Reviews

9.8 The Meadows has a Review Score of 9.8 (9.846)

The Review Score of 9.8 (maximum of 10) for The Meadows is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 31 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for The Meadows in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.846 for The Meadows is calculated as follows: ( (316 Excellents x 5) + (53 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 371 Ratings = 4.846

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Meadows is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 5 positive Reviews (25 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 18 Reviews ÷ 5 Target Reached = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My brother and I have been searching for a care home in the Ealing/Greenford area of London for our aunt, and her vicar recommended "The Meadows". We visited this home and were immediately struck by the warmth and welcoming atmosphere and the wonderful care and dedication of the staff. We felt that the staff really cared and took great pride in their work. All the residents seemed very happy as well. They have their own Italian cook and meals are freshly prepared and delicious. I wholeheartedly recommend this care home.

Jennifer, Operations Manager at The Meadows responded to this review on 26 Oct 2017:

Thank you so much, Marie-Louise. We appreciate all feedback from friends and family. It was a pleasure to be of assistance and thank you for taking the time to write this lovely review. We appreciate that we have amazing staff and reviews like this give them well-deserved credit.

This care home is exceptional in every way. The carers go over and beyond to look after the residents and put their needs before everything. It is the same staff and the same faces you see everyday. The food is excellent and the rooms are spacious, lovely and bright. I cannot fault this home. It took us a long time to find the right place for my dad, as we wanted to make sure he would be happy. I feel like we stumbled upon a hidden gem because he's never been happier.

He's finally put on weight, he's walking well and going out with the staff regularly and engages in conversation when we visit. I was worried that we as a family would never ever see this side of him again and yet this home has given him a new lease of life. All of the staff and especially the management team are so kind and helpful. They're always ready to help and you can tell that they do this because they love it. The residents needs are always first and they treat the residents like family

Ian Somauroo, Director at The Meadows responded to this review on 13 Oct 2017:

Thank you very much for your review. It is much appreciated by all the staff. With Kind Regards.

The manager and his team provide a first-class service. My siblings (seven of them) and I conducted extensive research across West London to find 'the right' care home for our Irish mam. The requirements list was a tall order from the ethos of the home, friendliness of the staff, quality of the food, accessibility to management, robust medical care, regular stimulus both physical and psychological, easy transport access, regular faith services to a competitive market rate. All eight siblings agreed that The Meadows was a perfect fit, far ahead of its competitors and we would argue it is the best in West London.

Mam has resided at The Meadows for several years now and we love watching her bond with fellow residents, she migrated to London in the fifties from Limerick, and many in the home have similar backgrounds. I have lost count of how many times The Meadows' team have gone the extra mile for mam, it is such a relief to know that her golden years are spent in the finest caring hands.

Many thanks Kieran. I am so glad that your brothers and sisters are so happy with your mum being in here. Many thanks for the review. Glad to help as ever.

The Meadows is a family run Care Home in which each family member brings an area of genuine expertise as well as an ethos of personal commitment and care for the residents. These values are fully embraced by all the staff creating an environment in which relatives and their families are cared for in the most attentive way. The facilities are good but the staff and management are outstanding. The home also offers excellent value for money. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Thank you, Simon, for the positive feedback. I am happy to serve the community as best as we could. Thanks again.

My father was discharged from hospital and needed a care home. The managers were supported and responded effectively, visiting me at home and assessing my father in the hospital. Anything I needed to know, they assisted me with during and post my dad's stay. Food was plentiful and of good quality - my Dad's every need was catered for and anticipated on occasion. His room was well-decorated and his laundry was done every day. Staff were professional, helpful and friendly. I can recommend this care home without reservation.

Thank you for your positive feedback and review. We can assure you that we will continue to maintain the standard we have set and maintain the reputation of the Home. Thank you once again.

My mother has been at The Meadows for 19 months. She suffers from the later stages of dementia. The care she has received is excellent. The staffs' consistent friendliness and considerate behaviour is making my mother happy and comfortable. The house is immaculate, the only smell is of delicious food freshly prepared every day. The managers are professional and compassionate and have taken time to talk to me and keep me up to date with any change to my mother's health. They are swift to contact my mother's doctor in the event of any concern there might be with mum's well being. My mother is beautifully cared for by the staff, she always looks clean and special cream is applied to her to prevent dryness of skin - her nails manicured and hair regularly cut. Her clothes are always clean and ironed. All people in the home are equally well cared for and their varying needs accommodated.
I am so happy that I found The Meadows, I have recommended this home to everyone I know.

Many thanks, Tessa. Glad to read such positive observation about the Home. Mum is indeed very happy to be among such a caring crowd. Thanks again.

