Spring Lane is an established North London care home that was rated 'good' by the Care Quality Commission in January 2019.

It has spacious communal areas and a service that is committed to care that suits the individual.

While being an ideal environment for older people with daily care needs, the hand-picked care team are experienced in the challenges of dementia care and the home is welcoming for people with physical difficulties.

As well as a homely environment, residents can enjoy being located close to the numerous amenities and transport routes of Muswell Hill.

My mother has received wonderful care at Spring Lane since she arrived in 2014. This has always been tailored brilliantly to her needs as her dementia has progressed and her physical capabilities have decreased. The home is very well managed and the staff are knowledgeable, warm, friendly and responsive.
The recent refurbishment was challenging at times, but has improved the quality of the environment. I always recommend Spring Lane to people in our area.

My mother, 96 years old, initially moved to Spring Lane Muswell Hill for temporary 2 week respite break in November 2024. She was unhappy and lonely in her own home, and the council care package was adequate at best.

Her physical and mental demeanour immediately improved in the company of other people.

The staff are friendly, approachable and caring. There are plenty of sociable activities. Mum enjoys the food, comprising three meals per day and frequent cups of tea.

The premises have been refurbished. It is a warm, comfortable and safe haven for the residents. Mum's room is clean tidy and perfectly adequate for her reduced needs. Visiting is positively encouraged.

I have met the owners June and Stacey who, refreshingly, are involved in the day to day running and planning of the home.

So far, this has been a very positive experience not only for my mother, but also for my brother and I whose care responsibilites have now been taken on by Spring Lane in such good fashion. Thank you

The care home is lovley, it has just been renovated. Tje managment and carers go out of their way to provide care for your loved ones.
They keep an eye on their feeding.
I would recommend this home to anyone as it is clean and tidy.

My stepmother has been in Spring Lane since the beginning of 2025. We have found the care excellent and her health has improved. The staff are very kind and one of the best things is the consistency of the care, where individual members of staff have become familiar and have had time to get to know
her personally.

Thank you for providing respite care for our aunt. At very short notice you helped us have peace of mind that she would be cared for whilst we were away.
She loved her room and liked the staff very much.
Additionally, you lent us equipment when we had an emergency after she moved back into her own
home. Very kind of you and much appreciated.

My cousin, a single gentleman, lived in the same house for 77 years so moving into a care home was a huge change for him. Staff at Spring Lane were incredibly patient, empathetic and gentle with him from day one so he settled in fairly easily and is now totally at home there. I am immediately informed
about any problems, appointments or issues that affect him - communication is excellent.
Visitors are made to feel welcome and the atmosphere in the home is peaceful and happy with many activities available to residents. My cousin's room is kept clean and tidy, as are his clothes. He is given gentle reminders when needed about his personal hygiene, without making him feel embarrassed.
My thanks to all the staff at Spring Lane, you are all doing an amazing job and it's greatly appreciated.

The moment I stepped into the relaxed and welcoming environment of Spring Lane Care Home, I knew that this would be the right place to bring my aunt. Throughout her stay, the staff were professional, friendly and attentive and always willing to discuss my aunt’s individual needs with me. I was impressed
with the regular close contact, informing me of the state of my aunt’s health and details of follow-up treatments and necessary adjustments. I’d like to thank every single member of the staff from the bottom of my heart for their kindness and dedication to the care of my aunt.

I would like to thank Spring Lane for looking after a dear friend of mine, who has been a resident for over three months. I visit regularly and have been impressed with the service provided. All the staff have been excellent and friendly to us.
The facilities and entertainment provided help to stimulate
the patients with their well-being. I found it a friendly environment, and the in-house catering service was excellent. The patients often form friendships within the care home. I would not hesitate to recommend this facility.

As always, the quality of care at such places is entirely dependent on the staff. Spring Lane has a real culture of professionalism and pride in providing the best possible care for the residents. The carers exude warmth, humour, and genuine affection, not only for those they care for but for their
families and friends too. There is good communication from the home to family members regarding any changes in health conditions, and decisions are always jointly made. A high level of trust is therefore built up, ensuring peace of mind for all concerned.

My mum has been living at Spring Lane for two years. During this time, she has been very well cared for. The staff are all caring, considerate, respectful and kind. My mum always praises the comfortable bed, the good food and the kindness of people around her. Myself and my sisters only have praise
for the staff at Spring Lane. My mum is happy and settled, we couldn’t ask for more.

We are delighted with the care at Spring Lane. Our mother is very contented, which is great to see. She is very happy with the food and with the care that she receives. On visits, we see that the residents are well looked after. Activities are plentiful, and there is always a lovely, warm and friendly

My mother, aged 101, has lived in Spring Lane for two and a half years. Her level of care needs are relatively minimal, although she is registered blind and is very hard of hearing. Spring Lane has a well established team of carers, mostly kind and very caring. The home has a warm and friendly atmosphere,
and a sense of informality, coupled with generally well worked out systems, procedures and structures - a good combination. Spring Lane is part of a group of three homes, set up and still owned by the original medical family who established it, and they are still involved. Leadership and management are satisfactory, and there is a kind, experienced and very responsive team at deputy management level. I was not happy with the way Springdene handled a complaint eighteen months back, and have concerns about the current refurbishment programme being carried out with residents in situ, although I don’t know how else this could have been done. However, would I choose this home again? Yes.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.753)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.753) out of 10 for Spring Lane is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.778 for Spring Lane is calculated as follows: ( (180 Excellents x 5) + (41 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 225 Ratings = 4.778
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Spring Lane is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 63 registered maximum number of service users is 12.6, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Unit Manager Joined: 2013

I began my career in care when I was 16 via volunteering at the local older people’s lunch club. I knew from this time that I wanted to pursue a career in care and took a role as a carer for adults with learning disabilities whilst continuing with my volunteering role. When I moved to London I had the wonderful opportunity of being able to do a modern apprenticeship in a care home for older people. I knew straight away that I had found the ideal job for me.

I am passionate about ensuring people are cared for in the way they want, that promotes and enables them to live life as they would to choose to.

I have worked in various care homes in the charitable, local authority and private sector. I have been working at Spring Lane since 2013 and have never looked back, I have progressed from Carer to Unit Manager. Spring Lane really has a home-from-home atmosphere and a caring community spirit.

During my nurse training, I worked regular shifts as a care assistant in various care homes to both enhance my skills and support my family.

In 2008, I finally qualified as a registered nurse and worked on an acute medical ward, completed my preceptorship and built on my nursing skills and knowledge.

Although I enjoyed my time in a hospital ward, I missed the ‘community’ within a care home and decided to devote my career to supporting people who live in care homes, joining Springdene Group in 2014.
