My mum is very happy here. She likes her new room.

We feel that the staff are very good and keep us updated with the activities she is doing. She likes being able to get out the patio door and sit in the garden.

Reply from Jennifer Somauroo, Director at Sweetcroft Care Home

We're glad Mum likes her new room and furniture. She has been choosing colours for her "front door" (bedroom door) and the flower pot to match looks beautiful. Thank you for taking the time to write such a wonderful review and we will pass it onto our team.

My aunt was at Sweetcroft for respite care. She was a musician in her younger days, and she thoroughly enjoyed the live singers coming in. Management, carers and all staff were very approachable. She was very happy there and should we require full time in the future she will definitely be going back.

Overall Experience

When I first visited Sweetcroft I was struck by the warmth, kindness, and friendliness of every single member of staff. The comparison shown to my Aunt during her time at Sweetcroft has exceeded my expectations on every level. It is a small family run care home and my family and I see the owners every time we visit, which is very reassuring. It is exceptionally clean (something that has changed drastically since the new owners took over). Moving a loved one into care is exceedingly hard, but Sweetcroft does everything in their power to make it an easy and smooth transition.

Thank you for your review of Sweetcroft Care Home and for highlighting the wonderful staff that care for aunt. My dear Grandmother has been in Sweetcroft for the last 11 years, recommended by a friend. She has been well cared for, kept safe and comfortable and we have taken her out on various trips to visit family over the years, with never a problem. The girls have always been kind and helpful. The room is always clean and tidy. Grandma has always been well dressed and personal hygiene is taken care of. A lovely environment for our Grandma of nearly 102. Well done.

Not usually one to leave reviews but since the new owners have taken over at Sweetcroft it’s a different home!
The new decor is lovely and feels fresh and the food seems to be super fresh and good quality too.
All the staff are lovely and my grandmother seems much more relaxed and happy under their care.

Thank you for helping us feel more secure knowing she’s in good hands.

My grandmother has been very well cared for at Sweetcroft for the last 11 years. Since the new ownership there has been many improvements implemented. The staff are always very friendly and helpful, and the care has been excellent, especially over the last few months. Nan is almost 102 and has been very happy at Sweetcroft. Thank you for all the support you have provided for the past 11 years.

My aunt is very happy in Sweetcroft Care Home! The staff are very caring and attentive. They spend a lot of time with the residents, talking, dancing and doing activities. My aunt doesn’t have dementia and tells me all the comings and goings in the home. All of the staff are the same every day, as they don’t use agency workers and my aunt likes that as she likes knowing all their names. She is so happy there and raves about everything. Thank you.

Firstly I would like to thank the owners who have been so kind, they have helped make the transition so much easier for our father, and us as a family. Our father has settled in nicely, which is a relief, I know this is because all of the staff have been amazing with him, caring for him and always available for a chat; which he loves. One of the main things we are happy with is that his bedroom is amazing, it's well furnished, nicely decorated, and has a very comfortable bed, it's so homely, we can see that great care and effort have been taken by the owners in making this possible. One of the things that I am looking forward to is when the weather gets a little warmer, and I can sit with him in the lovely garden!

My experience has been excellent in all respects, I have been in a hospital since November, then into a nursing home.

All above were rather miserable experiences in terms of care and staff attitude. When I came to Sweetcroft I was transformed by the love and care and attitude of all staff. They showed what care should be (competence, attitude, responsibility and empathy). I could not have received better care and understanding anywhere else. I am a qualified nurse so have been on the other side. I have a PhD in Palliative Care so well understand what is required. Thanks to all at Sweetcroft - an apt name for sweet people.

Review from Alan C (Grandson of Resident) published on 6 March 2020 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

We spent a long time trying to find the ‘right’ home for our grandfather. We looked at more than ten care homes and we were delighted when we finally found Sweetcroft. The staff, managers and owners were all on hand to help us and they were incredible at helping Grandad fit in. He was extremely nervous about leaving his home and had never tried a care home before. The staff gave him extra attention in his first few weeks to help his settle in and we were given regular updates on how he was doing, which gave us peace of mind. I can honestly say he is like a new man. He engages really well with all the family when we visit, he does activities (which he would never have entertained at home), he’s put on weight and is doing so well. He often remarks that he wishes he had gone in sooner and he believes it’s his home. He has made great friends with the other residents and seeing the same staff everyday has definitely helped him. It’s a small home, which I think has definitely helped things.

The home has a really friendly atmosphere. All the staff are professional, kind and caring. There are regular activities, and all the residents are encouraged to take part and socialise.

My mum was treated with respect and dignity; the staff did all they could to make her comfortable and content. It gave our family great peace of mind knowing she was so well cared for.

Sweetcroft is more like a "Home from Home" rather than a care home. The staff are attentive to individual needs and there is always a family feel in the home. Since the home has been taken over by the new owners, the home has improved immensely from staffing to decoration and renovations.

My nan has been at Sweetcroft for 3 years now and I couldn't praise the home enough, even more so since the new management have been in place. The care she now receives is second to none and it gives our family great peace of mind knowing how well looked after she is.
