My husband moved to Claremont after a previous placement was unsuitable. Claremont have overcome previous difficulties and found the correct medication and social treatment which has made him happy and more settled in the environment.

From the moment we first visited Brooklands we knew this would be the best place for Mum to live for the remainder of her life. We were very impressed with the greeting we received on entry and were shona round the home and all the facilities available. Mums room was warm and cosy and had nice furniture.
We were able to take her recliner chair in which was nice for her to have something familiar around her. Everyone we meet on our many visits was very friendly and cheerful and greeted us with a smile. The laundry service is excellant. Office staff very helpful. This would be first choice if I needed a home in the future. Thankyou to everyone

Our Dad was made so welcome. He enjoyed his chats with members of staff. Also the lounge was a place he enjoyed to sit chat & laugh with other residents. He loved his food, he couldn't fault it. He looked forward to meal times. Our Dad was taken great care of, he said it was homely. Our family and visitors
were welcomed too. Our Dad really enjoyed his stay very much. Thank you, each and everyone!

Wife of Graham who attends day care twice a week. The staff always welcome Graham profusely and are so helpful. He doesn't want to join in much but they always all try to include him & talk to him, even letting him sit in the reception area a lot of the time. This care home is the only one that doesn't
have a smell of urine overlain with a flowery smell! All in all, a lovely experience for Graham & I keep my sanity!

Mum moved to Claremont Court in January with all the typical challenging quirks of dementia. Sadly, she endured being moved in and out of two previous care homes as they were unable to meet her needs. Claremont Court took every one of her challenging behaviours in their stride - they invested time to
learn about Mum's likes, dislikes and triggers. Vitally, every carer knows to adjust THEIR responses rather than expecting an elderly lady with dementia to adjust HERS. They have monitored and altered Mum's medication (actually reducing some medication which the previous home had ramped up in order to make Mum easier for them to look after).
Visiting Mum has become less stressful, it used to be distressing for her and me. I am safe in the knowledge that I can trust Claremont Court with her care. On good days, I even manage to catch glimpses of my dear old Mum as I used to know her.

Claremont court was recommended to us by a friend, making the decision to put my mother into a home was very difficult but the home manager and her staff made us feel very confidant that we were making the right decision.
They are so kind and caring and provide such a high level of care that we don't
worry about mum now, we know she is looked after and supported but also still encouraged to participate in the huge amount of activities that the home organises.
What has struck all of my family is that whatever time of day you go and visit, every staff member from the nurses to the cleaners to the hairdresser know who mum is and where she is.
As mums health declines we are constantly kept up to date with doctors visits and new care plans or strategies.
The home is always spotless and well maintained and there is always music on or an activity to join. It is a lovely place to be with mum.

We wanted to write to you to express our utmost gratitude for taking care of my father in law in his final days. We know you only had him for less than 48 hours but we felt sure that he knew he was being cared for in the most professional and caring way possible. There was nothing you wouldn't do for
him and you took great care of us too. We know that you pride yourself on providing a home from home atmosphere and we felt you certainly did that. Thank you. We couldn't have asked for anything more.
All of your staff were so kind, with everyone of them greeting us or giving final farewells to the family. That doesn't happen without great leadership and staff feeling valued.
We, as a family, would highly recommend this lovely caring Acorn Court Care Home.

My mother has been receiving first class nursing care and support from the whole team at Bridge House. I have nothing but praise for the way they consistently help her to live her best life with kindness, professionalism and compassion. Despite the many challenges of her medical conditions, she is happier
at Bridge House than she has been for a long time. The team members go out of their way to understand her needs and wishes, making each day special for her. I know she is in the safest of hands at Bridge House and I thank the whole team for all their kindness, patience and hard work.

Mum has been here since January and has settled in so very well, she participates in all the activities and especially enjoys the Friday movement class with Louis. The staff are absolutely wonderful, so caring and supportive not only to mum but us as a family. Kirsty the dementia nurse is so experienced
and takes care of mum like she is her own family. I would highly recommend this home to anybody.

It was a big decision choosing a care home for a dear friend, and we are very thankful we found Acorn Court.
This modern, accessible building houses an incredibly professional, dedicated and caring team.
The management is seriously impressive - great communicators who helped us navigate the complexities
of the care system and funding options during a very difficult time. We remain immensely grateful.
The senior nursing team is superb and the level of communication excellent. They always took the time to explain what was happening, our options and decisions that had to be made. That caring ethos is evident throughout the staff - everybody we met over the weeks went about their work with a calm and caring professionalism.
Sadly our friend passed away shortly after and Acorn Court again supported us through the process, combining their knowledge with tenderness and respect.
The level of care and support provided is outstanding throughout.

My Nan joined the Alderwood care-home family in January 2026 and I just wanted to take a moment to say how incredibly grateful we are for the care and support you provide to my Nan. From the very beginning, the kindness, patience and genuine compassion shown by every member of staff has meant so much
to our whole family- a special mention to Kirsty her dementia nurse who quite honestly treats her as her own Nan and gives constant attention to detail. It gives us such comfort knowing she is in a safe, warm and happy environment where she is treated with dignity and respect every single day. Nikki and her team go above and beyond - whether it's the little chats, the encouragement to join activities, or simply taking the time to make her smile. It truly makes a difference, and we can see how settled and well cared for she is. The love Nikki shows to all the residents is beaming from her! Thank you for everything you do. Your hard work does not go unnoticed, and we are so grateful.

We were looking for a care home for my elderly father who has dementia in the Colchester area. We looked at 7 different homes across the surroundings areas and knew instantly when we walked into Alderwood that this was the best place for him to be cared for. During the tour by Karen we met several members
of staff all of whom were engaging and spent time to talk to us. The rooms that we were shown were of a high standard and spotlessly clean. The residents that we met were well cared for and many of them had smiles on their faces. With the homes catering for residential, dementia and nursing we knew that our Dad would never have to leave this facility if his needs increased. When Nikki did the home assessment, she met our elderly mother and took time to talk to her and reassure her that his needs would be fully met and that he would be happy there. Since he has been in the home he has been to some of the activities and is always happy.

My Nan has been at Alderwood for a few months now and as a family we were worried about the transition, however Alderwood have gone above and beyond to help us as a family and my Nan absolutely loves being here. My nans dementia lead nurse Kirsty is absolutely fantastic and treats my Nan as her own.
She enjoys all the clubs and class that Laura works hard to put on, and quite frankly we all want to move in! Nikki the manager is second to none and we thank her for all her support. What a place! X

My mother who is living with dementia has been a resident at this amazing home , we as a family were very anxious to put her into care. We visited 7 other homes but alderwood was the perfect fit for my Mum.

Alderwood is an exceptional home and our Dad is very happy and extremely well cared for.
Every individual person who works at the home shows wonderful care for our Dad - whether it's Nikki the manager, Fez and Laura - two carers on my Dad's floor, Kirsty the lead dementia nurse or Carl the handyman-
they all know him, understand him, look after him and make him happy!
We couldn't have wished for a better home.
