Overall Experience

My grandparents were both residents of Spring Lane and had good care. The second-floor team particularly were all so kind and caring. The chef was fantastic, upon serving the food, he would wave at everyone, which was such a highlight for my grandma! The food always delicious, and families were offered to eat as well. The dining hall staff were so kind too, sherry and canape time always a hit! Over Covid, I have been helping one resident who we have stayed in touch with, and every time been delighted to see the carers I knew remembered me by name, recount memories of my grandparents and ask after my family. I've also been staying in touch with Spring Lane with my work hat on; we managed to include Spring Lane in our churches advent windows display so that local people could go to wave at the residents and see a beautiful window display!

Thank you very much for your support. Delighted that you found our staff so kind and caring and that we looked after your grandparents so well. Nice the food was so appreciated too!

My mother was a resident of Spring Lane for about five years until her passing in May 2020. During all those years, as a regular visitor, my experience was of caring staff and indeed the support team around them. More importantly, my mother was content to be in their care.

I could not fault the staffs' attitude towards the residents and would not hesitate to recommend this home to anyone who might ask me.

Staff are helpful and friendly, and Mum likes and gets on well with them. Covid-19 visiting restrictions have been a pain, but I think the home has done well and coped with what was necessary.

I've been visiting my friend for many years. I find all staff/managers friendly, and nothing is too much for them. Excellent service and my friend is happy with her food and menu choices. Every day they cater for every need; she also enjoys her daily activities. I'll recommend this home to all my family and friends and anyone looking for a caring residential home. My friend loves living at Spring Lane. Thank you all.

Mother-in-law was a resident for five years until her death earlier this year. We always found the staff to be first-class. Went above and beyond our expectations, keeping us informed and raising issues that needed to be dealt with. She was always treated with respect and consideration.

Review from Christine C (Cousin of Resident) published on 23 June 2021 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My cousin has been living at Spring Lane for the past 3-years and she is very happy.
She often comments when I visit (including last week), 'they are all very nice'.
I have been very impressed with both the level of care and attention to detail.
There are lots of long term staff who know residents well, and this helps everyone feel like a family.
Especially during the past 12-months when it has been difficult to visit, I have been impressed with the care offered, and help in ensuring we maintain contact. There are a good range of activities available if you would like to participate; but also good respect if you would rather not.
Before the pandemic, I would sometimes have lunch with my cousin and really impressed with the freshness and variety of food; as well as foods that are familiar for the residents.

I visit many care homes as part of my job and I am so glad we chose Spring Lane for my cousin as it really does stand out as a good place to live.

Overall Experience

My friend has been a resident in Spring Lane for four years, and I have missed her so much during the Pandemic. But the staff have facilitated Skype calls throughout, so we have been able to be in touch. In May, finally, I was able to visit in person, and after a test and fully masked etc, I was able to talk with my friend. It was such a wonderful experience - she was well, happy and looked after so well by the marvellous Spring Lane staff. She could not be better cared for.

Reply from Michael Williams, Chairman at Spring Lane

We're delighted you have taken the time to let us know your friend is so well looked after and that our staff are "marvellous". It is much appreciated.

Review from James D (Husband of Resident) published on 22 June 2021 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My wife has Alzheimer's/Dementia and has been cared for at Spring Lane for the past two years. The care she has received has been outstanding. I have found the staff to be caring and competent; displaying respect, professionalism and kindness. My wife's medical, social and personal care has been of the highest standard. Communication is excellent. I am always kept informed of any medical issues and dealings with the GP and hospital as well as her social interaction in the home via photo/video.

The most important thing is that Spring Lane is a happy community with lots of activities going on. I am always made welcome whenever I phone or visit.

I am so grateful to all the staff for the care they give my wife, especially over the past twelve months.

Overall Experience
I am very happy with the care given to my mother, and the attitude of the care staff who are very caring, empathetic and kind, as well as being very professional and dealing with any medical issues promptly. There is a lovely atmosphere at Spring Lane and it is good that the dementia sufferers are able to mix with the other residents and join in activities with them. The food seems to be very good. I always feel that the managers are on top of issues, and deal with them well, and keep the family informed. There is quite a bit of staff turnover, due to the area being too expensive for care workers to live, but there is a core of long term staff who know my mother well, and the new staff who join are very friendly and get to know my mother quickly, and seem to genuinely care for her, and like dealing with her.

We have had a few problems with the laundry, and I have asked for my concerns to be addressed.

I began my career in care when I was 16 via volunteering at the local older people’s lunch club. I knew from this time that I wanted to pursue a career in care and took a role as a carer for adults with learning disabilities whilst continuing with my volunteering role. When I moved to London I had the wonderful opportunity of being able to do a modern apprenticeship in a care home for older people. I knew straight away that I had found the ideal job for me.

I am passionate about ensuring people are cared for in the way they want, that promotes and enables them to live life as they would to choose to.

I have worked in various care homes in the charitable, local authority and private sector. I have been working at Spring Lane since 2013 and have never looked back, I have progressed from Carer to Unit Manager. Spring Lane really has a home-from-home atmosphere and a caring community spirit.

“I was a late joining the nursing profession and after a career in chemical manufacturing/processing, I decided to retrain as a registered nurse.

During my nurse training, I worked regular shifts as a care assistant in various care homes to both enhance my skills and support my family.

In 2008, I finally qualified as a registered nurse and worked on an acute medical ward, completed my preceptorship and built on my nursing skills and knowledge.

Although I enjoyed my time in a hospital ward, I missed the ‘community’ within a care home and decided to devote my career to supporting people who live in care homes, joining Springdene Group in 2014.

I am proud to work for Springdene Nursing and Care Homes, especially as staff, are committed to bringing joy and enrichment to residents' lives, and how each home has a unique identity and resident community.”
