My father is treated with care and compassion and I’m so very grateful to all the staff for looking after him so well. As his Alzheimer’s progressed the decision to move him to residential care was an inevitable but very heartbreaking one to take. I’m so glad I found The Meadows Residential Care Home. He is so well cared for and content that he thinks he is still at home. The staff are considerate, friendly and respectful. The home is spotlessly clean and furnishings and decor are to a high standard. Since becoming a resident he has regained his appetite and put on a little weight. I have no hesitation in highly recommending Meadows to those facing a similar predicament and whose loved one is no longer safe at home. Meadows will be a home from home for them, where they will be safe and well looked after.

Many thanks. It was nice to have you at our party. It was the first party we have been able to celebrate the festive season with the families since Covid struck the country. Yes, it went with a bang and everyone had a wonderful time. Merry Christmas to you and all members of your family and thank you for the review.

My aunt has been in the Meadows for a year now, after finding it increasingly difficult to cope independently at home. Like many, I suspect, she did not want to go into a care home but we were faced with the inevitability after a fall and a stay in hospital. It was at this point that two of her friends independently suggested the Meadows as suitable and I am so pleased they did. It was this recommendation from trusted friends who had personal experience of the Meadows that gave us the confidence to go ahead. It was a big change for my aunt going from independent living to being a resident in a care home but the management and staff at the Meadows have been unfailingly kind and considerate, enabling my aunt to adjust and settle in in her own time. A big thanks to all at The Meadows.

Overall Experience

My mother was very well looked after in The Meadows and I always felt that she was in a safe and secure environment, where her needs were addressed by the friendly and accommodating staff. I was always kept informed of any situation which arose with my mother, especially with the Covid pandemic resulting in me not being able to visit as often as I would have wished. The owner, manager and all carers were very approachable and importantly, listened and worked closely with me to ensure my mother was content and as stress-free as possible. On my visits to the home, I was always impressed at the warmth, care and respect the staff showed to all the residents and this was reflected in the happiness and relaxed manner of both residents and staff. The home was bright and modern and my mother told me the food was very good and the residents enjoyed many activities. I would have no hesitation in recommending The Meadows as a first-class home.

My father-in-law has been at The Meadows since December 2018, and throughout that time, his care has been second to none. He suffered from Alzheimer's. but this year, after a hospital visit last summer, his health has declined considerably. All the staff from management to the carers to the cooks and cleaners have been amazing. They have nursed him back to physical good health, ensuring he has regular contact and stimulation despite being confined to his room currently. Communication with the home is excellent, and nothing is ever too much trouble.

Reply from Ian Somauroo, Director at The Meadows Residential Care Home

Many thanks for your review, Kevin. As usual, I can speak on behalf of everyone in saying that it has been a pleasure looking after John, and overcoming his frailty and declining physical health. It is absolutely marvellous to see how well he is now doing, credit to all the girls. Long may be continue to enjoy good health once again. Thank you once again.

Mum has been at the home for over a year. We took our time to check all the care homes in the area, and to be honest, I am so glad that we picked The Meadows. Mum is so happy with everything. The staff are excellent. Management is always at hand to oversee every single aspect of care. The activities are amazing. There is an air of relaxation and comfort throughout the home. They did very well to contain any spread of Covid. We are so happy and thankful to The Meadows.

My aunt needed an emergency bed and I could not believe our good fortune to find a vacant bed here. There is a lovely, fresh smell when you enter, which is always an insight of a clean home. The residents are all well cared for and there are lots of activities on offer. My aunt expressed her happiness and satisfaction with stay.

Dad has been at The Meadows for nearly two weeks. As a family, it was difficult when we realised that Dad could no longer remain in his own home. The team have really helped with the move and Dad seems to have settled in well. All of the staff seem to be very caring, friendly and professional. The home is modern and clean. There are lots of activities during the day to keep residents entertained and there seems to be a high ratio of staff to residents. The food is good and Dad has been eating well which he was not doing when he was still living on his own.

This home is not cheap but you get what you pay for and the peace of mind that comes with knowing that Dad is safe and being well looked after by a caring team is worth it for our family.

This is a wonderful home, that took my aunt in at short notice. My aunt sufferers with dementia and had been distressed for months, when having to live in her own home, alone, prior to arriving at The Meadows.
Within 24-hours of arriving here, her whole world was happy again.
She loved it here, she made friends, helped staff and other residents, ate good wholesome food and most importantly, was very happy.
I cannot praise the staff enough for what they achieved with my aunt.

I would like to say a personal 'thank you' to the manager, who made what could have been a stressful experience for all of us, into a welcome experience. Thank you with all my heart.
