As a holder of POA for Eunice, I wish especially to express my gratitude for the way that Eunice was looked after in the few weeks before her death.
When it became obvious that she needed more care she was moved into a room which was just right for her escalating need for care and she was very appreciative
of this lovely little room- with ensuite of course.
For about the final ten days she couldn't really communicate and she did not want any treatment for her respiratory condition so in agreement with staff from the Royal Berkshire Hospital she was given palliative care only and she was able to stay in her familiar surroundings to the end.
We were able to visit her at any time.
Pembroke Care even supplied a water bed to make her more comfortable.
We cannot speak too highly of the care Eunice was given right up to the end of her life,

I came most Sundays for some time to take a resident to church. I always found the people caring for her to be very kind and competent , and there was clearly a very good atmosphere. She died in April 2026 , having been very well looked after in her last few weeks.

Good care was given throughout her stay over 3 years. Especially by Iqra and her team over the last 2/3 months of my friend's life.
Moved to a new room where more care could be given and room updated in line with our suggestions
During the last 10 days she was treated extremely well.
We were always
kept informed & welcomed

Mum was with Pembroke Care for over three years. During this time she was looked after with care and love by all the staff. We were always made to feel welcome whenever we visited. Many of the staff seemed to be there all or most of the time that Mum was there, so it looked to be a low staff turnover,
which is always a good sign.
The last couple of weeks of Mum's life were a very difficult time for everyone but she was always treated with dignity, and nothing was too much trouble.

My Mother was at Pembroke Lodge from December 2020 until she sadly passed away there earlier this month.
She absolutely loved everything about the home, from the excellent management and staff to the wonderful atmosphere.
Before she went in she was a very unhappy Alzheimer's sufferer but within weeks
she was like her previous happy and smiling self.
She found the accommodation, the food and the grounds all excellent.
Above all, it is the loving care and attention she received that will make us eternally grateful to them.
Reply from Daniel D'Cruz, Deputy Manager at Pembroke CareThank you for sharing such heartfelt words at such a difficult time. It was our absolute pleasure to look after your mum, and she will certainly be remembered, she was such a character and brought smiles to those around her. Knowing she found happiness and comfort with us at Pembroke Lodge means so much, and we're glad she felt at home again. We'll share your kind words with the whole team, who will be touched by them. Please accept our sincere condolences from everyone here.

This was my dad's (aged 90) first experience of care, on coming out of hospital. He stayed with Alexandra Lodge for just two weeks while we found him a permanent care home closer to our family. The directors and care staff at Pembroke Group were outstanding in their flexibility and helping us through
fast-changing circumstances. Whilst - of course - my dad was unhappy about not being able to go home, the staff were kind and helped him adapt to his new situation. He left Alexandra Lodge after two weeks much fitter, stronger, more mobile and more positive then when he arrived. Thank you to all the staff.
Reply from Daniel D'Cruz, Deputy Manager at Pembroke CareThank you so much for sharing this. We know how difficult it can be when home isn't an option, so we're really glad our team could make the transition a little easier for your dad. It's wonderful to hear he left feeling stronger and more positive-that means a lot to us. We'll make sure the staff at Alexandra Lodge see your kind words, as they'll be touched to know their care made a difference. We wish your dad every happiness in his new home closer to you and your family.

Pembroke is a very lovely care home and we've been very impressed by how the management and staff are caring for our father. The care home is small, family run, and personal and the staff are attentive and familiar (no agency staff).

The building is very nice and they have a lovely garden that our

father enjoys very much. Food looks great and is home cooked, staff regularly offering cups or tea and other refreshments.

Levels of personal care and responsiveness to welfare concerns is very impressive. Couldn't be more pleased with our choice

Reply from Daniel D'Cruz, Deputy Manager at Pembroke CareThank you for your thoughtful feedback. We're so glad to hear that your father is enjoying his time with us at Pembroke Care, especially the garden and home-cooked meals. It means a lot to us that you've noticed the consistent team and personal approach we pride ourselves on. Your comments about our care and responsiveness are truly appreciated by all of us. We're very pleased to be supporting your family.

I booked a 3 day stay at Pembroke Care as I was not sure whether I would need nursing care after an operation. My recovery was good and I did not need nursing care but a warm sheltered environment staffed by dedicated carers, available 24 hours, was very reassuring and helped my recovery. My room was
warm and comfortable and I had access to a dining and sitting area and a garden. The staff were very attentive to my needs and were professional and genuinely caring. Thank you all for making my stay and recovery period both comfortable and pleasant.
Reply from Daniel DCruz, Deputy Manager at Pembroke CareThank you for your kind words. My mother has been a resident at Pembroke since 2019 and we have been very happy with her care. We were fortunate that, with the help of technology, were able to maintain good communication links with her during the difficult Covid years. The carers are wonderful and the owners/managers are always available
to discuss my mum's care.

My father recently passed away aged 99 at the Pembroke Care home. He had been a resident there for over 7 years during which time the staff and management at Pembroke Care looked after him extremely well. When he first moved there after a minor medical emergency he was able to live in his own apartment
across the road from the main home giving him the independence and privacy he wanted. As his health gently declined he was able to move into other parts of the care home which were able to give him closer supervision in case of emergencies like a fall. I live in Asia but managed to see him reasonably frequently. The staff always made it easy to visit at any reasonable time and I was always pleasantly surprised how unfailingly kind and gentle they were towards my father. Caring for the old cannot be an easy task and they always seemed to do so with constant cheerfulness and warmth. I cannot recommend Pembroke Care Home highly enough.
Reply from Daniel DCruz, Deputy Manager at Pembroke CareThank you for your kind words. It was a privilege to care for your father over the years and to witness his unique spirit. We're pleased that he was able to maintain his independence in his own apartment and transition smoothly as his needs changed. Our team values the importance of creating a warm and welcoming environment, and your appreciation of our staff's dedication and compassion truly means a lot. Supporting families from afar is something we strive to make seamless, and we're grateful for the opportunity to provide comfort and care to both you and your father.

My mother has been a resident in Pembroke Care for 4 years, and this is an update to a previous review. I would like to extend again my gratitude for the care provided and am particularly thankful for the systems put in place by the Deputy Manager. For example, the relationship between Pembroke Care
and the local GP surgery is excellent, meaning that any health concerns raised are dealt with promptly and professionally.

Friend seems well looked after as in clean clothes and environment is clean. I appreciate that older people can be stubborn but not aware of much happening to stimulate. As far as I know no complaints re food.
Reply from Daniel DCruz, Deputy Manager at Pembroke CareThank you for your feedback. We're glad to hear you feel your friend is well cared for in terms of cleanliness and comfort. We do offer a variety of daily activities designed to engage and stimulate our residents, but participation is always optional. We understand that some individuals may choose not to join, and while we strive to cater to everyone's preferences, it can be challenging to meet all interests. Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.563)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.563) out of 10 for Pembroke Care is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.563 for Pembroke Care is calculated as follows: ( (163 Excellents x 5) + (61 Goods x 4) + (22 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 247 Ratings = 4.563
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Pembroke Care is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 20 registered maximum number of service users is 4, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
