When I arrived at Sunrise there was a "good" feeling. Everyone was friendly with a smile. I was directed to the information desk where my questions were answered. The home is clean and inviting. Information packs are available relating eg accommodation, dining, light precautions, laundry, maintenance, outings, post, well-being, hairdressing etc. I'm pleased I became a resident here.

Since living here I have settled in well, pleasant and friendly staff have helped with this. Friends I have made here have made me settle in their company also. I make use of the visits by coach etc. visiting the area around here at various places.

The care home is friendly, bright and cheerful. They provide a lot of activities for the residents. The communal areas and gardens are clean and tidy. The residents are always well turned out. They make the family who visits residents welcome problems/issues are responded to very well by the care manager whose door is always open. The only issue is the time it sometimes takes to answer the call bell. There have been several occasions where my mother has waited a long time (Up to 1 hour) to be taken to the bathroom and put to bed. Not all carers are told the background to my mother and so do not know how to take her to the bathroom, etc. My mother is very immobile and her bathroom does not allow for her to have as if it was a "wet room" then she could shower.

Definitely the best home in this area. Wonderful location with fantastic gardens. Staff are all very helpful and friendly. Parking is still a challenge as normally very busy. Communication and regular feedback could be improved. Meals and entertainment facilities are first class.

The staff at Sunrise are caring, compassionate, smiling, happy and extremely welcoming. Even though my father was only in there a few months, they treated him with dignity and respect. They were alert to his problems and he called them his angels. The building was always clean and they always welcomed everyone. Even after he passed on, they still showed dignity and respect. His last journey was from Sunrise and the carers and management came out to pay their respect. They lined the drive and to this day, his family found it overwhelming and cannot thank them enough.

Everyone has been most helpful and kind to me at all times. The staff and carers in the dining hall are kind and caring and nothing is too much trouble for them, whatever you want! all staff greet you with a smile and a cheery word, which is very encouraging when you first arrive. All in all I feel relaxed and getting better by the day!

My mum had a 4 weeks trial at this place in an 'independent' unit.
She was assessed by the care home before the trial started.
My mother could not cope with the 'independent' unit at all.
I removed her after 9 days.
There was no apology or even a sympathetic reply from the organisation.

I felt they were only interested in the fees.

I am more than happy with mum's care. We have had occasions to complain but we have spoken to management who have looked at our complaints and we are pleased to say that matters have been resolved in a quick and caring manner. Whilst I understand increases in mum's monthly care are going to happen, I believe that they are on the high side!!

As I have been able to bring my own bed and furnishings it has helped me to settle in my room and feel cosy and comfortable. Also with a nice view from my window. The meals have been varied and nourishing. Serves at small tables set for four people to enjoy the company at meal times. The bistro area has plenty of seating and a coffee and tea making machine. There are always some activities to interest most, like Yoga, Quizzes etc, and always my own room if I need some quiet time.

The carers have shown nothing but warmth to mum. They are patient and take time to ensure that she gets help when needed. When visiting mum we often hear her laughing and joking with a member of staff, they genuinely care about her, which is comforting from relatives point of view. From kitchen staff to the chap who drives the bus they always have smile and a word with mum.

I have found this care home one of the best I have been in. My relative is well looked after and she has everything she needs, and the staff cannot do enough for her. It is a very friendly place and every time I visit there is always something going on for the residents to do. I am always made to feel welcome by the staff when I visit her. It is a lovely place to live for the last few years of your life.
