My husband unfortunately was only at this care home for a short time but the great care and kindness he received from all members of nursing and carer staff was of great comfort to our family.

My aunt spent the last few months of her life in The Summers. She was treated exceptionally well in every respect. They really cared for her to the smallest detail, and were extremely patient with her. They were also very kind to the family when we visited.

Such a lovely Home, and very caring staff. Thank you for everything you did to make the last few months of her life special.

I can't speak highly enough of The Summer's Nursing Home, where my mum lives. The staff and management have been incredibly hospitable and supportive, allowing me to host a monthly cheese and wine evening for residents and their families.
Our first evening took place this week, and it was absolutely wonderful. The manager and staff went above and beyond-nothing was too much trouble. I provided a list, and they kindly sourced all the food, set up beautiful cheese boards and wine, and made sure everything ran smoothly.
We had music, singing, and dancing, and the atmosphere was truly joyful. Residents, families, my husband, and everyone involved had such a lovely time. The home created a caring, relaxed, and welcoming environment that made the evening very special.

These evenings will now be held on the last Thursday of every month, which says so much about how accommodating and caring the home is. A truly wonderful place with exceptional staff.

My mum was in The Summers for 4 months, unfortunately she passed away because of her illness last week.
She was looked after and cared for, the staff are so lovely, mum felt safe there, I could sleep at night knowing she had 24 hour care.
The staff were amazing, they not only looked after mum, but me too, always checking we were
ok etc.
I can't praise them enough really!!
Mum couldn't join in activities etc.

I miss my mum so much, but I also miss the staff at The Summers, I could talk to them whenever I needed to ask questions about mum, also have little chats with me too, thank you so much for mums care.

I needed respite care for my mum but also realised she was nearing end of life at the Grand Age of 106. Our experience with the Care Home Team to get her into the home was really good, they were kind, understanding and we dealt with the paperwork really well and my mum was admitted the next day. She had a quiet room on the ground floor and we were able to sit with her at any time. She was only with them for about 30 hours as she passed away very quickly after she was admitted which I felt would happen as she was so very very frail at that time. During the time she was there though myself and my family were looked after really well and treated with the utmost respect as was my mum, Bless her.

We are grateful to the Summers for their help during this time, they were so kind, caring and considerate to our every needs as well as my mums. Thank you xXx

My father was a resident of the Summers for only a short time but during his stay he was treated with dignity & respect by all the staff. Nothing was too much trouble for my father & my family whenever we went to visit. I only have positive things to say about the staff, their professionalism, empathy & genuine care they showed my father. I will never forget how my father & I were treated. Thank you to all the staff!

Mummy entered The Summers after a long spell in hospital and it was like a breath of fresh air. She was welcomed to 'the family' and treated with love, care and respect during her short time there. Unfortunately, she died after only two months but the care and love was unfailing and I am so happy that she could be safe during her last weeks. Thank you to all the staff for everything.

My nanny has been at The Summers from August this year, she is happy, stimulated and very well taken care of. She was in a home before and we see a very different Nan now, all for the better. Her room is amazing and they all can't do enough for her and us as a family. The manager is absolutely lovely, my nan adores her, nothing is too much trouble, real hands-on, such a different experience from the last home.

My mother-in-law has been at The Summers since December 2022, I have always found her happy, clean and well cared for whenever I go and visit her, she enjoys sitting on the balcony in the summer months and she also loves her meal times. They recently got a new activity coordinator and she's really enjoying doing group activities in the afternoons, the staff are amazing and all so helpful and caring, we couldn't be happier with Mum being at The Summers. And the transition of the new staff member being the manager has been seamless and she's doing a great job.

My Father has been at The Summers for just over a year and we are all very happy with the care he receives. The staff are amazing and will always go above and beyond to ensure that Residents are fulfilling their full potential when it comes to the care package and activities in place. The interaction he receives from the carers and other Residents makes him feel important and valued. The home ensures he retains his dignity. I would highly recommend The Summers.

My husband has been in The Summers for nearly a year, and he is very happy there, and the staff like him. His behaviour was challenging at first, but they soon worked out strategies to cope with him. All the staff are very caring and kind to him and me, and the reception staff and managers are always available and helpful. The activities coordinator works hard to keep the residents occupied during the day with a weekly timetable of activities on display.

My dog is allowed to visit The Summers, both staff and residents enjoy seeing her, and I take my husband out 2-3 times a week for a walk. Birthdays or Christmas can be celebrated with your family in one of their lounges. Nothing is too much trouble.

My uncle has been at The Summers for around ten years. The staff are amazing, friendly and kind. They are always there to assist and are always very polite and kind. The home is clean and tidy and welcoming.

They have a lot of fun activities for the residents that are able to participate, they also do exercises. They have a family group page for family members to see photos of their loved ones doing some of the activities. And in the warmer weather, the garden is used a lot. My uncle is very happy at The Summers care home.

I have visited my friend 5 or 6 times now. I have been made welcome by the staff and whenever they have called into his room they have been extremely helpful. My friend's state is physically challenging and I respect the staff for how they respond to this. I wish there were more activities for him to join and more therapy for him but I understand there are not enough staff. I do think more effort could have been made to get him a wheelchair which would have enabled him to move around. It was not until we employed our own physical that he was hoisted onto a chair until then he was bedridden.

Reply from Akua Buabeng, Home Manager at The Summers

Thank you for your feedback I'm sorry you feel more effort could have been made to get him a wheelchair but he was referred for a wheelchair but this was declined, he did have one-to-one activities in his room as he is anxious to come out he likes to sit in his chair in his room but can only...

I visit my brother on a regular weekly visit. He is looked after really well. He is now in bed all the time but the carers look after him, feed him etc. He is happy there and has lived there for 6 years with Alzheimer's. I am made very welcome and can visit or call the care home anytime night or day. When he was capable he joined in with the activities and watched movies in the cinema room.

My Mum was here until she passed away in November 2022. The staff are wonderful and did everything possible to look after our Mum whilst she was in their care. We felt they genuinely knew her, and what she wanted at any time and made efforts to always connect my sister and me when we called to speak to Mum using the portal.

My mother has been a resident for six years and she feels safe and looked after well.
They try to please residents with a choice of food that they prefer and encourage them to join in exercises and games. They also organise outings and bring entertainment to them.

They also hold parties a few times a year for residents and their families. You are also able to contact anytime by phone to check up on your loved ones.

Although my Dad is the only Arabic that didn't make me feel like he's a stranger. Good care for his health and for his personal life. Religion too, for example, they decorated the room in Eid and most importantly they answer my calls and if they are busy, they would call me back. We all feel like a family now in the care home. Thank you.
