Queen Elizabeth House has, for the last year, provided my aunt with a new home in which she has been very happy. She has lots of new friends at the same time as being able to continue with her ongoing social life. Her friends and family are always made very welcome. Her care is extremely good, she thrives
on the good food and personal care she receives.

My mother has been a resident of Queen Elizabeth house for over 6 years. During that time her needs have changed, but she has continued to receive excellent care. The home has a wonderful, caring ethos. All the staff know each resident and treat them as individuals. The residents' dignity is maintained
at all times.

Residents are offered stimulating activities plus visits to local places of interest. Pupils from local schools often visit. There is a pleasant garden. Relatives and friends are encouraged to take an active part in events such as the summer and Christmas fayres. The home is staffed by dedicated, caring people. From the cooks to the maintenance man, from the manageress to the carers and office staff, everyone works tirelessly on behalf of residents. Residents' care plans are regularly reviewed with the resident and their relatives. The expertise of the senior carers is most reassuring and appreciated. "Completely professional, yet personal and caring" - sums them up.

My mother came to Queen Elizabeth House in April 2017, following a stay in hospital. Having to move her to a care home was a very emotional anxious time for her and all the family. She was greeted at the door on arrival, shown to a lovely clean room with ensuite facilities and made to feel very welcome.

I

cannot speak highly enough of all staff at Queen Elizabeth House, they helped her every need in a very kindly and caring manner. She soon gained more confidence and strength. There are daily activities and excersize classes which keeps her joints and mind active. She loves the food and looks forward to meal times. Every effort is made to make sure the residents are safe and cared for, and treated with the dignity and respect they so deserve.

Queen Elizabeth House is very well run and managed and her staff are always on hand to attend to any situation that should arise day or night. My family have peace of mind that she is safe, cared for and contented.

Our mother joined Queen Elizabeth House in April 2017. Since then her confidence and well-being has so much improved despite her partial sight loss and health issues.

We found the staff to be dedicated and caring - nothing is too much trouble and we are happy knowing she is in a caring, safe and

comfortable environment with delicious food and friendly residents who share the events and entertainments.

One of my main life rules is to always treat others as I wish to be treated myself. I believe this sentiment is embodied by the staff of Queen Elizabeth House. The residents are cared for with natural friendship, kindness and compassion delivered with a happy demeanor. Residents and staff have a visibly
mutual respect for one another and work together for the smooth running and harmony within their home. And it really does feel like HOME!! WELL DONE QEH.

Cannot fault anything. Staff are very helpful and keep the family informed me re any problems/concerns experienced by our mother and themselves. After 11 weeks in hospital, it was apparent our mother needed 24 hour care and as a very independent lady we had our concerns how she would adjust. She is
now happier in herself knowing caring staff are always on hand. She is treated with respect and dignity, and the staff take time to get to know her. As a family we have peace of mind and are able to visit whenever we wish. Being a smaller care home it is much more personal. We have a good relationship with carers and management. Very pleased and impressed.

My mother has been in the house for 5 and a half years, she is now 95 years of age. When she first moved in she absolutely loved it but perhaps because she has been a resident for sometime is not so enthusiastic. She has always been well looked after and the carers are first class and treat my mum with
kindness and dignity. She is still aware of everything but is physically weakening. This year a lot of the residents have either left or died so quite a few of her close friends are no longer there which is upsetting for her.

My friend has been a resident here for over four years and in that time I have witnessed a change in her, from shy and withdrawn to sharing her sense of humour with fellow residents and staff. The facilities within the home are modern and updated regularly which enable residents to reach and maintain
their potential. The standard of care I have witnessed is impressive, carried out efficiently, efficiently, compassion and dignity. The room decoration is of a high standard and are homely and spotlessly clean. Mealtimes are sociable and the food is presented beautifully, and has been selected by the residents. This home moves from strength to strength in under the guidance of a strong and effective management team.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.705)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.705) out of 10 for Queen Elizabeth House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.930 for Queen Elizabeth House is calculated as follows: ( (119 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 128 Ratings = 4.93
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Queen Elizabeth House is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 28 registered maximum number of service users is 5.6, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Beverley writes:
QEH is an award winning home which prides itself on the ethos that it is run ‘for the residents and by the residents’. The staff and the management team take pride in the knowledge that all residents regardless of their cognitive needs have a voice, choice and total control. The residents are actively involved in the management of the home from managing the main office, marketing the home, running the weekly shop, running daily film shows, interviewing staff, participating in catering committees, theatre groups, designing the garden, bathroom and all refurbishments within the home. Residents are empowered to lead the life of their choice, with support to maintain any likes, dislikes, hobbies and social needs and/or desires they might have.
