Poplars Care Home

Over the time we have known Poplars. All staff have proved to be caring, professional in all areas. We thank them sincerely for all the work that they have done.

My cousin moved in to the Poplars in November 2024 and settled in on day one. The home itself, in terms of rooms, facilities etc, is ideal, but the Poplars biggest strength is the staff. The management team is very caring and it didn't take my cousin long to build a strong bond with many of them. We did a lot of initial research into care homes and feel that we have 100% made the correct choice.

The Poplars Care Home provides an outstanding quality of service. From the owner and managers in the care home, who show real affection for all the residents, the warm and friendly reception staff, who are the kindly face of the care home to residents and visitors alike, and all the careers and support staff who make the home a warm, safe and welcoming place. We initially had concerns about travelling for up to 1 hour each time to visit the care home to see our loved one but they washed away when we saw how everyone was cared for and looked after. There is a family atmosphere as soon as we walk through the front doors and we look forward to our visits to see our loved one and meet everyone there whether it's residents or staff. It is a rewarding experience and we would hope the Poplars is a model for all care homes.

My place at Poplars Care Home, I would rate the staff there as the best care staff and all staff place the residents before themselves. It's my home and I receive help. Other homes are nothing compared to this.

I have nothing but praise for the managers, care and maintenance staff for the way in which they are looking after my wife in difficult circumstance. Their caring attitude, kindness, attention to detail and their close attention to changing circumstances and their swift action to meet challenges are exemplary. I am glad to know, in trying times, that my wife is in such good hands.

All the staff are lovely towards my mum. She is very happy there.

I came to the home four and half years ago. The staff are helpful and all that I need is given to me. I have my own vegetarian menu that I choose and shop for. I like the activities. I take part in exercises, quizzes, Bingo and outings. I go out to the coffee shops and restaurants every two weeks. I feel safe at the home. I like my room, as it is clean and comfortable.

I visit a resident regularly (every couple of weeks), and as a visitor, I'm always welcomed warmly by staff who are, without fail, helpful and friendly. Residents are very well treated by the staff who show patience and understanding. There is always a full programme of things going on if residents care to join in. My friend never fails to tell me how happy she is there. I've seen her room, which is very pleasant and comfortable with an ensuite, decoratively the bedroom is clean and delightful. The residents' sitting room is thoughtfully decorated in a style which is stimulating - I love the bird wallpaper!

I always enjoy visiting my friend. The home is so friendly and welcoming. There is always a happy atmosphere with lots going on to entertain and enrich the lives of the residents. If ever I need care, this is the place I would want to be.

Very impressed by the care provided by all the staff. Warm, comfortable environment with a welcoming atmosphere. The staff makes an effort to provide enjoyable activities and entertainment for residents.

Upon approaching Poplars Care Home I was met with kindness and understanding of my position. My Wife was in need of 24-hour care which I found difficult to deal with. A room was being vacated shortly and could be prepared for my Wife. She entered the home on the 4th of August 2024 and from then on has been cared for and attended as required. Her general demeanour has improved immensely although her walking has not. She was always alert and welcoming and her general demeanour was always 1st class. Well done Poplars.

My mother-in-law was in Poplars for 18 months and during this time she received amazing care. The staff were friendly, caring and efficient. She was happy during her time there and all of her needs were cared for.

Whenever we visited the home as we did frequently my dad would always be smiling! And whatever staff were on would always make us feel at home, they would also update us as to Dad's status when we asked. Sadly my Dad has passed away now, but I am so glad he spent his time in Poplars, and quite a few members of staff attended his funeral, for which I am grateful.

The whole team at Poplars Care Home are absolutely brilliant. I am so grateful for the dignity, respect, and compassion provided to my grandad. The activities on offer are really great: parties, singing performances, and a visiting Labrador to name a few! His smile and positive response demonstrates how conscientious and caring the staff all are and what that meant to him. The carers were patient and respected his wishes throughout such as when he was determined to do tasks himself. Birthdays were special each year, with plenty of cake for everyone! The team demonstrated immense kindness and consideration towards our family, particularly during my grandad's palliative care. The team listened and reassuringly responded to our queries, consulting us throughout. Some went above and beyond in his final days, showing their professionalism and how much they care for the residents. I would definitely recommend Poplars and can’t thank the team enough for all their hard work and compassionate care.

It was an extremely hot day, but they all did it with a smile on their faces.

Our mother (grandmother) has been living in Poplars Care Home for some time. The care and kindness she has received has been fantastic. The manager and all the staff have been brilliant and Poplars is an efficient, family-centred, friendly care home, with all the occupants being treated individually for their needs. Every visit, the care home was clean and staff are always encouraging residents to participate, inventing new ideas, and making the environment welcoming. Examples of this include their regular imaginary trips away, where they reinvent different countries. Also, another example, is inviting young children to visit the care home. The recent coronation celebrations were excellent and having people come in to sing and entertain the residents regularly occurs. This excellent standard of care continues right till the end and we cannot thank them enough for the outstanding empathy and love they showed in her final days. We will always be eternally grateful. I like everything about this home.

I have been extremely impressed with the standard of care at Poplars Care Home. The complete care package for my sister was totally comprehensive and covers everything. The staff are lovely, caring and friendly, I feel reassured that my sister is safe and well cared for.
