we do, so thank you. It was an absolute pleasure having your Mum and Dad live with us at Lawnfield House all these years. We certainly do miss them. They will always remain a part of our Lawnfield House family. Thank you once again for your kind and positive comments and ratings.

My Aunt, now aged 92, has been a resident at Lawnfield House for just over two years. When she was in hospital due to a serious fall in her own home, she was placed at Lawnfield by the social worker and my sisters and I have been deeply thankful that it has been such a good home for her. She has been
happier, better socialised, respected and treated with affection on a daily basis than ever before in her life and this has meant a significant improvement in her mental and spiritual as well as physical health.
The staff are always kind and patient with her and they communicate well with me on the phone and when I visit. The manager and administrative staff are accessible and responsive to any questions or needs.
Her room and the en-suite are always clean, the hairdresser visits regularly and on the few occasions when a GP visit has been needed, the staff organise it promptly.

Our Father was in Lawnfield House for approximately 3 years until his passing in May 2022. During his stay in this 5-star Care Home, he was always happy/comfortable and the staff all looked after him extremely well. The food was great, his bedroom and ensuite bathroom was clean and the overall facility
was always warm and welcoming. However, the best thing about Lawnfield House is the staff! Everybody from the strict but very competent and caring Managers to the wonderful Care Team, to the auxiliary and night staff were top-notch people, all of them with an innate ability for caring, respecting and patience. If I fast forward now to January 2025 and the present date, it suddenly became necessary to find a care home for our lovely mother. My sister and I made one call to Lawnfield House just to ensure that the manager and many other staff were all still running the place and our decision was easy. Mum moved into Lawnfield a few days ago. Good luck with your search.

We are delighted to have your mum staying with us after having had your father stay with us previously all those years ago. We will endeavour to care for your Mum as best we can and support her to live later life well.

My mum has been in Lawnfield House for the past six years. She has extremely complex medical needs as well as Parkinson's dementia. The staff and management go out of their way not only to take practical care of Mum but emotional care too. They are loving and kind. If they think there might be something
wrong, they do not hesitate to call me. For the past six years I have turned up at the Home unannounced at all times of the day and night and have never found it to be anything other than warm professional and caring. I cannot recommend this Home highly enough. The managers are kind, capable, conscientious and respectful. And my mum's care team are loving and kind to my mum and all the residents. It is a hard choice to put a loved one into care but I have never regretted my mum being at Lawnfield House, it is a home away from home. Not just for Mum, but for me and my brothers, too.
Reply from Lauren Sparg, Home Manager at Lawnfield HouseWhat a beautiful heart-warming review you have submitted about Lawnfield House and our staff team. A little praise goes a long way, and you have just given our staff team a massive amount of praise. It really means so much and makes everything that we do in the care home worth it. Thank you. It has always been a real privilege having your Mum stay with us at Lawnfield House. She has a fabulous sense of humour, a heart of pure gold and she gives the best hugs, even to me when I feel I need one. We also love it when you and your brothers visit. You chat with the staff and we feel that you are a part of our family. Thank you so much for these wonderful sincere words of praise. My aunt has been in the Lawnfield home for a year now. We are very pleased with the care she receives. The staff are very friendly and caring towards her. The staff are very welcoming towards us when we visit and are also willing to answer any questions we have. The home is very well maintained and
my aunt's room is kept very clean. The management are at hand to answer any queries that arise. We have attended a couple of parties there to celebrate special occasions. They were great times with a brilliant atmosphere and all the staff took part. She is very happy at Lawnfield. Thank you all for looking after her.

My elderly aunt has been in Lawnfield House for just over six months. I have visited on several occasions and found my aunt in good health. Clean and tidy and happily engaging with staff and other residents. She told me the staff are very kind to her and was able to tell me their names and who was the
main person in charge of her everyday care. A few times I have rung to talk to management. They instantly know who I am enquiring about. And are very courteous and knowledgeable.
Our family are very pleased with all aspects of the running of this establishment. And our aunty is happy also.

My dad was a resident here from June 21 to March 22 until he was evicted by the manager as they couldn't meet his needs despite him having 24/7 agency carers. The manager, I believe wanted him out as I made too many complaints over his care.
Had wanted him out for a few months before he eventually
went to the hospital with dehydration and a chest infection. The hospital wanted him back there but the care home wouldn't take him back, unfortunately, he broke his hip in hospital. This care home says it's a specialist in dementia but many of the staff don't know about dementia. There was no heating working properly on the ground floor. I had to buy a heater. I was told the heating hadn't worked for 7 years. My dad was left to wander out in the garden at night by himself. I asked for a lock to be put on the door but couldn't as said was a fire door despite being 2 fire doors. A few care staff are nasty and disrespectful to both residents /family members. Bedding lacking /towels frayed/holes bed wet with urine regularly.
Reply from Lauren Sparg, Home Manager at Lawnfield HouseThank you for your feedback. I am very sorry to read that you found some issues with our care home. I am also sorry to hear that your Dad sustained a fracture to his hip while in the hospital, and I am sorry to hear that you had a negative perception of Lawnfield House during your Dad's short time with us. I do understand that this was very difficult for you. We have investigated the points you have raised and would appreciate the opportunity to share our findings with you once again if you would find that helpful. Since my father has moved to Lawnfield House, he has been getting the best care ever. He has improved significantly with his health (i.e eating and sleeping) in comparison to his last home.
Dementia is a disease that can’t be cured, but here at MHA the staff treat my dad with so much care. They are
kind and considerate to his everyday life and his needs.
As a family, they have been very accommodating with our transition to Lawnfield House. Regular visits and day outings with my father has helped us tremendously to cope with his disease.
Every member of staff is friendly and supportive. I definitely would recommend Lawnfield House to anyone that’s looking for care for their loved ones.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.922 for Lawnfield House is calculated as follows: ( (119 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 129 Ratings = 4.922
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lawnfield House is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 41 registered maximum number of service users is 8.2, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
