I am happy with the service the home is providing. I have made new friends and enjoy all the meals. I like some of the activities but I would like to go out more often.

My aunt is a resident of Poplars Care Home and she is being well looked after. Without exception, the staff are professional, caring and friendly. It is hard to see a relative leave their own home but they have done everything possible to settle her in. She is enjoying the company of the staff and residents, feels safe, and loves the meals.

We reviewed a lot of care homes before picking this one for our Mum. It has given great relief and security to know she is well looked after by such kind and caring staff. I always feel she is being well looked after here and we know we have nothing to worry about. Facilities and activities are very good. A jolly atmosphere considering a lot of the patients have dementia.

Lovely, friendly welcoming atmosphere and staff.

Staff have done so much to make Mum so very welcome into her new environment.
It is now 6 weeks since Mum arrived and it is good to see how the home is getting Mum motivated to be involved in many different activities.

Very happy with all aspects of Mum's care.

I met two of the staff at Dementia Alliance Hillingdon coincidentally as I was seeking information for my elderly mother who has vascular dementia.
Following a cataract operation, the family felt, particularly with medication etc, we needed a safe, caring environment to look after mum.
Poplars provide this naturally with committed staff who always put residents first.
Lots of stimulation with regular daily activities.

Very refreshing to witness.

As mum's mental capacity diminishes, I am very pleased with the tolerance and patience shown to her by the staff and carers.

I am more than happy with the standard of care mum receives. She is kept clean, is well dressed and eats very well.

My mother moved into Poplars Care Home in November 2016. She has settled very well thanks to the caring, hard working staff. I have observed high standards in all aspects of this home. Staff are kind and friendly and the home is well maintained and nicely decorated. Staff take the time to talk to relatives and keep them informed. I am confident that my mother is well cared for.

Reply from Wendy Man, Deputy Manager at Poplars Care Home

The staff here at Poplars Care Home have been so good to mum. She arrived here unable to walk and very frail. She had bedsores and was in a lot of pain. As the days and weeks that went by here she became better and better. The staff here gave mum all the attention to make her well again. The day before mums death the staff showed me what mum could do! She was walking again, happy eating ice cream with me in the garden- amazing! Thanks again Poplars Care Home.

We are happy with the overall care and support showed to our mother. We feel it would be nice if there was more 1-1 interaction with staff but we totally understand that it is a matter of time. We are aware that our mother responds better with 1-1 time than in a big group. We do feel the staff have worked really hard to settle our mum and really appreciate it.

Dad has been a resident at Poplars since November 2015. He is nearly 93 and suffers from frontal lobe dementia and numerous other problems. Due to the thought given to his care and the friendliness of the staff, he settled in happily and quickly. His wishes are always considered. He is treated with dignity and respect by staff at all levels. He much enjoys the varied activities offered at Poplars Care Home, I think his favourite was going with other residents for a meal at Ruislip Lido. Think he is probably less enthusiastic about the exercise sessions!. There is a very "can do" attitude at Poplars Care Home which helps puts them head and shoulders above the other care homes.

The premises has recently been refurbished internally and externally. Location is excellent. Activities are provided but could be increased and extended. The importance of quality of food must be recognised and high standard maintained. Importance is given to resident safety and security overall, very satisfied with the service provided.

My mother is always treated with dignity, even though she can sometimes be difficult! The carers arrange outings on a regular basis (tea dances, local parks) and have events in house (Queens birthday) and involved all the residents who want to participate.
My family and and know that my mother is being well cared for, is being fed well and the carers update us regularly on her situation.

As a family we are encouraged to participate in any events we would like to. Overall very happy with Poplars!

Caroline Monaghan-FoxJob Title:Registered Care ManagerJoined: 2020

After completing a Psychology degree I worked in a variety of support roles working with people with mental ill health and worked my way up to Registered Manager. I have had 16 years of experience in this role in a variety of residential settings with different client groups and also have area-managed residential and supported living services.

It is a huge responsibility to be entrusted with your loved ones and it is my aim that their experience of care is fun, safe and person-centred achieved via an established and well-trained care team who absolutely have the right values for the job.

My role at the Home is to oversee the catering, housekeeping, and laundry. IT and maintenance of the Home. My priorities are safety for the residents, staff and visitors and a lot of my work involves maintaining compliance and pushing the service forward with innovative solutions.

The best part of my role is the residents; I will always make time to chat. I am passionate about learning more about how they want their care and the service to run. I also enjoy seeing the Poplars team working towards common goals.

Julie Bell
Julie BellJob Title:Office ManagerJoined: 2021

I joined Poplars in November 2021. I decided that after working in the logistics business for over 25 years I needed a change of direction. I wanted to work in a job where I could use my organisational, analytical, and social skills to support people and Poplars has been the perfect choice.

The best part of my job is being able to spend some time during the day to have a chat with the residents at Poplars or join in one of the daily activities, which makes the sometimes very busy days very worthwhile.

My challenge has been to learn the procedures of what is required to work in a care home and to move out of my comfort zone and learn new things. No day is the same.

I was looking for a job where I would arrive at work with a smile on my face and leave with a smile on my face and I’ve found that at Poplars.
