Shaftesbury Court has a wonderful environment for its residents to enjoy and a team who are devoted to enriching their residents’ lives.

Providing residential care, the team also offer respite care breaks, which can be booked in advance. These are perfect for carers looking after loved ones at home, who need a short break themselves, with the peace of mind of knowing their relative is in safe hands and being well cared for.

The apartment-style bedrooms at Shaftesbury Court are stunning – spacious and beautifully decorated, they have ensuite wet rooms, kitchenettes, lounges and even a small dining area. They are a lovely space to enjoy spending time alone with family and friends, who are welcome at any time. There are also double suites for couples and many of the bedrooms overlook the gardens.

There are welcoming lounges, where residents enjoy so many activities, from baking, arts and crafts and spending time with visiting school children, to gentle exercise sessions and pet therapy. The home also has a hair salon for pamper sessions and regular appointments with the mobile hairdresser.

Residents enjoy delicious home-cooked meals every day, prepared by the home’s chef. From roast dinners with all the trimmings, to fish and chip Fridays and lighter bites like freshly-made soups and pies. And there is home-baking every day for afternoon tea.

The enormous gardens are a real highlight, with vast lawns, a water feature, harbour-style seating, wheelchair friendly pathways and raised planters, for residents who enjoy gardening. They are a lovely place to relax in the summer and enjoy garden parties and barbecues.

But it’s the team, many of whom have worked at Shaftesbury Court for years, who make this home feel really special, creating a really warm, family feel.

Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to understand the level of care and support needed. Our 2025 weekly care fees for residential care start from £1454 but may be in the region of 30% more*. This depends on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options.

The care home has done wonders for my elderly dad; he is like a different person. When he went there, he was very depressed and weak, but now he's very happy. He is eating and drinking a lot better. The staff and management are doing a wonderful job and keep me informed about my dad. I can't fault them;
it's an excellent care home.

My father moved into Shaftesbury Court in April. He settled straight away. All of the staff were very welcoming. The staff couldn't do any more to make sure dad is safe and cared for. They provide excellent care. My dad reports how clean it is and says the food is lovely. He compares Shaftesbury Court
to a "five-star hotel". We couldn't ask for more.

My stay at Shaftesbury can only at this stage be excellent. The warmth and welcome when I arrived were quite unfailingly satisfactory.
My main concern would be the diverse menu as we now live in a diverse society so my marks fo food, I can only give food.

An elderly relative was a resident in this care home. She was taken into hospital where on the fourth day, she passed away. I notified the care home on the same day. The care home fees were up to date. I now received an invoice from the care home for a fee of 4 days, £628.57, dated from AFTER her death.
I queried it and the reply was “a contractual 3 days charged after death”. I was shocked to hear that. It seems a very heartless and cold way to charge extra after someone dies. On the contract, it says “fees will continue to be charged at the daily rate until the room has been cleared of all personal belongings”. But I would challenge anyone who would prioritise clearing personal belongings from the care home soon after a close relative’s death. And I was never told to clear the room ASAP or charges would be incurred. In these days of lockdown, how could the room be cleared after a death? I have no problem with the staff who were friendly/helpful. I am disgusted with the contract.

My mother is extremely pleased with the care she receives. She doesn't have a bad word to say about Shaftesbury Court and all the carers who work there. They take good care of her and it's a great relief to me that I know she is well looked after.
