The Spinney Care Home provides award-winning residential and residential dementia care with dignity, love and compassion.

With a focus on making life meaningful every day, residents enjoy a holistic, varied schedule of activities and events designed to promote their health and wellbeing. These include music and movement sessions, arts and crafts, as well as live performances, themed parties, animal therapy and minibus excursions to local places of interest.

The Spinney is a warm, comfortable and friendly home that offers welcoming en-suite bedrooms, spacious lounges, a bustling bistro and sunny conservatory (which is also a favourite spot for Ruby, the home's loving therapy cat). The home features a beautiful award-winning garden*, that is an oasis of calm and tranquility throughout the seasons.

And, with soothing lighting, music and aromatherapy, residents can experience multi-sensory relaxation as part of a group, or in the comfort of their own bedroom, during regular Namaste Care sessions.

Situated within walking distance of Chingford town centre, residents are also supported to maintain their connections with the local community. This includes a ‘make a wish’ initiative, granting residents’ wishes, big or small, and regular visits from Normanhurst School as part of its intergenerational engagement project.

The team is highly trained and supported to deliver the exceptional care that residents deserve, giving families the peace of mind that their loved one is receiving the highest quality care.

On visiting my relative, I was made welcome and my friend with Alzheimer’s looked clean, well cared for and happy. Covid regulations were followed with everyone’s safety considered. My friend always seems happy when engaging with staff who treat her like a family member.

I spent three weeks in respite care and was patiently shown care home facilities. I was encouraged to join keep fit and other activities. Staff showed interest in me as a person and noticed my personal preference at mealtimes and showed concern about my wellbeing as nighttime approached.

A welcoming team that put Mum at ease right away, including the nice touch of a welcome basket with magazines and sweets she likes. The move to allow us to provide family photographs and a collage before Mum's arrival really helped break the ice. Given we cannot visits right now, I really welcome sight
of photos of daily events on Facebook, which helps us keep abreast of goings-on. Thank you.

Mum has been at The Spinney for two and a half years, and from day one, Mum's care has been exceptional. I really cannot praise and thank the staff enough. It's been a tough year for everyone, and all the staff have been absolutely fantastic by supporting Mum both physically and emotionally, especially

Every resident at The Spinney is so treasured and special to us, their loved ones out here, that we invest huge trust in a care home such as this for their care, safety and health. In the 7 years in which my only sister has been resident there, that trust has been honoured from day 1 and it has been
such a reassurance to know that every single day she receives such a high standard of care, both as an individual and as part of a very special community. I have observed not only a high standard of professionalism in all of the excellent staff and leadership but also a real sensitivity and concern for each resident as an individual and their needs. My sister feels so safe and secure there and it really is a home to her where she feels she belongs and all her needs are met, as well as a high quality community facility serving the varied needs of so many other residents. Every day I know she is in the best possible hands receiving the best possible care.

My father has been a resident since January 2020. I cannot praise all staff enough, the management are always ready to answer any queries and are happy to spend time doing so. The care staff are so kind and caring, not just with the work they have to do regarding their job description, but spending
time to share a joke with Dad and us and always have a smile. Dad has put on weight since being there, the food is varied and plentiful, the chef is always happy to make sure Dad has food he likes. The activity team come up with imaginative ideas to keep all residents occupied. The whole building is spotless and well maintained. This has been a very challenging year for everyone but the residents have had the same high standard of care as before Covid. We have been able to have outside visiting when allowed and video contact when it was not allowed. Dad is very happy and has not once asked to go ‘home’, we thank everyone for everything.

My mother first went to The Spinney Care Home in March 2018. Since then, she has received excellent care from all the staff. The home puts on a variety of events for both residents and family and tries to get everyone involved.
Nothing seems to be a problem to the staff and they take it all in their
stride. We cannot praise them all too highly.

Mum has been in The Spinney for a year now. This place is beautifully clean. There are lots of wonderful carers who are very professional and nothing is too much trouble. The place has been really made to make you feel at home.
The building is exceptionally clean, the food and cakes are freshly baked
and is like beautiful home cooking.
This place has also been a great support for me to help me care for Mum.
Only downside, Mum has a wet room, but not very convenient for me to wash Mum. Could do with a shower in the bathroom.

My dad has been in The Spinney for 18 months. He is so well looked after and the activities that they do for the residents is very good and all staff, from the handyman to the manager speak to you when you come into the home.
We feel very lucky that we have him in The Spinney and it gives me so much
peace of mind that he is there.

My mother was at The Spinney for about three and a half years, and with her dementia making her unhappy and angry, it was a thankless task looking after her. The staff were nothing but kind and supportive of both my mother and the family.
At the end of her life when the family spent their days with
her, the staff on the dementia floor could not have been more caring or respectful.
I have no hesitation in recommending the Spinney Care Home as their philosophy of 'Exceptional Care without Exception' is what they are all about.

The care my mother has had at The Spinney has been excellent.
Staff are thorough and professional whilst remaining unfailingly caring and loving.
As relatives, we are made to feel welcome and comfortable. We have been involved in all decisions and delivery of care.
Managers are "hands-on", setting
an example to staff as well as monitoring the high standards.
I cannot find fault in any aspect of care at The Spinney.

I spent 6 days visiting my relative, she is thriving in a caring and stimulating environment. The food was good and the staff are kind.
My suggestion: the front door needs a wheelchair accessibility button to hold it open while wheelchairs and people using walking sticks pass through. This is practical
and not a luxury as management suggested.

My mother has been at The Spinney for over a year. The care she receives is very good, we find the staff to be very attentive and caring, there is also not a high turn over of staff, always a good sign.
The home has a very homely feel and they even have a resident cat, lovely touch. We visited a number
of homes and this was by far the best on many levels. We are very happy with the care our mother receives here. I visit practically daily so I know the staff quite well.

My aunt has received excellent care since December 2015. The staff are always kind and caring towards the residents.
The complex is always kept immaculately clean and the cook provides an excellent and varied menu. My aunt has put on weight and has never looked better for the last couple of years.

My mother has dementia and has been at The Spinney for 9 years since she was first diagnosed. We looked at a few other care homes and decided The Spinney was the best home for her and we have had no reason to think we were wrong. My only adverse thought is that it was a shame the previous manager moved
to another home as she was excellent but that is in no way is a criticism of the present management, who we find very good and professional.

Lisa

Lisa Wright

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2024

Over 13 years ago, Lisa was interviewed on a Radio 4 programme, designed to show people the potential of being able to build a rewarding career in the care sector.


Shortly after, she joined a care home as a carer and never looked back.


Since then, Lisa has gained a wealth of experience in care homes, whilst also spending time in a nursing care home setting building valuable skills and knowledge. However, her passion has always been for residential care and supporting people to build and retain as much independence as possible.


In 2018 she joined our Spinney family as a senior carer before being promoted to our deputy manager in 2021.


Mum to Kayleigh, and Nan to granddaughter Ella, Lisa is married to her husband David and together they enjoy frequent walks in the Essex countryside, and city breaks exploring different cultures and cuisines. She also loves fresh flowers and enjoys brightening her home with her creative arrangements.


Speaking about The Spinney Lisa said: “The Spinney is my second home and I love spending time with our amazing residents, their loved ones and our dedicated team. There is nothing more fulfilling to me than knowing we are making a positive difference to the lives of each person we support and care for and I’ll be forever grateful I was introduced to the care sector all of those years ago – managing our home is truly an honour.”
