Acorn Court Care Home

It was a very difficult decision for our family to move my husband to Acorn Court. He was very aware he wasn't living at home and didn't want to be there. The day to day life there is nice and relaxed but the staff are always aware of residents needs and difficulties. The staff work well as a team.
The food, entertainment and activities are extremely good. Every member of staff - reception team, activities team, maintenance, housekeeping, management, carers and nurses cared for my husband and us as a family in a warm, kind, professional, exemplary way. They listened to us with regard to my husband's care, were prompt in responding to anything we suggested to make his life more comfortable there. Sadly my husband passed away in Acorn Court, the sympathy, understanding, respect and dignity they afforded him throughout his last days there and after he passed away was heartwarming and very moving. When I left him I knew he was in excellent caring hands. Thank you to all at Acorn Court.

Claremont Court provides the most wonderful warm atmosphere. Its something that I am aware of every visit and it is something that all the friends and relatives comment on.
Each staff member addresses us by name, shares a greeting and a little chat.
The care and kindness shown to my husband is absolutely
exemplary. Nothing is too much trouble in their care for my husband and they are so tactful as he dislikes needing help from them.
The activities team use encouragement for my husband to participate with the activites and Namaste is such a positive thing.
The relatives all know how very difficult it is to look after people with dementia which is such a cruel disease.
I think we all feel so personally supported by both the staff and the management team.

Claremont Court Care Home

My brother moved to Claremont Court back in December 2024 and throughout this time the care he has received has been excellent.

My brother is not the easiest resident - he has significant learning difficulties, dementia and cannot communicate in any way - but the team at Claremont treat him with

respect and care. And, no matter how much fuss he makes when he is receiving personal care, they always provide this with kindness. Moreover, the staff are fully aware that my brother is resistant to personal care, so two carers turn up to help him and get his changed and clean in a prompt and highly efficient way.

I have also been impressed with the way that they spot things like UTI's and get him treated and they way that they are able to ensure that he always takes his medicine, Prior to Claremont he was at another home, where the care was poor, resulting is missed medication which resulted in seizures and stays in hospital.

In short, I highly recommend Claremont Court.

We have been really impressed with the excellent care from everybody....Everyone has taken so much trouble to settle my mother in to Claremont and she couldn't be in a better place. A very bright, positive atmosphere with a lot going on and excellent spaces both inside and outside.

My mother has been very well cared for at Claremont Court for more than three years. She was able to enjoy her birthday activity in October 2024, despite being very frail. Unfortunately, she can no longer take part in activities and is completely bed bound. The staff are kind and helpful and very professional
in their dealings with the residents and their families. My family and friends who have visited all comment on what a lovely place Claremont Court is, with a lovely atmosphere.

Friendly, helpful, caring staff working together as a team. Plenty of smiles! Management staff approachable and happy to discuss any general issues. Regular visits by GP who, together with nursing staff, keep us informed of any developments.
When selecting Claremont Court, we were advised the aim was
to make residents feel, as far as possible, like being at home. Not by chance, they achieve this in full measure.

Claremont Court is a fantastic home for my mother. She is safe and happy and her individual needs are really well understood and met. The care givers are motivated and wonderful at their job, the team spirit shines through. There are so many activities the residents can participate in, the team is
very creative with their activity offerings with something to suit everyone. The innovative namaste activities in a dementia dedicated setting is a leading program that creates calmness and comfort for the residents. I cannot praise and recommend Claremont Court enough!

Cannot fault the home in any way, staff very friendly, management always there, the home is always clean and smells clean. Food choices always offered to my mum and when I visit I am always offered. I feel as I am visiting my mum at home as such a homely environment. My mum had a wish made come true,
by attending her granddaughter's wedding. Outstanding home - would very much recommend.

Our father was a reluctant resident but during his short time at Acorn Court he was shown exemplary care by all. The staff were courteous and caring and you felt that any suggestions made were listened to and acted upon. Any issues (of which there were few), resolved, and the end of life care was beyond
reproach. Nothing was too much trouble. Our father, and the family, were made to feel welcome, supported and respected. The range of activities both within and outside the home great.
We too would have no hesitation in recommending the home and its staff. Particular mention must go to one individual, (you know who you are!), who is an outstanding example of everything you would want from a carer for your relative at the dusk of their lives.
The communication facilitated by the home with us as a family and the GP was also good, the GP again listened to our and our father's concerns and implemented a care plan which everyone was comfortable with

