Overall Experience

The level of care and staff commitment to ensure my mum had the best life possible is simply fantastic. Nothing is too much. My mum had never been so happy as she is now. The staff from catering, nursing to caring are all so committed. Also the premises are perfect thanks to the dedicated maintenance

staff.
I can rest easy in everyone at Alderwood to look after mum as she is on palliative care with stomach cancer. They have kept my mum well and alive for over a year even though the hospital said she only had a few months prognosis.and also no falls or injuries and unnecessary hospital admissions as everything has been discussed and planned for my mum to end her days in a place she calls home and is loved .

Overall Experience

My mothers experience was not good. Following an assessment by social services, they said that interim care was a good idea and stated that Ashbrook House confirmed that they had availability. Obviously we were anxious for mum to be in a safer in environment, however it took nearly 2 weeks for them

to assess and admit her. When she arrived there she was placed in a terrible environment for her, with poor dementia patients wandering around when my mother has fully capacity. On this wing, she had strangers wandering into her 'private' room, there was loud music blaring in the corridors. She wasn't allowed to chose her own outfits, and finally, she didn't like the food. Trying to contact my mother here was very problematic, very often excuses were made, and on one occasion I was connected to a stranger. Finally we transferred mum out of here, she had no discharge papers and they had 'binned' her prescription meds, leaving her without necessary medication for 24 hours.

Our residents are always encouraged to make a variety of choices including how and where they spend their time, what they eat and the clothes they wear. If someone is struggling to decide we may suggest a couple of ideas to help. We find the music in our corridors is a welcomed feature as it's made up of our residents' favourite songs. I wish we'd known you found it too loud as we'd have been happy to turn it down or relocate it. Please be assured, I was there when our nurse handed her medication over to a team member from your mother's new care home and the full paperwork was emailed across to them that day. Overall Experience

The care my mother receives at Alderwood is exceptional. It is an outstanding care home led by an outstanding manager. The wonderful lifestyle team ensure mum has a wide range of activities to take part in daily and mum really enjoys these social interactions. Mum regularly goes on interesting trips

which she loves, most recently to a Colchester ladies football match. The attention to detail in marking special occasions is lovely to see. Christmas transformed the home into a winter wonderland which gave a lot of joy to mum and I'm sure the other residents. Everyone's birthday is celebrated and they are made to feel very special. The care staff are kind, caring,happy, compassionate and respectful of the residents and very welcoming to me when I visit (almost daily). Alderwood is clean, bright and well cared for, it feels warm and homely. The grounds are beautifully maintained and the gardens are a lovely place to send time enjoying visits in. The meals provided are excellent and mum always comments on how nice the food is!

Overall Experience

Once we moved our mother into Ashbrook Crt we soon realised it was a perfect move.All the staff was so accommodating, supportive and friendly. We now sleep at night with no worries as we know she is being cared for as best as she can be. It just feels like a big extended family.

Staff were supportive whilst viewing and amazing when we brought him in. They have kept us updated and nothing is too much trouble
Dad has settled in well and seems happy and always says how lovely everyone is. A very difficult time for us as a family but we know Dad

Overall Experience

We are extremely happy with this home and would recommend you put your loved ones in here staff are all caring and lovely. The entertainment for residents is excellent, everyones birthday is celebrated with a party. There are regular outings. All the carers are kind and caring to residents it is clean

and friendly. It's amazing they keep you in touch if anything happens to your loved one.

Overall Experience

Overall very happy! Reception staff always friendly and happy. Staff in lounge always happy to talk and help with any questions we may have (Oak Lounge).
Lunch (this is the Main Meal we see during our visits) looks delicious. Support staff - hairdresser, maintenance, housekeeping, activities all fantastic.

Overall Experience

1) Reception staff - always friendly, helpful and cheerful.
2) Day time care staff - Oak Lounge - always friendly, professional and attentive to my mum's needs.
3) Hairdresser - Bring extra 'cheer', care and friendliness to the environment.
4) Nurses - communication, updates and next step chatted

(senior carer) about regularly, but, they are always answer any questions. Very friendly and professional.
Cleaning staff, maintenance, mini bus driver, activity staff are all very dedicated to their allocated duties. Good menu/diet.

The staff are all friendly, helpful and kind. I cannot speak too highly about the way my father has been cared for. There is nothing that is too much trouble and during what is a difficult period the care staff have always had time to keep the family informed. I have already recommended the home to

Overall Experience

Our mum was admitted to Honey Lane Care home last summer and we were so happy with the care and support she was given. She found it hard to cope with the change at first but the team were very kind and patient with her and she soon settled into the routine. She enjoyed taking part in, or at least watching,

the wide variety of activities put on for the residents. She especially enjoyed the days when the animals came into the home. The staff were always kind and welcoming when the family came to visit mum. I was very impressed that all the carers seemed to know all the residents which made me feel that mum was being looked out for by all the staff. For someone with dementia, it is important that they are able to build up good relationships with the same staff over a period of time and this happened with mum. I would highly recommend Honey Lane. It has a safe and caring environment and the staff are kind and supportive.

Overall Experience

My Brothers and I placed our Mother in the Honey Lane Care home a few years back, when She could no longer fend for herself. We chose Honey Lane based on recommendations from others and their top notch dementia care.
Although 93 years old now, Mum is very happy in the homes happy environment. It is

obvious that all the staff are very caring and professional in their duties and care. This gives my brothers and I perfect peace of mind. Our visits are always very welcoming.

Overall Experience

Honey Lane is a family and all residents are adopted into its care. The staff seem to have tireless patience and empathy with the residents and everyone always seems so positive no matter what the circumstances. I especially appreciate that Dad gets taken out on some occasions and that he is finding

ways to express himself in the crafts activities offered. Dad has not been at Honey Lane long, but I feel he is flourishing in this environment. He is treated with respect and is clearly happy to be given freedom in his own choices. I hope the staff are truly as happy as they appear to be.

Overall Experience

Honey Lane Care Home was recommended by my mum's doctor.
Initially, we paid for three weeks of respite but have decided to make this permanent. To be honest, at first, I wasn't sure if we had made a mistake putting Mum here. I soon changed my mind when I witnessed the care given to Mum and the other

residents.
Mum really likes it here and is very settled. She has a good rapport with the care team and takes part and enjoys the various activities.
It has given us peace of mind to know that Mum has 24-hour care and is happy.