My mother resided at this care home for 2 years. In that time she was shown the utmost respect, kindness and love by all the carers and owners. The care home is always spotlessly clean her room was homely and immaculate. The carers always had a huge welcome for all visitors and I can say hand on heart that this care home is a home away from home. She always looked well dressed (which was so important to her) and they took great care of her clothes etc. She always loved the food and the choice offered to her. The owners seemed to be present a lot and it's a family run business. Sadly my mum had a stroke and needed to go to a nursing home which does not meet the high standards of The Meadows although still a nice home. I still miss the warm welcome and genuine love shown by all the staff at The Meadows as does mum.

This care home has been exceptional in everything they do. My aunty lived here for 7 plus years and was very happy. She was treated with dignity and respect and the staff treated her like family. I cannot express my gratitude to them, especially in her final months. She had no dementia and would tell me how fantastic the staff were to her and how she couldn't have been happier anywhere else. The staff honestly go over and beyond andI would recommend this home to anyone without a shadow of a doubt. I have been to many homes but never one as phenomenal as this one.

Ian Somauroo, Company Director at The Meadows responded to this review on 21 Mar 2017:

Many thanks for your review. We are constantly looking at activities, and it's an area which comes with different beliefs. Some would argue that residents should not have to engage or be troubled with joining in activities at this late stage in life, others would say that they are tired and require rest and tender, loving care or watch TV, and others would argue that they must have their days filled with activities. I can assure you that we would continue to improve the services to the benefit of every person with an interest in the Home and its residents at large. Currently, residents are given choice over in-house activities and/or outings to the local shops, regardless of whether they are independently mobile or require assistance with aids like wheelchairs, zimmer frames or walking sticks. Thank you for your suggestion.

A friend had been suffering from severe and acute depression and could not cope with independent living. In the 6 months since he has has been at The Meadows he has made a remarkable transformation: he has put on weight, he is cheerful and friendly and he is progressing in activities which he had all but given up - reading, watching tv and conversing with people. His mental health was in an extremely parlous state and it is because of The Meadows that he has made such an excellent recovery. Its staff can only be described as excellent - they are attentive to the needs of the residents, they are good communicators and are very caring and kind people. This has to be the result of good management and employment practices. The whole atmosphere in The Meadows is one of "well-being" and on entering the building you sense you have entered a secure and warm environment where residents are well looked after by professionals who care about their welfare. I would highly recommend this care home.

Thank you, Elaine. I don't have to tell you how we enjoyed looking after your auntie. She was very special to the carers and we had a special bond. I enjoyed visiting and feeding her when she was in hospital. Her face always lit up when she saw me. We miss her dearly.
Glad to read your positive comments and feedback. Much appreciated.

My mum has been at The Meadows for nearly 18 months. She is well cared for and always clean. All the staff show her respect and are patient with her due to her lack of confidence and understanding of English. The owners and management are regularly present at the care home, which is reassuring to know that they are very much involved in the care of their residents. They are always available for a chat. If there are any issues or concerns, the owners and management always deal with them immediately and in a very professional manner.
I am always kept up to date with mum's wellbeing. All the staff are very friendly and welcome you with a smile, they also have time for a chat. Mum does say she misses her own home but, when I take her out for the day she is always eager to return to The Meadows and when the staff open the front door she feels relieved and says "I'm back home" with a smile on her face. This is comforting to me as I know she feels safe and happy.

The prospect of searching for a suitable care home for my Dad was daunting, to say the least. The staff welcomed us when we came to make an enquiry. We couldn't be happier with the level of care Dad receives. Everyone is so friendly, professional and approachable. Whenever there is a concern, staff are always willing to sit down and discuss things. Communication between the family and the staff is remarkable. Dad is happy, has made friends and we feel reassured that he is being very well looked after. It is comforting to know that Dad isn't just another resident. The staff have got to know him really well, engage him in regular conversation and enjoy involving him in activities to keep him connected. We feel he is in the best possible place and are so very grateful to everyone involved with his care needs.

The Meadows gets 10/10 from me! The owners, management and staff are excellent. So friendly and caring. I have complete peace of mind that my Mum is looked after to the highest standards by all staff. She receives excellent care and I cannot fault anything. The staff are so friendly and ready to offer me a cuppa and a biscuit when I visit Mum.
I had visited a couple of homes before finding The Meadows. I was totally put off the others by the smell of urine as soon as I entered!
You certainly don't get that at The Meadows. It is clean everywhere and I am so happy that Mum is a resident.
I would recommend this Home to anyone who needs a caring, safe, friendly and clean place to call 'home'.

Following a period of unsettlement after the passing of my Mother, we came across The Meadows and haven't looked back. Staff are professional but extremely caring and friendly. The home is clean and extremely comfortable. I visited many homes to find one that my father would be happy in and The Meadows is the best by far, even including those that charge a great deal more.