As a family we are so very grateful for the wonderful care, love and dignity shown to our Mum during her time at Acorn Court.
Everyone was so lovely not only to her but to us as a family. Nothing was ever too much trouble and as we got to know the staff from management, admin, receptionists, carers,
chefs, cleaners and maintenance we realised Mum had become part of a big loving family.
Despite her not wanting to join in a lot of activities she was never left out of any celebration, of which there were many. If she wouldn't go to them they brought it to her and we have some fabulous photos showing us that, with her smiling in every one so we know she was very happy there.
Unfortunately we lost Mum in April but the end of life care given was second to none and we were shown so much love and respect by all the staff.
We would not hesitate recommending Acorn Court to any family having to make the difficult decision to find a home where their loved ones will be cared for, safe and happy.

My mother was admitted to Queen Elizabeth Nursing Home in January 2022 with dreadful level 4 bed sores and a contracted leg. She was mostly bedbound but put into a wheelchair to go to bingo etc. which she loved. The nurses and carers at the home got rid of her bed sores completely they were amazing
(apparently it is almost impossible to help level 4 sores). The overall care my mum got was second to none, she had her nails done, made bracelets, saw animals including owls (which she loved) in her room! My mum was very happy there I am so thankful to the whole team. Thank you so much.

QEP understood my mum so well and her care was outstanding to the end.
She was always treated with dignity and was well looked after.
She called QEP home and we were always welcomed there.
She loved all the activities available and took part in most.
QEP took all the worry away from us and she
was happy until the last.

It's hard to express the deep gratitude I feel for Acorn Court. Both of my parents, with very different experiences of dementia, have been cared for there at separate times and always as the unique individuals they are. The home and gardens are spotless, comfortable, and welcoming. Residents can personalise
their rooms, which really helps ease the transition. Daily care is delivered with dignity, and residents are always smartly dressed, which supports their dignity and identity. The food and range of activities are exceptional-like a five-star all-inclusive. Our mum is truly thriving. The carers are kind, attentive, and bring a lovely sense of humour to their work. It's also reassuring to see the same faces, thanks to strong staff retention. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Acorn Court to any family looking for a compassionate, professional care home for their loved ones.

Dad has been so happy at Claremont Court. Staff are caring, kind and respectful of all residents taking the time to get to know them and it feels like one big, happy family. Dad is supported to join in activities when he wants to, allowed to make his own choices about those he doesn't and clearly loves
the staff - they get a bigger smile than I do! They know his interests and preferences and support these. The staff have also been so kind and supportive of us, his family. I could not have asked for a better home for dad.

The carers treat the residents with great respect and kindness at all times, the atmosphere is friendly. It seems to me that great care is taken to make residents' lives as fulfilled and meaningful as possible even though many suffer from difficult symptoms of advanced dementia. I love the way carers
smile, wave and say hello to my mother by name as she endlessly walks up and down the corridors. She responds positively and tells me often that she doesn't know who tbe people are that walk up and down but that they are friendly and kind to her. I doubt I could easily find another home where my mother's difficult needs could be so well met.

Claremont Court is truly outstanding. We couldn't wish for our relative to be anywhere else. The staff are so very kind and we have complete peace of mind.
The staff are friendly and approachable. Importantly they treat the residents with great care and love. There is always something happening. They
have lots of people in to entertain such as singing, dancing, animals visiting and so much more... plus lots of outings.
We would highly recommend Claremont Court to anyone considering a dementia care home.

My Mum is having some respite care after falling and breaking her hip in January.
She is being well cared for and the staff are all very kind and friendly.
She has enjoyed joining in some of the activities when she has felt well enough to do so. She has found some days that the food choices are
not to her taste and the nights are quite noisy with buzzers waiting to be answered.
But overall she is happy and would choose Queen Elizabeth Park again if needed.

My father has been at QEP for a couple of months. He is wheelchair bound, catheterised and has very limited sight. For the first few weeks he was quite agitated in his new surroundings and it took him a while to get used to new staff helping him. But now he does seem more settled and in fact has gained
some weight which is encouraging.
The staff caring for him seem really friendly and kind and they really try and get him involved in the activities - most of which he does seem to enjoy even though he sometimes falls asleep in them.
At weekends there seem to be less activities and maybe this is something that could be improved on? When I run out of conversation during visits, we love doing crosswords together. Could the ones available in the bistro area be "updated" more frequently please? I try and remember to bring one or two with me but I often forget so having more of a choice available would be helpful.
Overall I am very pleased with the care my father is receiving.
