Shaftesbury Court has a wonderful environment for its residents to enjoy and a team who are devoted to enriching their residents’ lives.

Providing residential care, the team also offer respite care breaks, which can be booked in advance. These are perfect for carers looking after loved ones at home, who need a short break themselves, with the peace of mind of knowing their relative is in safe hands and being well cared for.

The apartment-style bedrooms at Shaftesbury Court are stunning – spacious and beautifully decorated, they have ensuite wet rooms, kitchenettes, lounges and even a small dining area. They are a lovely space to enjoy spending time alone with family and friends, who are welcome at any time. There are also double suites for couples and many of the bedrooms overlook the gardens.

There are welcoming lounges, where residents enjoy so many activities, from baking, arts and crafts and spending time with visiting school children, to gentle exercise sessions and pet therapy. The home also has a hair salon for pamper sessions and regular appointments with the mobile hairdresser.

Residents enjoy delicious home-cooked meals every day, prepared by the home’s chef. From roast dinners with all the trimmings, to fish and chip Fridays and lighter bites like freshly-made soups and pies. And there is home-baking every day for afternoon tea.

The enormous gardens are a real highlight, with vast lawns, a water feature, harbour-style seating, wheelchair friendly pathways and raised planters, for residents who enjoy gardening. They are a lovely place to relax in the summer and enjoy garden parties and barbecues.

But it’s the team, many of whom have worked at Shaftesbury Court for years, who make this home feel really special, creating a really warm, family feel.

My husband, although sometimes difficult, was treated with care and respect whatever his needs. All his needs were treated with dignity and kindness.

My mother is very well looked after. I visit at least twice per week to see all is well. Most of the staff are caring and attentive to my mother's needs. There has been a change of management recently which has caused a few issues with the staff. The residents don't seem to have been affected.

Wonderful staff . A comfortable caring place to live. My father was a resident from Jan 2016 until Nov 2017 and not once was there a concern. I am confident he was happy and very well cared for. Nicely decorated and furnished rooms where you can add your own personal homely touches. Lovely meals and
drinks provided. A nice safely enclosed garden is available. My dad had his favourite staff and I'd like to thank them and all the ladies for the care and warmth they showed my dad. I recommend this home and it's wonderful staff.

There are nice equipped flats (bedroom, living room, kitchen, walk-in-shower, walk-in-closet and a balcony. The rooms are renovated. There is a nice garden in the middle of the care home.
On one side you have care if you want, on the other side you can be on your own.
Laundry is done, there are
coffee, tea, sugar, fresh milk and biscuits in your kitchen. Meal is delicious, my aunt mentioned.


Although it is a care home and never can be compared with the own home, it has a real nice appearance. Could not find a better place for my aunt. I am pleased to know that she is in a safe place. Thanks to the manager and all the staff for the good care, also helping me with entry and all things around. Regards

On behalf of my brother and sister we would like to say the following:


Our dad lived at the care home for the past 12 years and was extremely happy. Over the past few months since his illness and subsequent death last Thursday we cannot praise, and thank, the staff enough for all they have done

for him and for the love and kindness in the way they cared for him. Even though his death has left us devastated we know it has also affected the staff and it is lovely to know that they will miss him also.


Thank you from the bottom of our broken hearts.


All the staff are wonderful caring people who work tirelessly to make the residents comfortable and feel at home.