Many thanks Brian. It is always gratifying to read positive comments from family members. On behalf of the clinical staff and management, may I thank you for going into the trouble of posting your review on line.

My mother went to The Meadows as a temporary placement until a place became available closer to home. She was treated with respect and dignity and the level of care was exceptional.
Communication with staff was excellent and management were always available for support and help. I found this a real help as it was Christmas and a difficult time for Mum to be placed in a home.
The Meadows is a "home from home" and staff work hard to create its calm and homely environment. My Mum was very happy there and thank you to everyone who looked after her and always went the extra mile to give her the care and time she needed.
The family run home gives you a feeling that residents are genuinely cared about and are considered as people first, their needs and unique requirements being met as much as possible.
Thank you especially to two members of staff in particular- your support was incredible and so greatly appreciated at what was a very difficult time for our family.

The Meadows is a really lovely, exceptional care home. The staff are truly dedicated and the residents are treated with outstanding care, dignity and respect. At the beginning of our visit, we were greeted so warmly by the staff and that warmness continued throughout our time there. The residents are all so well cared for and it was lovely to see how happy they all were and how attentive the staff were towards them all. The home was warm, spotlessly clean with a vibrant atmosphere. The day we visited, they were celebrating the birthday of a resident, It was lovely to be part of such a special celebration. An exceptional care home, wonderful staff and happy well cared for residents.

Thank you with for your comments. It is indeed a pleasure to read how positively visitors view our Home. We are trying to improve and impress our client's care and treatment and we endeavour to make sure that our service provision at The Meadows does not remotely replicate what the media reports of other care homes in the news, papers, magazines and talk radio programmes. Our benchmark is to create a Home with standards fit for purpose to meet the expectations of our residents, ourselves and all our close elder relatives should they require looking after in due course.
Of course we welcome anyone who could assist us to improve our provision of care and treatment further. Again thanks a million.

My friend regularly responds to our questions, as to his welfare states he is very happy here. When we visit there always seems to be an enjoyable activity going on or an activity planned. He enjoys his food and his regular walks. The staff are all approachable and aware of his needs and often noticed to be proactive in their support.

I have looked at many care homes in different counties but can honestly say, I myself would be happy to reside at The Meadows in Greenford. All the staff without exception are very caring and compassionate and treat the residents with respect and dignity. I am extremely confident that my Sister is very well cared for and she couldn't be in a better place. I cannot speak highly enough of this care home and am so grateful to see my Sister has settled in well and is happy here. The owners should be very proud of the reputation they have achieved through sheer hard work and dedication to their residents. I am very confident that my Sister could not be in a better place and I can relax knowing she is very well cared for. This care home is the benchmark for all others.

My mother has been at the Meadows for 6 years now. I am a social worker and visit a lot of homes with my job and this is the best care home I have ever been to. The care is outstanding and the owners have done a remarkable job at turning it around. They spent a lot of money upgrading everything and making sure that the residents have the best of everything. The care is outstanding and my mum tells me the food is great and typically being a fussy eater that counts for quite a lot. The Managers are fantastic at what they do and they have a great ability to pick incredibly caring carers. This is simply the best care home out there (and as I'm sure people reading this are aware that is incredibly difficult to find). I am so grateful for the fantastic care my mother receives. She was always a well-kept woman and The Meadows understands the need and importance of keeping her well turned out. We are consulted on all her care plans and they call to update us on any changes. This is an absolute gem!

We couldn't believe our luck when a vacancy came up, as we were on the waiting list & they are always at full capacity. The owners were so friendly, kind & understanding of our needs. The home in general is exceptionally clean, with a homely-feel. We knew immediately that this was the right place for my aunty. The bedrooms are individually decorated so they don't have a clinical feel. The owners are both nurses, so that immediately put us at ease. The carers & managers are exceptional & truly care for the residents. They are all very gentle, kind & hardworking. The residents including my aunty are constantly encouraged to drink, stand & walk, so they don't develop sores & the thing that's extra special is the way the carers hug the residents & give human contact. I was recently at the home when the activity coordinator was working & she was amazing. She said she can tailor make plans for the residents, but they usually play bingo, bowling, karaoke, cards, painting & darts. I cannot fault this home!

Dad has been at The Meadows for a few months now and I have never seen him so happy. I did my research before deciding on The Meadows but only actually went to visit one other home. As soon as I walked in I knew it was the home for dad. I realised there was no point in visiting other homes, as this was the one!. It is a small home and it actually feels like "home". All of the staff are really friendly, caring and kind, from the owners, to the manager, carers and all the other staff. Whenever I visit, staff know my name and always have a little chat. The owners have a great sense of humour and always have time to chat to the residents and their family, and the owners are there on a regular basis. Dad calls it his home and settled in very quickly and even after a week said "where would I find a better place than this? And he still says this.

