The situation of the home is ideal, as it is set in lovely gardens, as well as having a central courtyard where the residents sit out in summer. The layout helps residents to spend time with others with whom they have become friends – and the approach of the staff very much encourages this as Viera Grey is considered very much to be the residents own home. There is also a strong engagement with the relatives in decisions regarding the home and its residents. And most important of all - mum is happy and well looked after.

I have been a carer at Viera Gray House for 8 years and I specialise in Dementia Care. I love to be involved in activities, especially those which involve singing and dancing with the residents. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my grandchildren.

I enjoy the pressure of a busy kitchen and creating meals that the residents enjoy. My favourite thing to bake at home is bread as I love a crusty loaf. I also like to bake cakes for the resident’s birthday parties in the home as I love to see how happy they are when they blow out the candles.