The carers are very aware of all the residents individual needs, a few weeks ago I was there at tea time and the menu was pasta (dad is not too keen on pasta) and therefore did not eat too much of it, (even though it looked yummy). The staff then got him sandwiches as they were concerned that he had not eaten much.

Everytime I visit it is always clean, security is excellent, visitors are not given the code to get out.
I would strongly recommend The Meadows

When I first walked into The Meadows Residential Care Home looking for a place for my mum, I was greeted with a very warm welcome by staff in a very homely atmosphere, I immediately felt this could be the right home. During my visit I spoke to residents who all seemed happy and well cared for. The owners were very understanding and helpful especially during the assessment process, and the setting up of mum’s room with her own furniture and ornaments. All of our requests were met, even changing the wash hand basin taps in mum’s en-suite bathroom. On mum's arrival she was welcomed into the home with a lovely bunch of flowers and welcome note.
The home is well managed and run to a very high standard, the owner’s and their staff are very committed to the home and resident’s needs. The office manager is very efficient, professional and helpful and the hardworking staff very friendly and caring to residents and visitors. The home is kept very clean throughout and always has a pleasant smell.
Mum has settled in quickly, she feels very safe and is well cared for by all staff. The care, kindness, attention and support given to my mum is excellent, this is of utmost importance to mum and her family. My mum is very happy and feels respected and supported at The Meadows.
The standard of care provided is highly professional, the owners and staff create a very friendly and approachable atmosphere and are always happy to help with resident’s needs. Staff are brilliant in every way always cheerful and helpful, nothing is too much trouble, they always take time to talk to us as well as mum, making us all feel welcome. I am very happy mum has moved into a very nice home.
I would strongly recommend this home to friends and relatives or anyone reading this review.

My Mother spent over 4 years at The Meadows in Greenford suffering from Dementia and the personal support needs coming from old age. During this period the care and individual attention she received during her stay was excellent in every respect. The Meadows provides a well managed environment that looks after the needs of its clients with pride, commitment and to the highest professional standards you could wish for. The owners and staff are very friendly, hardworking and approachable but most importantly highly professional in the standard of care they continue to provide.

Sadly aged 90 our Mother passed away in July 2015 it was a very sad and emotional period for me and my brothers but I can honestly say the staff at The Meadows had been exceptional in every respect during this time. The Manager was so caring and supportive and a real professional helping us deal with Mum's last few days so she passed away comfortably with dignity and respect. We could not have wished for more support during Mum's last few days, everything possible was done to make her comfortable during her end of life care and to look after our needs.

The owner has transformed the Meadows into a well managed home and an example of best practice that I am sure others could learn from. The home has undergone significant investment in the past 3/4 years improving and extending facilities for residents and staff to very high standards.

As a family The Meadows is very important to us as my late Mother's sister is also a resident and like Mum was, my Aunt is looked after according to her agreed care plans giving us peace of mind and the confidence she is being cared for to the highest standards.

Thank you to the management and all staff at The Meadows for your ongoing commitment and delivering the quality care standards that we see consistently every time we visit the home.

Well run, friendly staff, very knowledgeable about dealing with old people, a lot better than NHS Hospitals! Lots of staff on hand to look after the residents. This is in a handy location near the A40 but surprisingly quiet.

My mother was a resident at The Meadows up until she passed away in July of this year.
She was lucky to of had 4 and a half years here and received excellent care and compassion throughout.
There have been many changes during that time, most notably the change of ownership to its present owners.
The managers are continuing to develop The Meadows to ensure that the best possible care and attention is given to all the residents.
The care that my mother was given towards the end of her life was above and beyond all duties.
I now have my aunt still a resident there and she is very well cared for and well looked after.
The manager and all the care staff are excellent and treat all residents as individuals.

The Meadows is a very well-run and caring home for its residents and caters well for a range of needs with a conscientious and hard-working staff. It feels like a 'home' rather than an institution and families are openly welcomed to visit any time of the day - often met with a lovely cup of tea and biscuit! The Manager works hard to ensure staff are supervised and are addressing the residents' needs and also ensures she meets regularly with families to discuss any concerns that have arisen. Communication lines are very clearly followed and reassure families who may have questions and queries. The home has very good links with an excellent GP service - medical issues are dealt with very promptly which is crucial when dealing with the elderly. In fact, the manager works very hard to liaise with all external agencies involved in the care of the residents to ensure they have all the care they need. Residents appear very happy and relaxed in their homely environment. A range of activities is provided for residents to participate in, though care is taken to tailor the tasks to the interests of the resident. All in all, the Meadows is a happy home though the management and owners are always looking at ways to improve it.
